Sommario.

Introduction: After the Law of reservation of vacancies for People with Disabilities, Macaé Medical School received the first Deaf Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) user medical student. Justification: We aim to report challenges and adaptations made on the Human Anatomy discipline to suit the Deaf’s learning process, considering the urgent need to create accessibility for the academic. Methodology: Research-Action conducted by the discipline team perspective on the process of reorganization and adaptation of didactic activities, such as theoretical and palpatory classes, practices, after-class support, visits to health services and exams. Development: Almost all activities were carried out with the help of a Libras Interpreter. Practical and palpatory lessons had an individual approach with Teaching Assistants, optimized lesson scripts and Photographic Atlas. Despite the visual teaching strategies, we recognize the difficulty of learning the contents, in particular, due to the linguistic barrier. Conclusion: We understand the need to consult members of deaf community to design better pedagogical methodologies. The creation of signs on the health sciences field is the next step to make medical training accessible to the deaf.

This article carries out critical reflections on the performance of the Public Power in the scope of the Social Assistance policy in the city of Rio de Janeiro regarding the homeless population in Covid-19 times. It aims to explain the actions that are being developed with this population and their impacts on their lives, with emphasis on how to make “stay at home” operational for those who have the street as their place of residence and sustenance. Thus, the paper aims at discussing how the capitalist state, in this case the aforementioned municipality, is acting towards this social issue, based on the spread of its accentuated coercive dimension in the scenario of complexity of the structural crisis of capital. This study presents a brief introduction of who these people are and how they are being cared for during the new coronavirus pandemic by the Social Assistance Policy. Secondly, it discusses their main demands in this context as well as the crucial aspects to be faced in order to have access to their rights. It concludes by proposing collective strategies for a more effective and qualified assistance that may provide rights to this population.

The legal-normative framework of health policy, which was based on the Brazilian health movement and was embodied in the Unified Health System (SUS), is marked in its conception by an expanded vision based on the universality of access and health as a right and, therefore, cannot be regulated by the market. However, since its beginnings, which date back to the Federal Constitution of 1988, SUS has been suffering the effects of the State's counter-reform - despite resistance from social movements -, translated especially in the implementation of privatizing management models and in public funding, like the Constitutional Menu No. 95/2016. This is a particularly dramatic scenario in the current context of the COVID-19 pandemic, which unveils the devastating effect of the scrapping of health services, still traversed by the historic Brazilian social inequality, which has particularly harmful impacts for the most impoverished population of blacks and browns.
