Resumen
The COVID-19 pandemic has altered the expectations regarding the energy transition, enhancing pre-existing trends. Climate governance has also been affected by COVID-19 in a key year for increasing ambition. While the priority of governments and citizens is the fight against the coronavirus, the radical change in the short-term context should not distract us from the challenges brought about by the energy transition and climate governance in the medium and long term.

Resumen
This article discusses the role of the European Union (EU) in global geopolitics following the pandemic of the new coronavirus. It argues that the pandemic accelerates the crisis of multilateralism and the rivalry between great powers, leaving the EU in an uncomfortable position. It first explains how and why the international system has moved from institutionalized cooperation to geostrategic rivalry. Then, it focuses on the EU's strengths in the various structures of international power and on its chances for developing strategic autonomy in economic, technological and security and defence matters. Finally, it focuses on how the EU should deal with the United States and China.

Resumen
During the COVID-19 pandemic, countries in the European Union have deployed a wide range of economic measures to address the health emergency, to support incomes for households and to guarantee the viability of businesses. The economic response packages include similar types of instruments but differ in size and scope. Moreover, countries found themselves in different situations at the onset of the crisis, and the diverse characteristics of their labor and productive structures have also implied a different economic impact. This article compares the economic packages approved in nine different EU member states in three different dimensions: fiscal, labor and state aid, and evaluates them in the context in which they operate.

Resumen
The response to the pandemic has once again proven that the Eurosystem is in the front line of the preservation of the macroeconomic and financial stability, despite the decreasing effectiveness of the monetary policy. However, the operation of the federal system established in the Treaty on European Union has accumulated some severe deficiencies and inconsistencies, derived from the problems to respond to the previous crisis. On the long road towards a financial union, it is urgent to correct these weaknesses.

Resumen
The drive to create the banking union was both a far-reaching political response and a technical and institutional solution to the 2008 financial crisis, with no precedent in this field. Eight years after the political agreement that promoted this project, the banking union is a reality as far as its supervision and resolution pillars are concerned, despite the important future challenges that both frameworks face. However, the absence of progress in the deposit insurance pillar and other relevant components forces us to refer to the banking union as incomplete.

Resumen
This article systematically analyzes the negotiations between the EU-27 and the United Kingdom to define their future relationship after Brexit. In the commercial sphere, the commitments that guarantee fair competition and fishing constitute the main difficulties. Exchanges of services, particularly financial ones, are another crucial issue. Regarding security, defense, external relations and the governance of the agreement, the United Kingdom chooses to mark distances.

Resumen
This paper explores the correspondence between dominant citizens’ values, as observed in two main sets of international opinion surveys, and several key features of Spanish Law. Relative to comparable European countries, Spaniards show on average marked statist and anticompetitive preferences, which arguably favor an idealist conception of legislation as well as a tendency to impose mandatory rules on contractual freedom. To the extent that dysfunctions observed in Spain’s legal framework correspond to such values, these could help to explain the proliferation and recurrent failure of reform efforts.
