This monophagous species is found on Schinus molle in areas of the Quebrada de Humahuaca (Jujuy). For the recognition, on the different,, larvae instars a dilematic key was prepared. A clear relationship between larval fecal pellets and head capsules was found (Dyar’s law). The high reproductive capacity, adaptation to the physical environment (hibernal diapause, spring birth, nocturnal greater activity) and biotic factors (low predation and parasitism) may explain the efficiency of this species as a pest insect.

This paper deals with some biological considerations on Osmilia violacea, its preimaginal life and two characters which permit a clear and relatively easy separation of the different instars: the number of antennal segments of the basal group and the number of ocular bands. Furthermore, data on sexual maturity, copulation, oviposition, egg-pods and duration of the embryonal period are given.

Argentine and South American Hemerobiidae (Neuroptera-Planipennia) are among the most characteristic Planipennia distributed al over the world, including isolated islands. The genera Pirionius Navas 1928 and Spinomegalomus Nakahara 1965 are included into Megalomus. The following new synonymy is indicated: Megalomus linguatus Navas 1910 = Megalomus intricatus Navas 1914 = Megalomus infuscatus Navas 1914 = Megalomus princeps Navas 1932 = Megalomus nanus Navas 1933 = Megalomus bridarolli Navas 1933. The new Platinodesmini tribe (fam. Chelodesmidae, Diplopoda) is formed, with those genera that have in common, in addition to other characters, the modification of the coxae of the first pair of legs in the male. The two species of platinodesmus (P. argentineus and P. cordobensis) are discussed and illustrated; Diagnoses and figures based on type of Stachyproctus species (S. cameranii and S. codicillus) are provided, Misidentified items S. codicillus and all indications belong to S. cameranii, Astrophogonus is based on Polydesmus henselii Karsch; this is redescribed on the basis of the original holotype.
