Validação de instrumento sobre o saber e o fazer de enfermeiros nos cuidados paliativos à pessoa com ferida tumoral maligna cutâneaValidación de instrumento sobre el saber y el quehacer de enfermeros en los cuidados paliativos hacia la persona con herida tumoral maligna cutáneaObjective: to present the construction and validation process of an instrument to evaluate the knowledge and practice of nurses in palliative care toward the person with cutaneous malignant tumor wound.Materials and Methods: methodological, quantitative study with applying the Delphi technique, conducted in two stages. The first was carried out with 30 judges and the second with 17. The analysis used the Lambda 2 Guttmann coefficient, Kappa index, and Content Validity Index (CVI).Results: of the 112 items of the original instrument, 28 were excluded, given that the percentiles of Lambda 2 Guttmann, Kappa, and CVI had indicators lower than acceptable; thus, the second version of the instrument resulted with 84 items, which presented 100 % acceptance in the Delphi 2 phase. Conclusions: from the evaluation by the judges, a version of the instrument was defined with adequate content validity and concordance indices, which could contribute to the evaluation of knowledge and practice of nurses in palliative care toward the person with cutaneous malignant tumor wound. To reference this article / Para citar este artículo / Para citar este artigoAgra G, Formiga NS, Oliveira SHS, Sousa ATO, Soares MJGO, Lopes MM. Valoración de la técnica de amamantamiento en bebés con síndrome de DownAvaliação da técnica de amamentação em bebês com síndrome de DownObjective: To evaluate the technique and duration of breastfeeding in healthy children and children with Down Syndrome (DS) using the breastfeeding observation form. Materials and methods: An observational study of a prospective cohort was carried out at the Clinical Hospital of Granada during 2015. The Study Group consisted of 40 children with DS and the control group was formed by each new-born with DS and a healthy new-born with the same characteristics of weight and gestational age was selected. The new-borns evaluated shared housing with the mother where the technique was valued during the first 5 days postpartum by a health professional. A bivariable analysis was performed to compare the groups using Student’s “T” test for numerical variables and chi-square for categorical variables. Results: Lactogenesis onset was earlier in the DS group (92.5 % in the first 24 hours vs 20 %; p <0.001). It was observed that 60 % of the healthy children were breastfed for more than three months while in the group of babies with DS this time period was 47.5 %. Conclusions: The results of this study reveal that the breastfeeding technique presented at the beginning more difficulties in mothers of children with DS and it has been shown that technical errors influence the onset and duration of breastfeeding in mothers of these children. To identify the risk behaviors of the elderly at home, described by community health workers, and related factors.Materials and methods: Qualitative research, in the dialectical perspective, carried out through a focus group with community health workers from a family health strategy unit in a municipality of the State of São Paulo, Brazil. Thematic content analysis was used for the study. Results: The revealed risk behaviors are related to extrinsic factors (architecture, furniture, and equipment), socioeconomic factors (low income, level of education, deficit of social and a family support), and psychological factors (feeling of vulnerability, dependence and not self-acknowledging in a dangerous condition). Conclusions: Falls are the result of a complex interaction between the factors and, the behaviors studied so that adequate identification of these can subsidize individual and collective intervention actions, as well as care management and planning processes aimed at the health of the elderly person. To reference this article / Para citar este artículo / Para citar este artigoFonseca RFMR, Matumoto S, Xavier JJS, Faller WF. Prevalencia y posibles factores asociados al consumo tabáquico en adolescentes escolarizadosPrevalência e possíveis fatores associados ao consumo de tabaco em adolescentes escolarizadosObjective: This study estimates the prevalence in tobacco consumption and the associated factors in adolescents at official educational institutions in the municipality of Palmira. Methods: This was a crosss-sectional analysis with an analytical component, including 205 high school students from six official schools. The analysis was performed through the SPSS statistics software version 24. Qualitative variables were expressed as ratios with their corrsponding 95 % confidence intervals (CI). Quantitative variables were expressed as central tendency and dispersion measures, depending on the distribution of the variable. Finally, an odds ratio was calculated for the associated factors with a 95 % CI and the binary logistic regression model statistical model was used to adjust the variables. Results: The tobacco consumption’s overall prevalence was 38.5%, CI 95 % (31.6–45.4 %); e-cigarette, 20 %, 95 % CI (14.2–25.7 %); cigarette, 18.5 %, 95 % CI (12.9–24.1 %) and hookah, 17.9 %, 95 % CI (12.1–23 %), with a greater incidence in women than men. The resulting associated factors were age (OR 3.17, CI 95 % [1.48–6.79]), a partner who smokes (OR 2.51, 95 % CI (1.36–4.63 %), friends who smoke (OR 7.0, 95 % CI [3.4–14.5]), and the possibility of buying individual cigarettes instead of a pack (OR 2.60, 95 % CI (1.26–5.3).Conclusions: Smoking habit’s overall prevalence is higher than the one reported in adolescents. Female subjects reported greater and more frequent consumption of e-cigarettes. The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between wound severity, discomfort, and psychological problems in patients with a diabetic foot ulcer in Indonesia. Methods: A cross-sectional study is conducted in three general hospitals and one clinic in Indonesia. The Bates-Jensen wound assessment tool (BWAT), the discomfort evaluation of wound instrument (DEWI), and the depression, anxiety, and stress scale (DASS) are used to measure the variables of interest. Path analysis is performed to evaluate the association between wound severity, discomfort, and psychological problems. Results: Of 140 patients with diabetic foot ulcers who joined this study, the majority experienced immobilization (74.3 %), pain (69.3 %), and sleep disturbance (63.6 %). The means were as follows: discomfort (2.35 ± 0.33), depression (1.34 ± 0.41), stress (1.49 ± 0.48), anxiety (1.43 ± 0.40), and wound severity (31.35 ± 9.96). Discomfort partially mediated the relationship between wound severity and psychological problems, which indirect effect was 0.11.Conclusion: High prevalence of discomfort, both physical and psychological, was found in patients with a diabetic foot ulcer. Discomfort mediates the relationship between wound severity and psychological problems. Integrating comfort into wound care management may help to reduce the psychological burden. To identify the causes of breastfeeding abandonment and the success factors associated with relactation in mothers with children attended in a specialised health institution.Methodology: Descriptive transversal design through non-probabilistic convenience sampling, with 100 mothers and their children. A structured survey was used and central tendency measurements and frequencies were analysed. The study was approved by the Ethics committee of the School of Health Sciences at the University Pontificia Bolivariana. Results: The average age was 26.8 years; 73 % had a low socioeconomic level; 59 % were cohabitating; 46 % were housewives; 32 % had a high school degree; 57 % were first-time mothers; 74 % had a high obstetric risk; and 59 % had children by caesarean section. Causes of breastfeeding abandonment were newborn hospitalization (79 %) and low birth weight (52 %). Health professionals suggested substitutes for hypogalactia in 18 % of the mothers. Incorrect maternal posture: 66.1 and 61 % with no previous experience. Relactation success factors were: chronological age under one month (48 %); effective newborn breast sucking (89 %); good newborn breast grasping (71 %). During the non-breastfeeding period, 72 % received mixed milk, 82 % did not breastfeed between 8 and 30 days, 98 % of the mothers were willing to relactate, 91 % considered the support of their families and health professionals as good. Conclusion: Children hospitalization was the main cause of breastfeeding abandonment and the main success factors for relactation were effective breast sucking, mothers’ readiness and support.Para citar este artículo / To reference this article / Para citar este artigoGiraldo DI, López FE, Quirós AM, Gómez AA, Sierra SM, Agudelo D. Influência da sexualidade na saúde dos idosos em processo demencial: revisão integrativaInfluencia de la sexualidad en la salud del anciano con demencia: revisión integradoraObjective: this work sought to inquire on the influence of sexuality on the health of the elderly during dementia.Materials and Methods: this was an integrative review. A careful search was conducted in nine databases; however, only five databases provided articles fulfilling the scope of the study: Medline, Lilacs, BDENF, Scopus, and Web of Science (WoS). The health science descriptors (DeCS) were adopted: “sexualidad”, “demencia” and “anciano”, and the descriptors cataloged in the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH): “sexuality”, “dementia” and “aged”. After applying the inclusion criteria, eight articles were selected to comprise the study sample. Results: the practice of sexuality influences upon the health of the elderly with dementia with some beneficial effects, given that it provides, especially, better perception of quality of life and wellbeing. Nevertheless, it cannot be generalized due to methodological insufficiency evidenced in the studies found to construct this review. Conclusions: due to the limitation of studies addressing the theme and the methodological insufficiency of those included in this review, it is necessary to conduct research that shows in depth the influence of sexuality on this population, given that it can be constituted as another approach for the promotion and protection of health in the elderly with dementia.Para citar este artículo / To reference this article / Para citar este artigoSouza Júnior EV, Silva CS, Lapa PS, Trindade LES, Silva Filho BF, Sawada NO.
