Poverty is a social issue approached by academia from several perspectives to support the devising of public and economic policies. Objective. To identify poverty reduction strategies for rural areas through the adoption of fair trade. Methodology. The case method was used to analyze the creation, development and evolution stages of banana producers’ cooperatives in the Department (State) of Magdalena (Colombia). Data was collected through surveys, interviews and field visits, following an interdisciplinary approach (business history, economics, social sciences). Results. The case analysis revealed that two of the six cooperatives studied emerged from the small producers’ own initiative, whereas the remaining arose as a way of adapting to market demands. Conclusion. Fair trade was found to be an important contributor to reducing poverty in the rural areas studied.

Customers may fulfil different roles in maritime shipping. Objective. To analyze loyalty in the relationships among maritime firms according to customer types (importers and freight forwarders), with sustainable practices and logistics value as loyalty-drivingvariables. Methodology. A sample of 105 Panamanian maritime shipping firms was analyzed by estimating a structural equation model. Results. The importance of logistics value in mediating the relationship between sustainable business practices and customer loyalty is demonstrated, and the influence of customer type on the proposed chained effects is substantiated. Conclusions. The chain of effects is heightened for importers while the loyalty strategy is supported by both logistic value and sustainable practices. The route for maintaining long-term relationships with this type of customer is thus outlined.

The changes that have come about in the subject-work relationship, those brought about by unconscious capitalism and the need to promote decisions with better impacts, not only economic and environmental, but also social, have contributed to the construct "healthy organizations" gaining more importance for those whose dynamic seeks to be immersed in the new sustainability standards; at least, from the discursive structures that begin to characterize them. Beyond a trend, it corresponds to one of the fundamental pillars of the culture of organizations for development and promotion of well-being, the satisfaction of human needs and quality of life of the workers.

Colombian society has many examples of corruption that have been accepted for being minor and that have become part of people's daily lives, becoming institutionalized as a culture that both the beneficiaries and the affected admit. Some of them can be mentioned: not respecting the queue for the entrance of vehicles to the parking lots; entering public performances late and overlooking the early arrival of other attendees; arrive last and enter the TransMilenio first; not respecting the lines in the banking entities or asking the one who is first to take care of the position while he does another errand; bring gifts to public employees to expedite procedures, credit applications and other similar. At a level that has a greater impact are actions such as influence peddling to achieve positions or favors —so common in all kinds of public and private organizations—, bribery to expedite operations and the abuse of power of certain executives in companies.

Over the last years, the Centre for Theatre Studies of the University of Lisbon has developed a set of tools and digital resources for the study of the History of Theatre. Its digital libraries contain scholarly editions of 16th and 17th century plays of Portuguese authors, along with the images of manuscripts and first editions. This set of materials dialogues with databases linked by a complex hypertext. Both the methodology and the digital tools led to the development of new perspectives in philology and theatre history. They may be regarded as a new paradigm for the research on classical Iberian drama.
