Departing from the pairing between literature and philosophy we propose an analysis, an interpretation and an interview with the writer José Ovejero. We delve into his work La ética de la crueldad, which was published in 2012 when he won the Premio Anagrama de Ensayo (Anagrama Essay Award). The new pairing proposed by the title, almost an oxymoron, will be the subject of a brief review of other traditional and problematic associations such as ethics and aesthetics, essay and literature, avoidance and transgression, or politics and education.

This paper is a close reading of David Foster Wallace’s Good old neon. We connect this short story with other Wallace’s works and with other documents of culture in order to think about our present time, about postmodernity and its contradictions. We analyze the possible ties between social success and personal failure, the paradoxes of reason and calculus, the link between competitiveness and emotional blockage and the commodification of experience. In addition to that we emphasize the literary and rethoric devices employed by David Foster Wallace with the purpose of represent and confront a diagnosis that was also his own.

Poetry and Philosophy are ways of thinking through language. Their links have been marked by affinities, disagreements and even by certain relationships of disciplinary domination. Within this framework of understanding it is evident that the activity of one and the other has not always been complementary. Therefore, situating ourselves only within a common field of work, that is, when poetry and philosophy establish a declared complicity, this article intends to analyse one of the objectives shared by both, which has also been pointed out, within our tradition, by both poets and philosophers. Specifically, we intend to trace here some of the aesthetic reflections that have understood poetry and philosophy as a critique of the existing and an opening to new possibilities of interpretation, representation and action on the real.

The present article constitutes a study of the theory Poetics of Sentiments, or Sentimental Poetics, of the literary theorist Antonio García Berrio. First of all, we would deal with the present situation of the investigations about the concept of Poetics of Sentiments in order to demonstrate the insufficiency of its theoretic discussions and the necessity of its further study. Hence, we would outline a breve history of the evolutions of the above-mentioned concept in the thoughts of García Berrio in order to penetrate the genetic roots and the diachronic ratiocination of the Poetics of Sentiments. Lastly, we would attempt to establish relations between the Sentimental Poetics and the concepts of the cognitive linguistic circle so as to discover the confluences between the two perspectives, the cognitive basis of the first and the epistemological superiority of the above-mentioned poetics in comparison with the second, and furthermore, to reflect on the cognitive potentialities and the development of the possible constructivist dimensions of the Poetics of Sentiments.

The symbolic aspect of openness or access that Cortázar grants to jazz music, is shown, in a literary way, and for the first time together with fiction, in El perseguidor. And the same goes for the link between jazz and Paris. In this sense, Cortázar's first osmosis with the French capital will determine the existential turn that will make the writer move the center of his literature to the ontological terrain and integrate in his writing the idea of the city and jazz music as passages to the stratum of a timeless suprareal reality, only apprehendable in fleeting access.

In these pages I aim to locate certain cultural drifts in which theory still proves to be a critical questioning tool within the epistemic context of postmodernity. Under these conditions, literature can no longer be explained with the more traditional and orthodox aesthetic approaches; it rather becomes necessary to address its different practices in the light of a critical philosophy of culture that may guide us in such complex panorama.

The present article analyses the main topics and some stylistic aspects of Hegel's poetic production, from 1796 to 1800. Not only Eleusis, his best known poem, but all Hegel's poetic compositions deal with the possibility of a reconciliation between nature and spirit, overcoming the dichotomies of Kantian philosophy. Hölderlin's influence and the possibility of an escape into the irrational are the main reasons that induce Hegel to write in verse. These two factors are also the main reasons for the subsequent abandonment of poetry by the author of the Phenomenology of the Spirit.
