?«Keratella I» campaign along the middle Paraná river, I. Fishes from lenithic environments? Fishes from twenty lenitic environments of the alluvial plain of the Middle Paraná River through 700 km length (between Diamante City (32°05?S and 60°40?W) and Paso de la Patria City (27°20?S and 58°35?W) are studied. Physical and chemical characteristics of the water bodies are given. The presence of different fish species of little and medium size are analized. From 85 taxa found, 19 belong to species in which their range is extended. Aphyocharax dentatus, Apistogramma borellii, Bunocephalus rugosus and Psellogrammus kennedyi are cited for the Middle Paraná River.

The reproductive cycle of the anchovy of the Buenos Aires platform (Pisces, Fam. Engraulidae, Engraulis anchoita)? The study was carried out by means of the histological analysis of the female?s gonads. Fecundity was determined. This information was completed with the corresponding data, obtained from the sampling performed from 1969 to 1975: total length and total gonads weight, sex ratio and sexual maturity stages.

Handling and feeding of howler monkeys (Alouatta caraya) in Argentine Center of Primates? The author details the experiences he accomplished with 85 Howler Monkeys, for 14 months. He describes the captivity systems (corrals and cages), the diet compounds, the anaesthetic utilized, and the animals? weight evolution. He noted a high degree of matings in caged animals, and the birth of a monkey in a corral.

?Distribution types of the Discoeliinae subfamily with descriptions of two new genera from Argentina (Hymenoptera: Eumenidae)? The subfamily Discoeliinae contains 13 genera in the world classified in two tribes, Discoeliini and Zethini. Most genera (9) are in the more primitive tribe Discoeliini and are restricted to specific zoogeographic regions. Furthermore 66% of the genera are restricted to the southern hemisphere. Neodiscoelius is overall the genus with most primitive characters. 1t is restricted to the temperate beech forests of Argentina and Chile and may be related to Australozethus which predominates in the Bassian faunal province of Australia. The Zethini contains four genera, two restricted to Australia, one to the Antartic Region of southern South America and the very large genus Zethus which is nearly cosmopolitan. Observations on the distribution patterns are presented with special emphasis on the New World forms. Two new genera and one new species are described from Argentina. A key to the genera is provided.

?Discovery of Scomber japonicus peruanus (Jordan and Hubbs, 1925) (Teleostomi, Scombridae) off the coast of Valdivia, Chile? Six specimens of Scomber japonicus peruanus (Jordan and Hubbs, 1925) were found of Curiñaneo (39°41?S; 73°22?W), Chile. This is the new southernmost limit to the distribution of the species on the chilean coast (500 km further south of Valparaíso). On the basis of the presence of this species and the clasmobranchs Myliobatis chilensis and Galeorhinus zyopterus in the zone around 40°S a discussion is presented concerning the periodic heating of the water mass, which allows the extention of warmer-water species into these cool waters.

?Artificial diets and posture capacity of Chrysopa lanata lanata (Banks) under laboratory conditions? Research have been done to satisfy the following objectives: 1) To obtain an artificial diet for increasing fecundity and fertility of Ch. lanata lanata under laboratory conditions without affecting natural mortality of the species. 2) To employ that new diet for the ecological management of the predator populations in the field. The first proposed objective was completely satisfied by the selected diet. The possibilities to employ that new diet under field conditions are still in course, but the good insect production obtained and the low cost of the diet are the best arguments in that sense.

?Note on Phiale crocuta (Taczanowski, 1879), its distribution and its synonyms (Aranae, Salticidae)? The study of a collection of Salticidae spiders from different parts of Perú and Ecuador, has resulted in the finding of a little known species: Phiale crocuta (Taczanowski), which appears to be very abundant in the neighbourhood of buildings and cultivated fields. The study of the type specimens of Sandalodes calvus Simon, 1902 and Phiale bispinosa Banks, 1930 proves that both are synonyms of Phiale crocuta. The geographical distribution is then enlarged from the American Pacific coast of Perú and Ecuador to the Galápagos Islands and to some Polynesian Islands as the Marquises and Société Is.

Taxonomic analysis of the subspecies of Merluccius gayi (Teleostomi, Gadiformes)? Samples of Merluccius gayi from Chile and Peru arc compared in order to analyse the validity of Ginsburg's subspecific proposition; the study of the trends of geographic variation related to temperature is included. The percentages of intergradation and the coefficients of difference obtained are not sufficient to secure subspecific identification beyond the 60% of the specimens from two samples. There is a general trend for characters such as these to vary clinally over the geographic range of the species. These changes are related to a diminution of the temperature of the bottom.
