Resumen
To approach the subject, two works were chosen, one from Costa Rica and the other from El Salvador. From a literary perspective, they illustrate aspects of the Central American society with problems such as violence, male chauvinism, social repression, and delinquency. Through a comparative study and from the perspective of rhizome theory, proposed by Deleuze and Guatarri, the behavior of the protagonist of each work is analyzed, displaying characteristics of a dual personality or schizophrenia in that society.

Resumen
An analysis is conducted on the representation of model women in the short story “Movimiento perpetuo,” by Augusto Monterroso. The study is composed of three phases: a critical apparatus to approach the text, the analysis itself, and an explanation and interpretation of sexism. This shows how literature can reproduce discourses legitimized in systems of oppression. In this case, a description is provided of the way the author represents the female character based on the features of the exemplary woman: submission, subjection and obedience.

The aim of this research is to study the use of literature-based cultural material to reinforce speaking and writing skills by using folktales (general culture) and short stories (home culture) in oral and written expression in the English Teaching major. The analysis of a questionnaire for teachers and students indicates that those texts are rarely used to strengthen the productive skills. Based on this, a proposal has been devised to blend world and home culture with language competence to develop written and oral activities in the classroom.

Resumen
This research describes and analyzes common vocabulary errors found in the written production of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students. Based on the lexical errors identified, the analysis of the data was carried out by adapting James’ lexical error taxonomy and included the written production of 56 students from the Universidad Nacional (Costa Rica). It can be concluded that the participants had more lexical errors in semantics and less at the level of discourse. Recommendations on teaching methodologies to correct lexical errors related issues are included.
