This paper addresses the conceptualizations existing about the sociological category of youth. Firstly, we present the functionalist conceptualization of cycles of life and the biographical conceptualization in depth, which can be also called transition sociology. The biographical conceptualization arises from the work crisis in the mid 70, which had an impact in the increasing of unemployment rate and the backwardness of stable employment. Secondly, we present the nominalist conceptualization, which is based on the theory of the generations of Mannheim. Finally, the conclusion stresses that one of the challenges in our field of research is the sociological delimitation of youth, and, consequently, a solution has to be found.

Diagnosis of youth employment problems generally associated with two dimensions: the first, referred to issues relating to the «work culture» and its disintegration after years of massive unemployment, and the second, based on the qualification problems. However, limited by «loyalists» approaches, many of these diagnoses are unaware of the existence of specifically popular logics of functioning of the cultural capital, of differential spaces and of bets linked to singular dispositions. This paper discusses, from the perspective of popular culture, the category of «cultural capital» applied to the understanding of the business strategies of youth from a poor neighborhood of the city of Córdoba.

In 2011, Indignados have traveled the world. In Spain, with the 15-M movement, thousands of people camped in the city squares. In Barcelona, emerged the «#acampadabcn», a face to face and virtual agora for discussion and political and social action. This paper studies the profile of the Indignant Catalans and identifies their communication and organizational practices, both offline and online. These features are compared with alter activists and new social movements. As these movements, the M-15 has remained the scene of Internet as information and action. The main difference lies in the tools used and their use.

The purpose of this article is to give an approximation to the «imaginary ones» that teachers have of municipal schools, particular subsidized and private, to their students, their cultures and the school culture they carry into schools. It is part of an exploratory study that sought to investigate the possibilities of integration of youth cultures at school cultures, particularly in the area called high-school or secondary school. To account for this, it was necessary to enter in the imaginary ones that teachers built on youth, youth cultures and school cultures. This way, this article tries to describe these «imaginary ones», trying to accede to the existing shades, to identify the tensions that emerge from the constructions that realize respect of the cultures that were investigated and his possibilities of integration and comprehension. The article is closed, with an interpretive exercise, which allows to understand the information produced from the categories of: «juvenile prejudices and the question of gender»; the nonexistence of a clear vision on the part of the teachers of what they are the juvenile cultures; as the idea of that «the teacher has never been young» and, some metaphors of the school.

In this paper we will study the generational issue from an ethnographic approach by taking the empirical case of young circus artist protagonists of the resurgence of these arts in the city of Buenos Aires (Argentina) from the postdictatorial years until today (1983-2013). We will analyze how by the ends of the year 2000, from modifications tending to a major legitimization of these arts, a differential experience became objective for some of the artists who had begun his practices in the 90s and a reading arose in generational key of the past. Also, we will study the relationships between old circus family tradition and new artists that did not come from this tradition and were formed by some of these references. From the case, we will examine the changeable and dynamic contents of significance of the degrees of age in link with the tradition and the social change as well as the process of social construction of the generations.

The experiences of youth community action are multiple and longstanding in our country. In them, various types of organizations have attempted to carry out action strategies territories and communities. The present analysis searches: to debate concerning the conceptions of community and of community action in contexts of unrestrained capitalism; to observe how the generational relations are constructed in these experiences and which are the conceptions of youths that (re) produce; realize of the methodological tensions that in them are demonstrated; and to raise tracks on possibilities and opportunities that are opened to incorporate horizons of equity/generational equality/solidarity in this community action. The central hypothesis to discuss, is that the community action with young people have lacked perspectives that relieve the juvenile contributions as nutrient politics of the processes in development, remaining rather installed on adult- centered notions that make invisible or they deny the above mentioned contributions and that they debilitate the possibilities of construction of community. The above mentioned turns out to be reinforced in a context of individualism that encourages the abandon of the collective thing and the community thing as social will.

The article focuses on the cultural codes involved in the construction of models of female beauty in today and how these affect the behavior of middleclass youth living in the City of Buenos Aires. Between the principal topics we investigate in what measure the young women feel addressed by the aesthetic models spread by the mass media and what degree of influence they practice in the configuration and social production of the bodies and juvenile subjectivities.

The intent of this document is to give an overview of the profile of young women in Mexico in terms of employment, time use and reproductive health, looking to supplement this description with an analysis from a gender perspective. Our proposal is to consider gender as a «symbolic order» imposed on gender specific behaviors that support the construction and organization of social relations, it is no coincidence that the woman may be assigned domestic work, unpaid work but important to the reproduction of the labor force.
