This work aims, from the information collected in the documentation of various international structures, to show the importance of sport in the youth group as a fundamental human right in the international scene. Likewise, the fundamental role that Olympic structures have had in the development of sport for this group is collected, emphasizing the importance of values such as friendship, international cultural relations, respect and tolerance beyond sport results, all of this with the aim of educating the world's youth and achieving universal peace. The present work thus presents a review of the various national and international sports editions and their evolution, showing a positive increase in all cases. Finally, one of the sports events which was created and developed with the same Olympic purpose mentioned, The International Forum of Olympic Youth in Russia, is developed in detail with the aim of protecting the athletes from the current negative phenomena in sport, particularly from doping.

Learning gain can be defined as the difference between students’ language competences demonstrated at two different points in time. In this article, we reported on a small-scale study aimed at measuring learning gains and piloting the methods chosen. Fourteen students of English as a foreign language participated in the study. We employed a student self-report survey, an oral performance assessment task and a standardised test for data gathering, and we applied them at three different moments during the eight-month study. Our data analysis includes the comparison of percentages rendered by test scores, the estimation of means for oral task scores and grouping and coding for qualitative data in the survey. Results show the gradual pattern of language improvement and the suitability of methods. These results can help stakeholders or policymakers in selecting relevant evidence to improve accountability in decision-making. We have provided conclusions and recommendations below for a larger scale study.

This study is the result of a research carried out in a Master’s Program. It deals with the relationship between the development of the written skill of the English language and the implementation of the LMS Schoology platform— as a tool for this purpose— in a group of elementary school students in a private institution in Tunja, Colombia. Data was collected by using students’ artifacts, a questionnaire, and a focus group, which information was analyzed carefully. At the end, it is evident the way in which the platform Schoology contributed positively to the writing skill development, throughout the integration of factors like the motivation, the proposal of attractive activities and the development of tasks inside the classroom as well as outside it. Likewise, the students showed acceptance of the system and their willingness to learn improved.

Ileana Rodríguez es Humanities Distinguished Professor Emerita de The Ohio State University y Associated Researcher del Instituto de Historia de Nicaragua y Centroamérica (IHNCA). Ha dedicado su investigación a las intersecciones entre política y género masculino/femenino, y a los cruces interdisciplinarios. Besieging Perverse Masculinities (2016). En su último libro explora la relación entre imagen y afecto en el cine centroamericano de mujeres. Postula que lo estético produce solidaridad y que en la lectura del cuerpo mismo de los participantes —y en el estudio de la voz que se quiebra al tornarse gemido y alterar la forma estándar de la sintaxis—, se logra reinstalar la fuerza de los sobrevivientes en los eventos históricos que recuerdan. En este texto, dedicado al último documental de Patricio Guzman “La cordillera de los sueños” (2019), Rodríguez explora el mismo gesto y propone que la belleza física del mundo natural es fuente de esperanza para el que las mira y al mismo tiempo es un testimonio más del hondo afecto de Guzman por su país, Chile, al que le ha dedicado gran parte de su producción. En este sentido, vuelve a poner en escena momentos claves de la historia de Chile y la fuerza de la participación de la ciudadanía en hacer su propia historia, aunque aquello pese a los que la quieran olvidar.
