Resumen
The Island of Bali, by Miguel Covarrubias, has remained one of the definitive treatments of the subject since its original publication in 1937. The book’s facility with words is matched by elegance of drawing. The book was also composed in a colonial context, written by a Mexican who was part of a Euro-American group of cosmopolitan intellectuals and artists. Miguel Covarrubias has been attacked as an orientalist, and praised as a trans-Pacific visionary. His encounter with Bali was especially an encounter with Balinese art, especially the new form of modernism emerging in the 1930s. Covarrubias’s interests in magic coincided with Balinese preoccupations with spiritual forces, something he pursued with his study of Balinese texts. For Covarrubias, art was a vehicle for achieving liberation. Despite heavy outside editorial intervention, Island of Bali advances a global view of connec-tions between societies through art.

Several studies have attempted to establish the variables involved in the etiology and maintenance of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Harm avoidance and incompleteness have been recently proposed as two core motivational dimensions of the obsessive-compulsive symptomatology. The aim of the present study was to analyze the role of harm avoidance and incompleteness in their relation to the obsessive-compulsive symptoms. Thus, a Path analysis was performed on a sample of 267 individuals from the general population (74.5% women). Results showed that the association between harm avoidance and ordering and checking symptoms was largely mediated by the incompleteness, supporting a greater specificity of the latter in the OCD phenomenology. Future studies should confirm this finding in clinical samples.

Resumen
In this article, I provide unpublished documentary data about the main altarpiece constructed as from 1746 in the Sacro Monte Abbey of Granada (Spain), the Counter-Reformist institution funded in 1610. The main findings attribute the authorship to Domingo Cabrera, an unknown sculptor. Other findings worthy of mention are the evolution of the construction and placement of the altarpiece as well as its historical contextualization. The latter is part of a set of texts known as defensorios whose principal function was to restore prestige to Sacro Monte, and which were called into question when their libros plúmbeos were considered heretics. Additionally, the defensorios were closely linked to new discoveries that took place in Alcazaba Qadima in Albaicin quarter in the middle of the eighteenth century and that were supported by Luis Francisco de Viana y Bustos, one of the main altarpieces promoters.

Resumen
In the symbolic landscape created by the Zapotecs in the Postclassic period in the southern part of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Ba’cuana was a sanctuary of great importance, where their rock paintings were significant. In this paper I study expressions that were painted after the arrival of the Spaniards. Combining studies of style, iconography and the analysis of pigments, a division in two main stages during the Colonial period is established, from diverse characteristics that account for the site´s evolution during three centuries. Ba’cuana remained a highly venerated sanctuary, center of a new sacred landscape, in which the agency of the Zapotec population was revealed. They developed their own visual discourses. These were a reflection of the creation of a new culture, result of the re appropriation of Christian artistic and religious elements, from orthodoxy and demoniac practice.

Resumen
Space is not just a place where things and acts are deposited but an autonomous socially constructed entity. Art creates spaces where it develops with the determination to foment the emergence of relationships in them. This paper is based on the idea of a reconsidered artistic space and its importance in the development of aesthetic and social relationships to see how the museum can apply this idea in the renovation of its exhibition space. Keeping in mind the theoretical perspectives on the social construction of space and relating the spatial construction of certain participatory artistic experiences of the early twentieth century with some realizations presented in the last edition of documenta, the spatial articulations of these experiences with their form of exposition is researched. How to move from a museum representational space that is built on a historicist, linear, nationalist and exclusive way, to a participatory exhibition space of a shared authorship that represents a changing society, is the central issue.

Resumen
The complex material and stylistic composition of Codex Yanhuitlan, a sixteenth-century pictographic manuscript from the Mixteca Alta, is considered against the backdrop of the equally complex and volatile historical situation that followed the establishment of colonial order in the region. It is argued that the codex is an unfinished document that was from the onset drafted in an unusual manner and deeply reworked before being completely disassembled in the eighteenth century.
