This review summarise the book 'La traducción audiovisual. Aproximaciones desde la academia y la industria', in which some authors explain to us this kind of translation from an academic point of view and the world of its industry.

Review of the book Teoría de la traducción: el pilar de la práctica traductora [Translation theory: the foundations of translation practice] by Inma Mendoza García, published by Comares in 2019.

Most university translation programmes are usually structured around translation practice modules in different translation fields, and in various language combinations and directions. Standard practice is for each module to focus on one language combination and one direction. Likewise, one of the implicit assumptions of this teaching model is that teachers should be native speakers of the target language of the class. This paper pursues two goals. First, it highlights some of the key issues that allow to explain the delegitimisation of translation A-B from a theoretical standpoint; secondly, it describes the findings of an exploratory study that used the qualitative research methods of focus groups to explore directionality from the perspective of translator trainees.

English is the lingua franca of science and its popularization is indispensable for modern societies. This paper analyzes the translation-popularization of highly specialized scientific titles—from English into Spanish and French— as newspaper headlines in the digital edition of ABC, El Mundo, EL País, La Presse (Canada), Le Figaro and Le Monde. Using a descriptive methodology, we study how these titles are translated from highly specialized English into popularized Spanish and French and we contrast their translation in the six newspapers mentioned above. The results of this study demonstrate some homogeneity in the headlines leading to 'glocal' translation.

Based on the assumption that flexive languages are permeable to morphological borrowings, this study analyzes the flexive differences of the medical language in French and Spanish. To that aim, we compiled a corpus made out of patient leaflets in French (80) and Spanish (80), given that this text type allows to compile a representative corpus requiring a smaller number of texts. Results showed gender and number variation in the terminology of this text type that would produce several interferences, resulting in structures that do not sound natural in the target language or, on the other hand, that are not used frequently in patient leaflets. Besides, results also highlight the value of corpora to extract not only terminology, but also specialized contexts to provide proper equivalences according to the text type to be translated.

This article analyses the only translation into Spanish of Rita Mae Brown's Rubyfruit Jungle (1973), translated in Spain by Jorge Binaghi in 1979. In order to do so, the study reviews lesbian narrative in English during the 20th century and the social and political factors that might have influenced its translation in Spain. An overview on Francoist literary censorship is followed by a discussion on how the Spanish literary market has received English lesbian novels and the case of Rubyfruit Jungle. Despite being one of the first lesbian novels published in democracy in Spain, the analysis suggests that the Francoist ideological paradigms are still perpetuated and have altered the translation.

In times of globalisation and mass communication, media and advertising create opinion trends and design lifestyles at a global level. The study of Rolex advertising campaigns will show to which extent these discourses can contribute to fix a feminine identity, different from the stereotypical and harmful representation which has been a tendency in the last few years, so translation works as the way of entrance of alternative ideologies.

This paper explores the type of rude or offensive language shift in the European Spanish dubbed version (DV) of the American TV series Breaking Bad (Gilligan, 2008-13). To perform this analysis, we have used a model designed for this purpose (Pérez, 2018) in particular to analyze the different aspects which have an influence on the effectiveness of offensive language in the DV of an audio-visual product. This model collects relevant data based on examples of offensive language from a selected sample of 10 Breaking Bad chapters. Several relevant studies in audio-visual translation (AVT) have been used in the confection of this analysis and the model. For the classification of the type of offensive language in the original version (OV) we have followed the one proposed by Wajnryb (2005), while we have used a specific classification for the cases in the DV (Pérez, Huertas y Gómez, 2017). Meaningful examples of offensive language are taken from the OV as well as from the DV in Spanish DV in order to analyze the similarities and differences between the two versions. Once the analysis of the type of offensive language shift has been carried out, the results will show which type is the most used in both versions and if there are changes, as well as if the effectiveness and register of swearing and offensive language in the DV into Spanish has been proved to be maintained.

The globalization of markets and the increasing commercial exchange between countries has led to a rise in legal claims due to problems related to fraud. This has made forensic auditing particularly relevant in legal settings, as well as the accounting forensic reports that arise from its activity, which have thus become a regular task in legal-economic translation. For this reason, the aim of this paper is to provide an approach to the characterization of an accounting forensic report by using an ad hoc comparable corpus (English-Spanish) , which will allow us to detail the macrostructure and microstructure of this text and analyze the main terminological units found for this language combination. This will provide specific details on the main characteristics of these documents as a previous step for their translation.
