Resumen
Our Western society can be characterized conceptually from different notions according to the axes of observation in the analysis privilege. In the case of this reflective exercise, the main focus is the relationship between age classes, specifically youth and adulthood. From that perspective, we say that this is an adult-centered society, produced as a result of various economic and political processes that have materially strengthened this mode of societal organization and construction of sociocultural matrix, on a symbolic level, power recreation and play, imaginary building that directly affect relationships and identity processes of different social subjects. This reflection shows processes that have enabled the emergence and reproduction of an adultcentered society, read from the conditions and situations of young people.

Resumen
This work intends to discuss an approach to the problem of identity in young men and women from popular sectors into three categories: age, class and gender, which would allow a central theme from which these subjects experience the condition of subordination. The ethnographic approach, the core of this discussion, will contrast the native sense of the subjects that are the subject of this discussion, certain cultural images that circulate today youth and finding in them a condensation of «social evils» that would be affecting and endangering the «normal» functioning of societies. Together, and against the subordinate question; can a subordinate subject have their say? The objective of this study intends to investigate the extent to which intellectuals are willing to listen to various forms of communication among the subjects in question.

Resumen
The central hypothesis developed in this article is that the distrust of young people in others, and especially distrust of institutions, is the bedrock of social unrest that has been expressed in recent times on the streets of Chile and beyond national borders. Such discomfort is being articulated in an international youth movement called the «outraged». This article works with the partial results of the investigation «linkages between construction and deconstruction of social cohesion and confidence in young students in secondary education: guidelines for strengthening democracy», funded by Fondecyt.

Resumen
Traditionally, juvenile participation was restricted to the sphere of classical institutions and leftist political parties, which made the theme of democratic participation problematic. However, the juvenile actor of excellence was always the center of the student movement. To amplify the comprehension of these processes, it might be helpful to diminish the distance between school and young people, showing that apathy and disinterest can be a search for other educational contexts. This text, guided by the studies of researchers that have produced knowledge about juvenile participation, points to different profiles which amplify the traditional point of view of political party participation. It is the mission of teachers, especially History teachers, to be aware of such questions, understanding that youth pursues knowledge acquired in different educational spaces, which implies the renovation of content and educational methods. The theoretical mark of this reflection comes from the understanding of juvenile participation in the writings of Rosana Reguillo, Leslie Sema, José Antônio Pérez Islas, Regina Novais and Helena Abramo, and attempts to comprehend the different forms, content and processes of mobilization of contemporary youth. The concept of youths is based upon the sociological investigation of Marília Sposito, Mario Margulis, José Machado Pais and Alberto Melucci, with the objective of articulating the conceptual definitions of the youth with those of participation, and relating these discussions to school. The ideas collected here are meant to instigate discussions and debates between the youth and educators, looking to reframe the meanings attributed to collective juvenile actions found in contemporary society.
