Lecciones que deja la pandemia por Covid-19Lições que a pandemia da COVID-19 deixaThe narrow view and meager resources of health systems in Latin America and the Caribbean have not allowed dealing with the new SARS-CoV-2 pandemic adequately, with few honorable exceptions. The emphasis on curative systems, in terms of both infrastructure and human and financial resources, to the detriment of primary health care (PHC) is a blatant example of this historical shortsightedness. Besides the absence of sufficient, governance-skilled nurses, this circumstance reduces the possibility of controlling a pandemic that, while unknown, already had the necessary background for each country to tackle it using disease prevention and health promotion in vulnerable populations. Therefore, the depicted scenario has been conducive to the spread of the pandemic and the consequent impact on the health, social, economic, and political systems of Latin American countries.Para citar este editorial / To reference this editorial / Para citar este editorialSanhueza-Alvarado O. Resumen
Complicaciones cardíacas en pacientes con covid-19: revisión integrativa de la literaturaComplicações cardíacas em pacientes com covid-19: revisão integrativa da literaturaObjective: To verify, based on the literature, what the main cardiac complications are in patients with COVID-19, during treatment in a hospital unit.Materials and methods: An integrative review, carried out by searching for studies in eight national and international databases. The final sample consisted of 16 studies published between January and May 2020, which were subjected to structural evaluation by the following instruments: Case Report Guidelines, for case reports; and Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology, for observational studies. Results: The main cardiac complications were predominantly obstructive events, herein understood as acute myocardial infarction, followed by severe arrhythmic conditions and heart failure, all due to the hyperinflammation condition resulting from viral infection. Conclusions: The knowledge about cardiac complications during COVID-19 treatment has become important, since it can collaborate for the adoption of more effective treatment protocols and guide the assistance offered by health professionals, in order to identify such complications and intervene early. To reference this article / Para citar este artigo / Para citar este artículoMaier SRO, Rodrigues JPF, Sudré MRS, Dessotte CAM.
To understand the repercussions of Coronavirus Disease 19 (COVID-19) from the perspective of schoolchildren.Materials and method: A qualitative study, of the participant action type, based on Paulo Freire’s theoretical and methodological precepts. The participants were 10 children living in the coastal area of Santa Catarina, Brazil, from a virtual culture circle held in July 2020. An analogy was made with the colored pencil to go through the stages of the research itinerary. Results: Two generative themes emerged for discussion: the good things of the COVID-19 pandemic and the “cannots” of the pandemic. In the first theme, they highlighted more time with the family and strengthening family ties, proximity to pets, and self-care. In the second, they pointed out the impossibility of playing with friends, celebrating birthdays and hugging people. Conclusions: The children identified positive and negative points experienced during the pandemic and unveiled the challenges of transforming moments of social isolation into spaces of family proximity, although restricted to their homes. To reference this article / Para citar este artigo / Para citar este artículoSouza JB, Potrich T, Brum CN, Heidemann ITSB, Zuge SS, Lago AL. Resumen
Desafíos para la salud colectiva en el cuidado con personas, familias y comunidades, vulnerables socialmente, frente a la pandemiaDesafios para a saúde coletiva no cuidado de pessoas, famílias e comunidades vulneráveis socialmente durante a pandemiaIn times of a pandemic, this reflection conceives two enormous challenges for nursing in collective health. Politically, the challenge is to vindicate and recognize care as a creative and transformative action taken by individuals, families, and communities in territories to sustain life and mitigate human suffering through health promotion, disease prevention, and care. Ethically, the task is to clearly understand safe, supportive, and sustainable actions to strengthen equity and ethos of caring as a project-oriented to welfare, compassion, and the defense of the right to health. To reference this editorial / Para citar este editorial / Para citar este editorialGaviria-Noreña DL.
Background: the Buschke-Löwenstein tumor is a giant acuminate condyloma larger than 10 cm, more frequent in men, so the treatment of choice must always be surgical. Objective: to describe a case of giant acuminate condylomata. Case report: 54-year-old white male patient, who came with papillomatosis formations with soft and moist consistency of cauliflower, in both inguinal regions; on the right side of 13 centimeters in diameter and 19 centimeters on the left and at the root of the penis and perianal region of 2 centimeters, associated with pain of slight intensity in the lower limbs and occasional fetidity. Preoperative studies including non-reactive serology and HIV were performed. He underwent surgery, performing excision and closure with abdominal skin flap. He evolved clinically stable, although he presented an infection of the surgical wound where Escherichia Coli, gentamicin sensitive, was reported; he complied with treatment and left without further complications. Conclusions: Buschke-Löwenstein tumor is currently considered as a form of verrucous carcinoma, it does not present cellular atypia, described as benign, but one third of the cases can be maligne. Despite frequent recurrences, some authors consider it as a malignant tumor. Despite the existence of several treatments, the surgical treatment is the one with the best results. DeCS: BUSCHKE-LOWENSTEIN TUMOR; CONDYLOMATA ACUMINAT/surgery; CARCINOMA, VERRUCOUS/surgery; CASE REPORTS; MEN.
