Costos directos e indirectos derivados del cuidado familiar del paciente con enfermedad crónica no transmisibleCustos diretos e indiretos derivados do cuidado familiar do paciente com doença crônica não transmissívelObjective: To determine direct and indirect non-medical costs derived from caring for patients with chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in three health institutions located in the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga, Colombia. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with 77 patients with NCDs and their family caregivers, who were selected through systematic sampling between 2018 and 2019.Results: Most people with NCDs are women (55 %) at an average age of 70. Four out of five caregivers are women, at an average age of 40, who deliver care for an average of 14 hours a day. The total monthly cost for patient care was on average 324,207 COP. The most significant costs are related to health, food, housing, transport, and communication. 60.5 % of NCDs patients were responsible for household finances before becoming ill. About half of them stopped working and the other half experienced a reduction of 33 % in their monthly income after becoming ill. Conclusion: Due to the need for complementary and comprehensive treatment, care, and interventions, costs related to care of NCDs patients increase despite the income of NCDs patients and their caregivers do not. To identify, in the national and international scientific literature, the evidence produced by Nursing that provides subsidies to prevent teenage pregnancy.Material and method: An integrative literature review study, based on papers available in the PubMed, BVS, Scopus and Web of Science metabases, and in the Lilacs and BDEnf databases, in Portuguese, English and Spanish languages, published from January 2013 to March 2020.Results: According to the inclusion criteria, 13 articles were selected. The findings are presented in the categories “lower socio-economic conditions”, “knowledge, attitudes and cultural aspects” and “sexual education and specialized services”.Conclusions: Teenage pregnancy is strongly associated with poverty and other socio-economic issues. Gender relations, communication about sex education in the family and other cultural aspects were found in the discussions, which indicates their impact on this phenomenon. Interventions involving sex education are shown as an alternative to cope. The presence of the nurse at the places that assist or concentrate adolescents can be a great element to reduce pregnancy rates in this phase.Para citar este artículo / To reference this article / Para citar este artigoFernandes DER, Medeiros M, Santos WS, dos Santos MG. Efecto de un programa de atención de enfermería en estomaterapia en la adaptación de la persona a la ostomía de eliminaciónEfeito de um programa de enfermagem em estomaterapia na adaptação da pessoa ao estoma de eliminaçãoObjective: To evaluate the effect of a stoma nursing care program on the personal adjustment to an ostomy.Materials and methods: A quasi-experimental study with a control group. The sample of 105 patients with stoma was divided into two groups (intervention group and control group), with assessments in the first and sixth month after hospital discharge. Information was collected using the Elimination Ostomy Adjustment Scale. Student’s t-tests analysis were performed. Results: One month after hospital discharge, the adjustment to the stoma was satisfactory and similar (p > 0.05) in both groups, and in the sixth month, statistically more favorable in the intervention group (p < 0.001); a statistically significant difference between the two assessments (p < 0.001) is found in the intervention group only. Conclusions: The intervention program has a positive influence on the adjustment to the stoma, and its contribution is significant six months after hospital discharge. Systematic interventions of an ostomy care specialized nurse have shown positive effects on ostomy adjustment, which is recommended since the preoperative period. To evaluate the quality of care transition for patients with chronic diseases and to verify its association with hospital readmission within 30 days after discharge. Method: Cross-sectional epidemiological study of 210 patients with chronic diseases discharged from a hospital in southern Brazil. The Care Transition Measure-15 (CTM-15) instrument was used, through a telephone contact and, in order to identify readmissions within 30 days, the hospital management system was consulted. Student’s t-tests analysis of variance and nonparametric Pearson or Spearman correlation tests were performed. Results: CTM-15 score was 74.7 (± 17.1). No significant association was found between the quality of care transition and hospital readmission. 12.3 % of the patients were readmitted, and 46.2 % of these readmissions were to the emergency service. Conclusions: The quality of the care transition for chronic patients from inpatient units to home, showed a satisfactory score. However, there was no association between the quality of care transition and hospital readmission within 30 days after discharge. To reference this articleWeber LAF, Lima MADS, Acosta AM. This work sought to identify and describe the theoretical foundations, components, duration, delivery mode, and results of the nursing interventions aimed at persons with venous ulcers as available in the literature.Materials and method: Integrative review between 2000 and 2018 in the Pubmed, Ovidnursing, and EBSCOhost electronic databases. Results: This review includes 16 articles. Most of the interventions were of educational nature; three were developed in the community (through the Leg Club model) and the other ones were delivered by a nursing professional, face to face. The minimum time of duration for these was eight weeks, with telephone follow up. The most-common result variables were venous ulcer healing and reduction of the wound area. Conclusions: Diversity existed in relation with the components of the interventions and the results expected. Report of the interventions must be reinforced, along with the use of nursing theories that support their design.Para citar este artículo / To reference this article / Para citar este artigoCifuentes JE, Guerrero S. Sentidos y significados del tratamiento conservador en personas con insuficiencia renal crónicaSentidos e significados do tratamento conservador nas pessoas com doença renal crônicaObjective: To unveil the senses and meanings of conservative treatment in people with chronic kidney disease (CKD).Materials and Methods: A descriptive and exploratory study with a qualitative approach. It was developed in 2017, with a sample of individuals with CKD undergoing conservative treatment. A semi-structured interview was used and the data were analyzed using simple descriptive statistics and content analysis. Results: 25 individuals participated in the study, of which 56 % were female; 52 % belonged to the 60-79-year-old age group; 48 % were white-skinned; 48 % did not complete elementary school; and only 12 % worked. Content analysis revealed two categories: food restriction: anguishes and impacts that affect the daily lives of patients with CKD and the social imaginary and fear related to renal replacement therapy. Conclusions: The results revealed that diet and fear about dialysis therapy produce uncertainty, anxiety, and insecurity, in addition to a wide and impacting change in people’s lives. To reference this article / Para citar este artigo / Para citar este artículoXavier BLS, Hermógenes JFA, Ribeiro YC, Sá ACS, Ávila FMVP, Flores PVP. To determine the impact of a course aimed at the care of persons with drug dependence on the beliefs and intentions of drug use among bachelor nursing students.Materials and methods: A quasi-experimental study conducted with a non-equivalent comparison group composed of 210 Mexican students of both sexes. Two Likert-type instruments were used to measure the beliefs and intentions of drug use, before and after a semester-long course. Results: At the end of the study, a significant interaction was found (F = 3.56, p = 0.050, η2p = 0.025), which suggests a greater decrease in beliefs in favor of drug use among students who took the course on drug addiction. Regarding drug use intentions, a general decrease was observed in the entire sample (F = 10.13, p = 0.002, η2p = 0.059).Conclusions: Courses on the care of drug addiction can have beneficial effects on nursing students by modifying beliefs and intentions to carry out unhealthy behaviors such as the use of substances. These results demand to verify if the effects remain beyond the completion of university education. This study aims to validate the Portuguese version of the Practice Environment Scale of the Nursing Work Index (PES-NWI) and assess construct validity through exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses.Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study validates the psychometric properties of the PES-NWI in Portugal. Exploratory factorial analysis is used to analyze the psychometric properties of the PES-NWI in a sample of 5,075 Portuguese nurses; the data sample covers all geographic regions in the country. Confirmatory factor analysis is performed to confirm the model’s data adequacy. Results: Factorial analysis explained 54.6 % of the variance and a five-dimension structure. The five factors identified were Nurse Participation in Hospital Affairs, Nurse Manager Ability, Leadership and Support of Nurses, Nursing Foundations for Quality of Care, Staffing and Resource Adequacy, and Nurse-Physician Relations. The confirmatory analysis showed that the five-factor model fit well with the data in the Portuguese context. Conclusion: In a Portuguese health context, the PES-NWI is a valid scale to access the nursing environment and improve working conditions.Para citar este artículo / To reference this article / Para citar este artigoAlmeida S, Nascimento A, Lucas PB, Jesus E, Araújo B. Influencia del ambiente en el desarrollo de la resiliencia en adolescentes de Medellín, ColombiaInfluência do ambiente no desenvolvimento da resiliência em adolescentes de Medellín, ColômbiaObjective: To know the influence of the environment (family functionality, social support and neighbourhood and school environment) on the development of adolescent resilience. Methods: Descriptive, correlational design. A total of 184 adolescents from six schools in the Aranjuez district of Medellín participated. Probabilistic, two-stage sampling. Five scales were used to collect data: 1) The child and youth resilience measurement scale; 2) The neighbourhood environment questionnaire; 3) The family cohesion and adaptability assessment scale; 4) The multidimensional scale of perceived social support; and 5) The school environment questionnaire. Data were analysed though SPSS 24v software. Results: a relationship was found between resilience and neighbourhood environment (rs = .324, p = .000), family functionality (rs = .380, p = .000), social support (rs = .456, p  = .000) and school environment (rs = .353, p = .000). In addition, resilience was explained in 35.8 % by the neighbourhood environment (β = .20; p = .012), family functionality (β = .13; p = .090), social support (β = .30; p = .000) and school environment (β = .15; p = .064).Conclusion: Adolescent resilient behaviour is influenced by social support, family functioning, and school and neighbourhood environment, all external factors fostering self-regulation, as mentioned by Roy’s Nursing model.Para citar este artículo / To reference this article / Para citar este artigoReyes-Sánchez C, Castaño-Pérez GA, Ceballos-Alatorre B, Martínez-Aguilera P, Yañez-Castillo BG.
