Also, it seeks to understand how they represent themselves and other women; how the gender relations were built and the meanings that constitute the feminine in the north of Minas Gerais backwoods, in the first half of the twentieth century. We start from the understanding that gender relations are not static and permanent and that the representations about the feminine are historical, that is, it is not possible to generalize a model of femininity for all social strata and for all geohistorical contexts. Keywords: Gender. In this paper I will discuss how the colonialist strategies and the debates that followed were processed. Since the end of the 19th century, Africa has undergone a series of interventionist policies, resulting in an era of catastrophe. The reactions were framed between three solutions: submission, alliance and confrontation. We must note that resistance from the standpoint of politics, economics, and religion must be reconsidered. To this effect, I brought the examples of Kimpa Vita and Queen Jinga, in the pre-colonial period, to help us understand the phenomenon of long-term resistance. I will describe Menelik II's resistance against the Italian initiative in Ethiopia and occupation of Namibia by the German forces, characterized as the first great experience of concentration camps and extermination. I will conclude with the resistance in Moçâmedes, place of confrontation between the Portuguese and natives led by the sobas. Keywords: Africa. Colonization. Resistance.

Abstract: The phenomenon of extreme violence against women is as old as humanity itself, that is, women have always been treated as objects which men could use, enjoy and dispose. What is recent in the history of Latin America (and Brazil!) is the concern with sexist violence and the even more recent is its judicialization, in the typification of crimes, as femicides. Understanding the causes of this phenomenon becomes this way central to public safety issues, the problem of health networks and schooling processes. In this sense, this article focuses on the main existing legal frameworks, reflects on hidden manifestations in the brutal scenes of violence between men and women, and points out important interfaces of variation on the map of violence against women, especially in Brazil. Keywords: Femicide. Sexist Violence. Misogyny.

Abstract: This article aims to analyze the historical process that gradually transformed certain social practices into sexual violence against girls and boys at the legal level. In the first part of the article, we discuss how this process took place in relation to international standards produced by the United Nations (UN) for children, with emphasis on the debates on Article 34 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Subsequently, we verified how the theme of the considered sexual violence was approached in the text of the Statute of the Child and Adolescent, promulgated in 1990, by the Brazilian government. Keywords: Childhood. Convention on the Rights of the Child. Statute of the Child and Adolescent.

O texto aborda, a pretexto da experiência fílmica do ativista cultural pernambucano Jomard Muniz de Britto, o descentramento de gênero presente na produção de filmes em formato super-8 em João Pessoa, Paraíba. Abstract: Research subscribed to the field of educational research which aims to understand discourses on socially relevant themes - such as gender and sexuality - in textbooks through the theoretical and methodological perspective of Cultural Studies in Education. Through documentary research, it was possible to acknowledge ideas and representations on the female and the male body, conveyed by Science textbooks of elementary school and high school Biology available in public schools of São Luis, Maranhão, Brazil. We cataloged and analyzed 39 books that presented, for the most part, contents on the female and male body from ideas linked to the biology of these bodies. Superficially, we found qualified speeches from a cultural perspective. That way, it is understood that the results of this research signal to a rethinking of the contents of “female body” and “male body” that glimpse critical, problematizing, ethical and inclusive approaches. Keywords: Female and male body. Textbooks. Teaching Sciences and Biology.

The article deals with the policy of "fraternal protection" of indigenous people and the intrusion of land into their awnings, articulated with the colonization project implemented by the republican government in the north of Rio Grande do Sul, via the Land and Colonization Directorate. It initially analyzes the policy of fraternal protection of indigenous people, and then the delimitation of the space of indigenous awnings and the release of public land for colonization, as well as the unfolding of this policy in the daily activities of the Land and Colonization Commission. We conclude that the policy of "fraternal protection" of the positivist government, in particular of its most humanist wing, was confronted with unscrupulous public officials, who did not know the reality of the indigenous people and striked actions that produced conflicts within the public sphere in charge of the colonization processes and with the indigenous people. We also conclude that there were multiple interests around the land, a fact that resulted in the indigenous villages. Keywords: Rio Grande do Sul. Indigenous awnings. Fraternal protection.

Abstract: The beginning of the twentieth century marks the establishment of the isolated colleges in Maranhão. These higher education schools were consecrated as a mostly male space and from the 1940s a greater female presence in higher education, creating a milestone of greater female participation and interaction between 1940 and 1970. In this sense, this paper seeks to write the history of higher education in Maranhão with emphasis on the analysis of female presence, as students and teachers, highlighting the spaces they occupied, their actions, conflicts involving gender issues and power disputes through education. This research aims to understand the organization, process and insertion of women in higher education, being the university a space of education, instruction and power, with emphasis on the first three courses founded in Maranhão - Dentistry, Pharmacy and Law.  Keywords: Women.
