In 1938, the English writer Daphne du Maurier (1907-1989) finished writing Rebecca. In 1940, the film adaptation, directed by Alfred Hitchcock, was released. On the one hand, Hitchcock’s scant regard for the novel, and, on the other, the foundations of the puritan Hays Code (1930), resulted in the original script being amended. Concurrently, in 1938, the Spanish Press Law placed all literary production at the service of the Franco regime. However, the Francoist censorship gave carte blanche to Rebeca (both to novel and film adaptation). In this paper we study the censoring behaviours of both codes, which had similar foundations and ideology, to conclude that it was precisely what the Hays Code tried to conceal what motivated the appraisal of the book in Spain.

It is our contention to analyse the women characters in the novels written by the GhanaianAyesha Harrunah Attah, Harmattan Rain, Saturday’s Shadows and The Hundred Wells ofSalaga framing our study within African feminism theories as we look for the connectionsbetween the history of Ghana and the experiences lived by the main characters. We willdevelop the different manifestations of feminism in Africa, starting from a common concernto African feminisms, to seek female agency and autonomy. African Feminisms emerge asactivist movements and share the necessity of a positive change in society where womenare full citizens. We will trace African Feminism from Filomina Steady, Buchi Emecheta´sactivism, Molara Ogundipe Leslie’s Stiwanism, Obioma Nnameka’s Nego-Feminism toEcofeminism.

This paper makes a review of the main mechanisms used by Pedro Lemebel in his first books of chronicles, to make visible a marginal and subversive identity that is contesting the ownership of the national imagination in Chilean literature. The study establishes recurring mechanisms by which the chronicler shows a political sense to his writing to make visible a national history that has been made invisible by the official discourse.

In this text a theoretical exploration of the Marxist, materialist and decolonial and feminists’ contributions is carried out to understand the sexual division of labor category. Relevant concepts that permit a complex analysis such as socio-sexual relationship, domestic production mode and consubstantiality of oppressions are examined, understanding how gender relations have a material and historical base at the same time as are structuring the social reality and making the experience of female racialized subjects be more intricate. Finally, I propose to examine the sexual division of labor as an analysis category in the context of the neoliberal globalization and as a political category to make visible the material and symbolic conditions of women from the global south.

This paper analyzes the philosophical paradigms of modernity and postmodernity with the aim to propose them as a conceptual basis to explain the intrafeminist discussion about equality and difference. The appearance, in the mid-to-end xx century, of the feminist heterogeneity supposed a critical response to the notion of universality meddled with androcentric bias. Finally, it is proposed that the feminism of Judith Butler may be interpreted as the bearer of a philosophy in-between modern and postmodern thinking, as a transmodern proposal.
