This paper deals with the presence and function of philosophical elements within the referent of literary works. An analysis of the long short story Zurita of Leopoldo Alas “Clarín”  is carried out in order to demonstrate the importance of that function starting from the referent and from the intensionalisation of the philosophical elements in the construction of a cultural-rhetorical communicative code and in the perlocutionary effect on the readers. Since the philosophical referential elements are cultural ones, the methodological perspective of Cultural Rhetoric is used and tested in this analysis.

The creation of the neologims “afept” comes to question the difference between philosophy and literature in the sense of the metaphysical tradition. Although  it is no posible to sum up that two fields in only one name, because both have a lot of variety, philosophy has always tried to mark the distances in relation to literature. Our subject explains, through a close reading of Mukarovsky’s theory of the aesthetic function, and taking into account the tradition that it inaugurated, the reason why the “afept”, one of the main concepts of the criticism as sabotaje or the theory of world’s model, reveals the epistemologic power of literatura, and that it can be the source of the truth, even if it is negative. We use the Juan Ramón Jiménez’s poem “El viaje definitivo” as a guide for our argument.

In the first months of 1939, Marina Tsvietáieva and María Zambrano were in Paris awaiting for some documents. The poet, those allowing to return to Rusia, after decades of absence. The philosopher, those allowed her to leave for America. Apparently, the poet was finishing her exile while the philosopher was starting hers. Both of them, coming from those geographical extremes that would end up tearing out themselves from the common idea of Europe. And both of them shared a personal, social and symbolic common burden mirrored in their works: a world of shameless violence, where women’s creativity and thought received the deserved and rightful echo. This article focusses on the search for a new common space, imagining what their conversation could have been in case Marina Tsvietáieva and María Zambrano had met.

This article aims to analyze the presence of the uncanny, following Freud's approach, in  the short stories collection A master of the sensation by Andres Ibáñez. In a series of contemporary short stories residing between tradition and modernity and in an author who, due to his vitality, positivism and spiritual concerns, is difficult to associate with the uncanny. However ,the world of these stories is so varied and multiform, including disturbing stories of shadows, monsters and endless sinister motifs. Its originality lies, above all, in its novel perspective and in the combination of different elements such as eroticism, fantasy, humour, the world of comics, the macabre, vampires, meteorites and so on. In my analysis I have searched for both the aesthetic presence of his images, of a sinister nature, as well as the presence of the uncanny, in stories in which, were not to its theme or style, the disturbing appearance of the sinister would not be expected.

According to Hans Blumenberg, the history of western thought is the history of the multiple human efforts to take shelter in confrontation with the “absolutism of reality”. This papers aims to locate Blumenberg´s metaphorology within the frame of the “historical philosophyzing” supported by Nietzsche at the beginning of Human, all too human and the philosophical and non-reductionist naturalism supported by J. M. Schaeffer in The end of human exception. Blumenberg´s absolute metaphor is interpretated from the perspective of the natural history of an inteligent and perplexed animal characterized by the logic of phantasy, the poetic capacity of language and abstract thinking.

Writers have found a new space on the Internet where they can spread their literary works and be more active among readers. The social network Twitter is one of the most developed in this regard, favoring, for the brevity of its publications, genres such as poetry, aphorism or micro-fiction. In the case of flash fiction, many users utilize twitter to publish either their own texts or those of other authors. At the same time, these writers establish a relationship with readers different than the one provided by printed books. In this article we will analyze these relationships and, more especifically, how, in the context of flash fiction in Twitter, the implied author’s image is shaped by the reader. Furthermore, we will study the differences between the various types of users who write or reproduce micro-fictions and the potentialities and problems that this kind of publication poses.

In 1919 Sigmund Freud published The Uncanny, a key text to understand the aesthetic category of the uncanny. The roots of this category can be traced back to the German Romanticism, as Freud himself remarked. Nevertheless, even when Freud’s interpretation of the uncanny and the Romantic interpretation share the same ground, there are differences to be explored, differences related to the historical context of each author and their understanding of concepts such as symbol or reason. Thus, the paper focuses on the contrast between Romantic theories and Freudian theories, aiming to explain how the different interpretations evolve from the romantic authors to Freud.

What are the traits that define female literary production? Is it possible to change the canon of literature by inserting female production with its characteristics without incurring transgressions? Can the canon be opened to new forms of literature? In attempting to ask ourselves these questions, we define the state of the current question on the concept of canon and draw up proposals for subversion of the canon in terms of fusion of genres, analyzing a concrete case of female literary-theatrical production —quite isolated too, and even more if declined in the feminine— in the context of slam-poetry.

This paper deals with the relation between literature and philosophy within existentialist thought. This relation is studied in the narrative field and in what is called 'the existential novel'. An analysis of the main characteristics of this kind of narrative demonstrates why literature is a privileged medium of expression for existentialism. The methodological perspective of Comparative Literature is used in this analysis.

The paper discusses the definition of youth considering several ways in which the transition to the adult life may occur. Insertion in school, labour market and in family were the considered dimensions. It is based in an empirical analysis using the General Household Survey (PNAD) of 1982 and 2002. It analyses several modalities of transition from youth life to adult one considering those who left parental home and those who did not. The results show a great variety of situations of transition to adult life. It was suggested that this process is characterized by nonlinear trajectories of the life stages. For instance, children may precede marriage, marriage may occur without a job, etc. Also, transition to adult life may take place through new family arrangements that do not require that the youth population leave parental home. It was not possible to conclude that the processes of transition are or not reversible. It is believed that all the stages of this process can be reversible.
