From an academic approach the complexity of visual thinking is studied from the summary description of five types of content that have been associated with artistic production. They have been analyzed separately in the headings entitled: Narrate something interesting; Generate beauty; Develop creative capacity; Transmit a sensitive, emotional or sentimental content; Play with the language. In each of these sections a high degree of qualification can be achieved, but it is the confluence of several of them in the same image that attests to the complexity of visual thinking that can be exercised and developed through the practice of painting. To exemplify some aspects in this article, images made by students of fine arts have been incorporated. They usually come from unpublished reports that are made in painting subjects. It is, in summary, a reflection on the complexity associated with visual thinking that can be found in painted images, and the limits of rational analysis are also evident to cover it completely.

The expression of transcendence in art has been carried out by many artists in their art-work. There are creators that perform that transcendent expression in nature or looking for inspiration and numinous experience in it. So far, the combination of these three concepts: Art, Nature and Transcendence deserved the necessary academic attention at the time, in recent decades, it has been in the background. Through this article we aim to give visibil-ity to contemporary artists who link these three concepts in their work. Artists who have reached a deeper perception through the contemplation of nature, feeling reality as part of themselves. We examine this way of creating through the artwork of an Anglo-Saxon artist: Chris Drury. Going through his main creative stages will allow us to appreciate his contributions and develop a reflection on the intentionality and attitude of the artist in the act of creating and how this meaning is transmitted to the viewer, supporting our study in the existing tools of his creations, always considered from the point of view of the artist himself. We intend to contribute in this way to give visibility to active artists who, like him, harmonize these three concepts.

Live Coding, Live Cinema or different approaches to digital audiovisual performance are proposed as new forms of creation based on free improvisation. This implies the use of dig-ital tools that allow the performative practice in front of the audience, specialized software and audiovisual programming systems that have been developed recently for this purpose. These practices try to show the public the content building mechanisms subjacent to dig-ital systems. Desire to get into a creative process from scratch showing the whole process contradicts the need of establishing safe mechanisms to solve the technical constrictions. We will use the concept of the blank canvas, with its problematic issues about the creative blockade, to analyse these artistic practices in the new media and to show the contradic-tions and fictions that lie behind this model of creation based on free improvisation from scratch in public view

The paper analyses the evolution and generation of marks, graphics, and other elements linked with the brands by doing a historical tour. This allows to understand the evolution of brands construction during the v and xv centuries, associated with the evolution of medieval societies, the cité and the burgo, corporations and guilds, among others, in the emerging commercial society. This historical analysis helps us to clarify how the constructive process and the nowadays use of brands in different institutional, business and professional environments have their origins in the Middle Age. That helps us to confirm that most of the variations in brands design already presents in the medieval professional field are currently in use as constructive concept,

Este artículo recoge el desarrollo de una investigación teórica y formal que aborda la necesidad de crear un nuevo posicionamiento de la técnica del dibujo en un momento histórico que se ve abocado a redefinir su relación con lo real y su representación. En este sentido, y partiendo del concepto de dibujo como una más de esas representaciones, se plantea una relectura de sus procesos y del uso de sus materiales más representativos en paralelo a una reflexión de carácter teórico basada en autores como Deleuze, Heidegger o Danto. Esta reflexión nos conduce a una nueva comprensión y conceptualización de aquello que define al dibujo. La metodología seguida ha compaginado el carácter teórico y práctico de manera que se ha producido un espacio de confluencia de reflexiones y conclusiones parciales derivando, como resultado, en la producción de una obra plástica que se articula en base a la manipulación de la densidad del grafito y la tinta china para lograr construir dibujos sólidos. 

In the xix century, mobility became a central issue for societies. The expansion of new means of transportation such as the railway, as well as new visual productions centered around movement highlight this centrality. Whereas in the panoramas, quintessential nineteenth-century spectacle, the spectator was the one moving, physically walking around the image, moving panoramas switch the motion with the image moving before people’s eyes. This type of panorama exists in many respects between the panoramic view and cinematography, and is of special interest for describing certain changes upon spectators’ mobility. This type of visual mobility relates to spectators’ travelling longings, who desired from visual spectacles to feel transported. This way of travelling virtually through images, as well as other characteristics of such moving imagery like visual opulence or immediacy of visual consumption, came to be since then a fundamental component of the consumption of visual media.

El objetivo de este estudio es identificar las opiniones de la población graduada de la carrera de Bibliotecología y Documentación de la Universidad Nacional, con respecto a su formación, y necesidades de actualización y capacitación para el fortalecimiento de competencias académicas y laborales. Esta investigación tuvo un enfoque cuantitativo y fue de tipo descriptivo; la recolección de los datos se hizo por medio de un cuestionario digital aplicado a 60 personas graduadas entre 2010 y 2018. Con los resultados se pudo obtener un perfil de la persona graduada y datos sobre la pertinencia y disponibilidad de medios y recursos para el aprendizaje en la carrera, ubicación laboral actual, desempeño profesional, expectativas de desarrollo, superación profesional y de actualización, y algunos comentarios y sugerencias de mejora.

En la actualidad, es cada vez más común encontrarnos con formas alternativas para medir el desarrollo y bienestar de las naciones. Una de esas formas que ha cobrado reciente interés en círculos especializados de análisis y toma de decisión, es el de las mediciones de la felicidad de los pueblos. Por otro lado, el significante aumento en el uso de herramientas tecnológicas, como las redes sociales digitales, en aspectos como la obtención de información, la comunicación social, los intercambios de opiniones sobre los asuntos públicos y la generación en general de opinión pública, hacen que estas herramientas sean muy útiles para el entendimiento de múltiples fenómenos sociales. En este contexto, en México se han llevado a cabo esfuerzos a manera de análisis experimental que intentan conocer el estado de ánimo de la población utilizando como fuente el uso de las redes sociales digitales, de forma específica Twitter, mediante la utilización de los metadatos de esa red social. El presente trabajo pretende realizar un acercamiento teórico a los estudios de la felicidad, para posteriormente dar cuenta del caso específico de la medición de la felicidad de los tuiteros en México. Las conclusiones apuntan a destacar la viabilidad y el futuro promisorio de las mediciones experimentales, en este caso del manejo de los metadatos, para el análisis de diversos aspectos de la fenomenología social.

The celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the Universidad Nacional, Costa Rica, was an opportune moment to analyze its contribution to the institution, to the training of professionals and to Costa Rican society. This analysis of research and the creation of knowledge generated both by academic staff and by the student population in the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the Universidad Nacional, corresponds to the year of creation of the University in 1973 until 2015. The data used were the original and secondary documentary sources located in the archives and libraries of this university and the reports of the Final Works of Graduation (TFG) presented by the undergraduate and graduate students. Thus, it shows the panorama of the historical and current work of the Faculty, the lines of research, the coordination between the research carried out by the professors and that of the students, as well as the relationship with the strategic plans of each of the academic units for the management of their work and with this information the potential for editorial production can be deduced. With this panorama, comparisons were made between management processes and current doubts were dispelled, such as: what are the research lines of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, what is the disciplinary strength that characterizes thinking in this faculty, is there a relationship between the topics studied by students and the projects of academic staff, who are the authors studied, and what are the publications that make up the documentary memory?

En la educación superior del siglo XXI no se puede hacer referencia a la biblioteca universitaria solo como atesoradora de documentos impresos, sino que hay que tener en cuenta la importancia de las fuentes de información en una gran variedad de soportes, determinantes hoy, en la enseñanza universitaria. El desarrollo alcanzado ha permitido el incremento de la información a un ritmo incontrolable y aunque ha tenido un fuerte impacto en la diversificación de soportes, en el flujo de información y en la transmisión del conocimiento, también ha tenido sus limitaciones en cuanto a poder llevar al estudiante universitario aquella información pertinente que tribute a su formación profesional. Teniendo en cuenta lo anteriormente planteado se propone como objetivo, reflexionar sobre la importancia que tiene la biblioteca universitaria “Antonio Machado Ruiz” en el desarrollo del proceso docente – educativo en la Carrera Ingeniería Forestal de la Universidad de Granma. Se aplicaron métodos teóricos (histórico-lógico, análisis-síntesis e inducción-deducción), empíricos (encuesta, observación científica-participativa) y estadísticos (estadística descriptiva). Se propone, además, un procedimiento para la adecuada gestión de las diferentes fuentes de información, conformado por dos acciones y un sistema de operaciones. En el estudio se enfatiza que la gestión adecuada de las fuentes de información potencia la calidad del proceso docente-educativo, en el cual la biblioteca universitaria juega un papel importante.
