Atmospheric particles (PM10 and PM2.5) are responsible for serious problems in human health. Therefore, this study determined the spatial variation of the concentration of particulate matter in the department of Junin, as in the Brazilian Amazon for the period 2021. The data obtained were analyzed using the low-cost PA-II Purpleair sensor, to measurements of particulate matter (PM1, PM2.5 and PM10) at a temporal resolution of 1 min. Likewise, maximum average values of concentrations of particulate material less than 1um, 2.5um and 10um were obtained, which can reach values of 40, 49, 55 μg/m3, respectively. It is concluded that the high values slightly exceed the environmental quality standards of Peru.

Objective: Link stress levels and diet in nursing students from a university in the Peruvian Andes. Methodology: The sampling will be random, the respondents will be randomly selected during the exam and regular education, and the sample will be composed of students of the first, third, fifth and seventh cycle of nursing. Results: Stress, in regular classes are mild (59%), moderate (14%) and normal (27%); and, on examination they are mild (53%), moderate (18%), normal (28%) and severe (1%); Regarding nutritional intake, in regular classes they are inadequate (9%), minimally adequate (49%) and regular (42%); and, in examination they are inadequate (11%), minimally adequate (49%) and regular (40%). 84% of students are women, none smoke, 95% do not drink alcohol. Conclusions: There is a direct relationship with stress levels and nutritional intake in nursing students.

This study was conducted to determine the most suitable plant population and genotype of rapeseed at the Eslamabad-e-Gharb Research Station in western Iran during 2018-2020. The experiment was a factorial based on a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. Factors included four plant populations (20, 40, 60, and 80 plants m-2), and seven genotypes included four hybrids (Natalie, Rohan, Neptune, and Marathon) and three open-pollinated cultivars (Nafis, Nima, and Nilufar). The results show that the effect of the year was significant for all traits due to the difference in weather parameters over the two years of the experiment. ANOVA results shows that the effects of the plant population significantly affected plant height, the number of branches, the number of grains per pod, grain yield, grain oil, and oil yield. The effect of the genotype was also significant for all traits except oil yield. The effect of the interaction between the plant population and genotype on plant height, the number of branches, the number of grains per pod, the number of pods per plant, and 1000-grain weight was also significant. In general, open-pollinated cultivars at 60 plants m-2 and hybrid cultivars at 40 plants m-2 had higher grain yields.

This essay, which accompanies the documentary “Suk’ B’anik,” is based on a case of theft settled by the so-called “ancestral Mayan law” in the municipality of Santa Cruz del Quiché, Guatemala, where more than 80% of the populace self-identify as Maya-K’iche’. The material seeks to deepen understanding of the collective reasoning and emotions that took place in the community trial of the case. In the face of the systemic weakness of the state’s justice system, in this region popular courts coordinated by local community mayors and supracommunal structures of ancestral authorities have become common to collectively try criminals or alleged criminals and to subject them to some form of corrective punishment. These judicial proceedings are developed within their own cultural understandings, which frequently offer highly ritualized spectacular choreographies for local as well as wider consumption. That visuality, often accompanied by community video practices, gives the participants’ performance an intrinsic status in the interior of these judicial processes while reaffirming the structures of local power. In these collective scenarios, the individual bodies of those accused are exhibited and prosecuted by the local authorities in front of audiences that demand sanctions to drum out the wrongdoing perceived as being damaging to the community. This, in turn, acts as a metaphor of moral cleansing and reequilibrium of a social body processing its own conflicts. Just as in rites of passage or in the theater, the popular trials in these Maya-K’iche’ communities often invoke other times and spaces, including supernatural ones, that have a bearing on the effectiveness of the reorganizational message that at the same time reinforces their own constructions of identity.

The perception of Covid-19 of the Otomi peoples was marked by their own historical experience with exogenous diseases, from colonial times to the present day. Given the arrival of the pandemic and the lack of precise information, ritual specialists in the Sierra de las Cruces and Montealto (state of Mexico) as well as in the Sierra Norte de Puebla were pushed to identify it, determine its origin and, from its ritual competition, give it body and face to combat it more efficiently.

The book Neogothic in Jalisco. Guía básica para la apreciación del entorno cultural edificado, by Martín Checa-Artasu, presents an interesting investigation of the historical development, typologies and geographic distribution of neo-Gothic architecture in the Mexican state of Jalisco, as a cultural phenomenon of adaptation and reinterpretation on a regional scale of a global architectural trend. To address the subject, the author adopts an interdisciplinary perspective in which time and the territorial diffusion of ideas about the design and symbolism of Gothic Revival are central when interpreting the current panorama of Jalisco's neo-Gothic architecture built between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.

The video and its accompanying text are based on a particular source -monuments and statues in public spaces– to account for three large and profound transformations in Mexico’s countryside. On the one hand, there is the change in the axis of economic activities, a process that has given rise to specializations that have helped neighbors remain in their communities or at least mitigated the exodus that has brought about depopulation in so many places. On the other hand –although it is very much tied to this change– there has been an emergence of local actors with interests, resources, and projects who have learned how to appropriate the new language of development. Finally, the monuments bring awareness of the current methods of intervention in the public space through emerging collectives in traditional agrarian societies.

In the 1940s the cultural, social, and political project of the journal Cuadernos Americanos was created. Iberoamerican intellectuals aligned with anti-imperialist ideas and intellectual commitment gathered with the publication’s director, Mexican economist Jesús Silva Herzog. Beginning with Cuaderno’s first issues, the viability of the Mexican Revolution was deliberated, where the mistakes and distortions of the process, as well as the need for more radical measures to be undertaken, were discussed. These reflections were catalized by the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959, as it presented various possible guidelines for the revival of its Mexican counterpart, or at least for it to come under more severe criticism from the anti-imperialist point of view.

In the last two decades the border region in the north of the country, Ciudad Juárez in particular, has faced a landscape dominated by various types of violence tied not only to the presence of drug trafficking and organized crime but also to that generated by the punitive intervention on the part of the Mexican state. In this sense, rethinking the explanatory frameworks in relation to theoretical-methodological approaches has constituted one of the key tasks in contexts where, in the words of Rossana Reguillo, fear takes possession of a present in crisis and as an expression of a collapsed landscape.

This book is a proposal for an analysis of ethnicity understood as the socio-cultural, historical and political condition in which large sectors of the Mexican population find themselves, whose ancestors were the original inhabitants upon the arrival of the Spaniards in the 21st century.
