An exploratory study was carried out with the main objective of examining the differences in the sexual attitudes of gifted persons (ACI) and other participants from the General Population, in terms of their Intelligence (PGI). The sample contained 126 people (80 PGI people and 46 ACI). Participants completed the ATSS scale (2005). All participants in the sample showed attitudes tending towards conservatism. The comparisons carried out, on the basis of age or gender, showed that: a) older people reported more liberal attitudes than younger people, who were more conservative, and b) men had higher values in erotophilia (a more liberal attitude) than women, with the exception of abortion, in which women were more liberal. The comparisons between PGI and ACI showed statistically significant differences in the Factor that refers to pornography, with ACI people being more conservative about this issue.

Using a problem-solving training model applied to a Mexican population sample with diabetes mellitus2 (DM2), the influence of the level of schooling in the acquisition of problem-solving skills for glycemic control was investigated. Twenty adults diagnosed with DM2 participated, 12 men and 8 women, with an average age of 60.17 years for men and 61.25 years for women and with an average schooling of 15.67 and 9.13 years for men and women, respectively. Before and after the face-to-face training workshop, the degree of problem-solving skills was estimated using a 16-item questionnaire, as well as the level of blood glucose. The comparison between the measurements before and after the workshop showed that the group with the highest level of education obtained better grades than the one with the lowest level of education, both in the problem-solving test and in the glycemic control. The result confirms the importance of considering in the instructional design of training workshops in problem-solving skills, the educational level of the target population, in order to improve the tools available for glycemic management.

The objective of this study was the adaptation to Spanish of the ASC ASD-P (Anxiety Scale for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, parental version), the only instrument specifically designed to assess anxiety in this population. A non-probabilistic, convenience sample (N = 87) was used, consisting of children and adolescents with ASD between 6 and 18 years. Direct and reverse translation was performed. The factorial structure of the scale and its correspondence with the dimensions of the original version were evaluated. The construct validity was calculated with the ERC, SSP and IUS scales. Internal consistency analysis was performed using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. The exploratory factor analysis yielded a solution of 4 factors, replicative of the structure of the original scale. As convergent validity measures, statistically significant correlations were found between the different scales with a statistical significance of p <.01 in all of them. The internal consistency was .925 for the full scale. The data obtained show that the Spanish version of the ASC ASD scale replicates the factor structure of the original scale and constitutes a valid instrument for the evaluation of anxiety in population with ASD.

The present study aims to present the argentine adaptation and validation process of the Self-concept Clarity Scale for adolescents. For this purpose, three studies were conducted. In total 551 adolescents (13 to 19 years old and of both genders) from schools in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA). Study 1: It presents the linguistic adaptation and psychometric properties analysis of the scale (exploratory factor analysis and content validity). Study 2: It confirms the internal structure of the scale (confirmatory factor analysis). Study 3: It strengthens the construct validity by relating self-concept clarity with the possible selves of the adolescents. The results show that linguistic and conceptual adaptation of the scale has been achieved. At the same time, it has an adequate content, factorial and construct validity, and a good internal consistency

The case of a 2.5-year-old sheep sent for diagnostic evaluation is presented. At the necropsy, mucoid degeneration of coronary fat, pleural adhesions, hypostatic congestion, hemoperitoneum, reticulum, rumen, omasum, and abomasum distention were found. The most significant finding was the whitish, hard-to-touch appearance of the right atrium. The atrial sample was decalcified for sectioning and histopathology study. The histology of the section performed revealed: extensive areas of cartilaginous metaplasia, swelling, and undulation of cardiac muscle fibers, fatty infiltration between cardiac fibers, as well as figures compatible with Sarcocystis. The clinical chemistry indicated hyperphosphatemia and hypermagnesemia. According to the process for the sheep diagnostic evaluation, cartilaginous metaplasia of the right atrium, associated with the ingestion of Trisetum flavescens was found. In the different animal species, the probability of progressive poisoning from the consumption of toxic plants is a risk that can occur in any animal production system.

Chlamydia abortus causes a series of reproductive disorders in ruminants, including abortions, premature births and stillbirths. Additionally, as a zoonosis, it can cause miscarriages or pneumonia in people who come in contact with sick animals or their secretions. The objective of this study was to isolate C. abortus from Mexican goats with a history of abortion and from recently parturient goats with a history of abortion; 186 samples were collected from 49 herds in the states of Coahuila, Jalisco, Puebla, Veracruz and Querétaro. Bacterial isolation of the clinical samples was performed using the mouse fibroblast cell line L929 and molecular identification was achieved by amplification of a 342 bp fragment corresponding to the 16S-23S ribosomal intergenic spacer RNA region. The amplification products were sequenced and compared with the GenBank database. Isolation identified 23.1% of the samples and PCR identified 9.6% as positive. Homology search revealed 100% identity with Chlamydia abortus EF486854, U76710, U68444, among others. The presence of C. abortus was confirmed in goats with a history of abortion in Mexico by bacterial isolation, PCR and sequencing. These findings suggest that C. abortus played a substantial role in goats with a history of abortion in Mexico.

The association between type conformation systems and milk (PL), fat (PG) and protein (PP) production was evaluated through the correlation between conformation traits (CC) and genetic value predictions for milk (HTPL), fat (HTPGK) and protein (HTPPK) of Holstein cattle, to determine the extent to which CC influence animal production. The study included 31,711 CC, 87,871 PL, 65,593 PG and 43,717 PP records. The CC were grouped into four general systems: structure and capacity (SEC), legs and hooves (SP), udder (SU) and haunch (SA). The effect of end point (FP) classes on PL, PG and PP levels was also evaluated through analysis of variance. HTPL had a correlation of 0.28 with SU, 0.17 with SA, 0.08 with SP and -0.05 with SEC (P

Internal or inter-State migration processes, the conceptualization of which involves the displacement of persons within the same national State, have been studied as factors in various problems of economic growth since the Second World War, This social phenomenon has been accentuated in coastal areas and has contributed to the growth of tourist resorts as part of tourism policy since the 1970s in Mexico. This in turn has generated a significant demand for employment in the service sector, to which the labor force of other states of the Mexican Republic and the surrounding indigenous communities has responded, generating socio-cultural implications mainly of identity and acculturation. Consequently, the internal migrant is personified through his or her history of mobility, his or her work routines under stationary conditions with low pay in strenuous working days. In this context, the present proposal consists of a quantitative-descriptive method, as part of a research project of the University of Quintana Roo, in Playa del Carmen and gives way to the reflection on the way in which the tourist growth generates a migratory drag that has caused cultural transformations of uses and customs of the destinations of origin and, on the other hand, it has precarious working conditions represented by a neoliberal development model of the service industry in the tourist destinations of the Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico.
