This article is part of the development of the Labor Conflict Observatory of the Province of Mendoza. Our main objective is to focus on one of its most relevant aspects: articulation of different levels of abstraction in the selection of analytical categories, variables and dimensions. From the Latin American Configurationism, we first work with the sense of conflict (abstract), then we approach Mendoza”s social formation (historical concrete) to finally consider the importance of the determination of public conflictive actions that indicate forms of political subjectivation. This route provides an epistemological-theoretical and historical reflection about the tool set in motion based on the monitoring of social conflict.

The discussion begins by reviewing the different paradigms or research traditions. Subsequently, the authors draw from theoretical-methodological approaches ”” such as hermeneutics, self-ethnography, narrative research, action research, postmodern thought, and decolonial theory ”” to place the researcher as a producer of knowledge whose position influences the research itself. The conclusions emphasize the role played by reflexivity and commitment in the relationship researcher-researched.

The concept of e-democracy has great heuristic potential; refers to those political phenomena that occur due to the convergence between ICTs and democracy. Although the emergence of the expression is recent, it is considered that if the term is worked in a critical way, it can become a very useful analytical tool to study contemporary political phenomena. In this context, a three-level conceptualization work is carried out on this expression. The conceptual construction allows to have a tool with great abstract capacity, which helps to order, understand and explain the emergence and dynamics of countless processes under the same analytical framework.

Through an effort to approach the epistemic program of social anthropology and that of Participatory Action Research (PAR), we observe the similarities and differences that both establish concerning the category of participation. An ethnographic estrangement exercise is carried out on two PAR experiences with indigenous communities of Jujuy (NW Argentina) in which the author has participated, thus highlighting two different mediation roles that occur in PAR. It is proposed that one of these roles, namely 'stimulation agent', may serve to the social researcher as a legitimate opening key to a given social field, by integrating him/her in instances that we name here as ‘epi’ and ‘meta’ workshop. Consequently, we propose an alternative way of considering the PAR epistemic contract, by recovering the concept of participation from ethnography, thus allowing an epistemological reciprocity bond between researcher and subaltern social subjects, by means of which two products, and not just one, may be obtained from the PAR experience: one of them being the scientific product – the paper –, which serves to the researcher; and the other one being a collective emancipation experience, which serves subaltern social subjects to ease certain aspects of their everyday livelihoods.

This article recovers some of the productions of the Colombian historian and popular educator Alfonso Torres Carrillo made in the last ten, precursor of the so-called edge research proposal, theoretical-methodological and ethical-political option. With the aim of positioning this proposal, while linking its contribution with contemporary thinkers in the region, I hope from this work to contribute to the dissemination of qualitative, dialogical and participatory critical methodologies characterized by centrality in the subject and subjectivity, the displacement of objectivity towards reflexivity and solidarity in collective processes of knowledge construction.

The article addresses some dilemmatic questions of a theoretical-methodological nature that arose in the exercise of reflexivity typical of all critically oriented social research. The study of clandestine social practices has historically attracted the interest of researchers for its methodological and ethical implications, the clandestine practices that we address refer to male sexuality, which adds another density to the research, especially in relation to fieldwork and the interpretation of information. In the first part, the text contextualizes the research that originates this reflection in conceptual terms and locates it in a specific socio-cultural space. Subsequently, some methodological decisions that structure our approach to fieldwork from the ethnographic approach are explained. In the last part, some methodological prescriptions of researchers in the field of sexuality studies and recognized authors of the ethnographic approach are contrasted, with records extracted from the field survey log, elaborated in the participant observation process carried out in clandestine sexual practices of men who have sex with men. This contrast aims to show the methodological tensions that the social researcher must face when dealing with an object connoted by clandestinity, as well as some dilemmatic questions of an ethical nature.

Analog content analysis (ACA) combines content analysis with analogue hermeneutics, allowing hierarchy of the validity of analytical categories and integrating several interpretative levels within the same exercise. The objective of this article is to discuss the scope and limitations of ACA, taking the analysis of bioethics in the curriculum of the Division of Biological and Health Sciences at the Autonomous Metropolitan University as an example. There, ACA facilitated making inferences about the context of text production, the actual teaching practice, and establishing horizons to guide future exercises on curricular design.

The article gathers reflections on an experience of technological linkage between university, public prosecutor's office and human rights organizations for the investigation of the documentary collection of the Archive Section of the Department of Police Information of Santiago del Estero. The text reviews the particularities of the research process analyzing the conditions that made possible and limit access to its documentary collection; the contributions of history, archives and anthropology to produce the epistemological shifts necessary for the reading and interpretation of its files beyond police logic and its potential contributions for legal and academic research.

This work is part of a project that tries to develop methodological strategies to analyze the consensus in disputes over hegemony. We do not have an interface that links the most abstract theoretical questions of hegemony theory with the research techniques developed by the social sciences. In order to move forward on this issue, we have developed a theoretical-methodological approach to study the interpellation effectiveness of the proposals that seek to be hegemonic. After synthetically presenting this proposal, we try to exemplify its usefulness by exposing the results of an investigation on the construction of hegemony of the agribusiness model in current Pampas agriculture.
