Resumen
The discontinuous historical trajectory of interventions and research on rural youth in Chile over the last sixty years is examined in order to analyze the development of the subject in the country. It can be seen that the topic has been marked by different socio-political contexts and development strategies, and that different actors have participated in each period, showing a diversity of approaches and interests. Despite this, the country has not been able to develop a comprehensive policy on rural youth, and external visions that have excluded young people themselves from these processes have predominated. After the issue experienced great dynamism in the 1990s, the current temperate situation may lead to new reflections and perspectives that incorporate the lessons learned from the past.

Resumen
Preliminary results of a research that analyzes the centrality of consumer objects in the individuation processes of adolescents are presented. Some dynamics that can be recognized in the life stories of eight adolescents from Santiago de Chile are described, such as the search for personalization through the consumption of serial and fashionable objects and the consequent potentialities-limitations of the location in the social space. The subjects themselves reveal the permanent reconstruction of the stories, which moves simultaneously between affiliation to imaginary meanings embodied in specific reference groups, and opposition to others, which are embodied in rejected groups.

Resumen
he purpose of this paper is to describe some inequalities observed in secondary education in the Province of Concepción. More specifically, it shows that: a) there are inequalities not only between municipalized and private education but also within municipalized education. b) Significant differences are not always observed between private and municipalized education in terms of the possibilities of access to higher education. c) There is a strong migration of students from municipalized education between the municipalities of the Province of Concepción. However, this migration does not occur from municipal to private education.

Resumen
This article talks about the emergence of graffiti and the youth culture around it in Mexico City. To do so, I resort to different generational images that have served as icons of youth and the way of being young. In particularizing this youth culture, I take up images of socio-cultural context that allow us to understand the character of graffiti. I present a brief historical account of American and Mexican graffiti that takes New York City and later Mexico City as nodes of production. Finally, the different voices of the members of graffiti collectives harmonize with the emergence of graffiti.

Resumen
The present article is aimed at understanding the diverse cultural experiences from leftwing male and female young people during Unidad Popular period, on the basis of
three analysis axes: mass media, the production and consumption of music, and a more
private sphere linked to their understanding of sexuality and marijuana consumption.
Through the analyzed sources, including magazines, press, audiovisual documents and
interviews from the time, we problematize towards the construction of youth schemes
or prototypes made up a dual vision of culture: on the one hand, a young individual
who is not interested in the country and attracted to the hippie movement; on the other
hand, a young individual who is highly committed to the social and political problems
of Chile. However, we state that the left-wing young culture worked in this research
accounts for cultural experiences, defined as the diverse proposals and alternatives
which young individuals gravitated towards, that are characterized by the attractiveness
of the Hippie movement, the Nueva Canción Chilena movement, the new and groundbreaking ways of living sexuality and marijuana consumption. All these elements
configured a part of the revolutionary youth identity, as they designated themselves.

Resumen
This article presents the general findings obtained from a qualitative research
on the construction of memory on the recent past in Chile. On the basis of the
analysis of the way that television fiction series produced in the context of
commemorating 40 years of the military coup are received by three generations
of TV viewers, it is discussed the way they trigger different readings of the past
portrayed on them according to each viewer’s experience. These results show a
prominence of the «intergenerational reading» encouraged by series from a
critical, active viewing.
