The increasing insertion of businessmen in the highest governmental spheres of Latin American countries has aroused a renewed interest in analyzing and understanding the modalities of building political leaderships, their tools and strategies. This article proposes a comparative analysis of the political image building process of two exponents of the private-business sphere, the former Peruvian president Pedro Pablo Kuczynski (2016-2018) and the current Chilean president, Sebastián Piñera (2010-2014 / 2018-). It is intended to systematize this process, highlighting the combination of tools and tactics of communication, image and political marketing used to position them in the public sphere as representatives of a “new policy”.

This work synthesizes one of the achievements in the doctoral thesis prepared by the author, in which the artisanal organization “Los Macaneros” belonging to the Gualaceo canton of the province of Azuay, Republic of Ecuador, is investigated to explore the process of incidence on public policies of the intangible cultural heritage of the Ecuadorian nation (Samaniego, 2017). For this, the study of the communication of the organization and its participatory practices is carried out from the moment the activity was considered at risk (1985), going through a period that was legitimized as a good protected by the State (2015), until the year 2017, date in which the communication strategy was applied as an intelligibility and interpellation device.

Uribismo’s rise to power to the most important governmental spheres in 2002 marked not only an interruption to the Colombian traditional bipartisanship, but also led to new forms of political speech and opinion, employed by elected candidates from 2002 on. This work intends to analyze and compare both the campaign speeches and political opinion used by Alvaro Uribe Velez in 2002, by Juan Manuel Santos in 2010 and by the current president Iván Duque in 2018. This comparison will allow to explain how Colombia has witnessed the appropriation and legitimization of a right-wing speech by a part of the citizenship.

In the Uruguayan national elections of 2019, the successful emergence of several politicians who are categorized as outsiders to come from outside the political system was confirmed. This rise and its determining role in the decision of the future president of the Republic is a warning for parties and politicians. The global and regional political context, the ideas that circulate and the current moment of the communication and the use of digital tools have been factors that contributed to the emergency and the role that this type of politicians played in the recent Uruguayan elections.

This publication exposes the concerns of professionals and academics of Design, regarding the economic, management and materialization issues of designed products, nowadays. One of the issues is the contribution of 3D printing and its morphological possibilities, which has changed industry and construction. These new production options have an impact on the economy, while raising new questions and reflections. On the other hand, Design also contributes to organizations’ management, with its own ways of thought in the creation and development of any kind of entrepreneurship. Designers, as professionals, have to handle those interdisciplinary skills fluently. Therefore, it must be capacitated with the inclusion of those new market requirements. This work explores the relationship between Design and materiality or economy, in connection with the environment and sustainability, from different perspectives.

This work aims to investigate the design and implementation of musical projects of two social organizations that work with young people from popular sectors in a neighborhood located outside the founding center of the city of La Plata (Buenos Aires). In the first place, the institutional trajectories, the specific dynamics, the agents involved and the objectives proposed by the organizations will be briefly described. Secondly, performance and imaginary logics will be presented that circulate by teachers around the two musical projects that take place. Third, strategies for access to resources will be characterized and some emerging tensions will be exposed. From an ethnographic perspective, the article was prepared based on: informal conversations, observations, social networks, and institutional reports.

For the approach to the crossing of codes from the disciplines of the game and the performance towards the Design of Interaction, it is relevant to position the primary observation from the body7 as a unit to be reconsider for the empathic exercise of designing for people. From the socio-business context, the need arose to tighten the limits of the field of action of interaction design to configure a network of professional actors that implements the possibility of another way to proceed, focused on the community of people rather than the company. This time from the action of the body as a device, together with game methodologies and performance as allies, to enrich the current organizational imaginary. That in turn can enrich the quality of content and how we relate to each other, in a positive way to generate critical mass. The opportunity of the designer to stimulate a community of people (professionals and users), which crosses established codes to stimulate the language of the systemic status quo within which we operate. This essay tries to make comparatively visible the contribution that the confluence of cultural discourses can generate from the disciplines of the Performance (Body) and the Game (Play / Game) to enrich the praxis of the Design of interaction (like analogous experience outside the screen), as a resistance of a social structure stiffened by the interests of the market. The question arises: How can the Interaction Designer contribute to the generation of critical mass? An approach may be the incorporation of tools and concepts from the fields of performance and critical play.

More than 80% of the professors at UDD Design School have as a main activity the professional practice of Design, Architecture and other disciplines. This pragmatic experience contributes to their teaching. Although this is declared as a strength, the diversity of professional profiles generates inconsistencies in the assessment of students, with disparate evaluation processes that do not necessarily reflect what is stated in the educational model. The project “Development of a working model for the generation of assessment instruments, project line of UDD Design curriculum” addressed this problem, working first on the definition of a unifying approach for the construction of assessment guidelines, and then in a process of empirical validation through successive stages of trial and error. This enabled achieving a replicable model to generate assessment instruments, effectively linking the curricular structure of the educational model with the teaching-learning process as well as strengthening the definition of achievement indicators. The main result of this pilot project was the optimization and validation of the assessment process in the courses that participated, contributing to the assessment instances for learning, effective feedback and the teaching-learning process.

Design, like many other disciplines, responds to the needs and demands of its time, reflects the society in which it appears and is constituted under the influence of the social context. Its function is to directly impact a given society and allow daily performance, improve our adaptation to the artificial environment and the quality of life. As a very recent discipline and from the perspective of the training of professionals in the area, it is conditioned by the innovations of the historical moment that the profession lives and that influence the educational system and its teaching methods. Thus, this document, by way of reflection, is integrated as a result of an analysis process related to the role that technologies are playing in the training of designers. It is an approximation around the way in which the formal and informal scenarios have been modified and conditioned, which prepare those who seek to get involved in this area, whether or not they are professionals. It is just an outline of the responsibility involved in schools, universities and other spaces, whether real or virtual, in the definition and promotion of the knowledge and skills that a designer is supposed to have and the role that technology occupies in all this.

The aim of this paper is to share some reflections on the role of university education in connection with the socio-cultural context and the world of work. The 21st century presents a changing and convulsed scenario due to the new forms of capitalism, the changes in communications, the advances of technology in everyday life, the growing centrality of the urban territory, changes in consumption, and reconversions of all types in the world that have transformed the requirements and skills for jobs. The question about training is not naive. Education in Argentina has historically held a privileged position and, also has raised a series of debates and tensions. The current situation raises the question about the new challenges not only in terms of its contents but also in the ways in which its practices are implemented. This paper is focused on the following questions: what needs to be taught?, what can be thought about the transmission of knowledge?, who are the teachers and who are the students?, what are the proposals about the transformation of the classroom as a meeting space and what is the relationship with the future?
