Regional odontodysplasia is an uncommon dental anomaly that is not hereditary and has a still unknown etiology. The affected tissues are enamel and dentin, the primary teeth are affected, and sometimes in the permanent dentition of the same individual. This lesion may be confused with other lesions such as odontoma or teeth with another type of anomaly. The objective is to report a case of regional odontodysplasia in the deciduous and permanent dentition of a child, as well as to present the different diagnostic tools. The affected teeth showed clinical examination, such as hypoplastic teeth with a yellow-brown coloration. A panoramic radiograph and periapical radiographs, as well as an excisional biopsy, were essential to obtain a correct diagnosis, so as to be able to offer an adequate conduct for the preservation and predictability of the different types of dental rehabilitation treatments that this child could have in the years to come adulthood.

Objective: to determine the concordance between panoramic radiography and cone beam computed tomography in analysis of the relationship of mandibular third molars with inferior dental canal in patients attended in a peruvian population. Material and methods: this research was observational, descriptive, cross-sectional and retrospective. The sample was 112 mandibular third molars and modified classification of Robert Langlais was used for radiographic evaluation. Likewise, other variables were age, sex and side. The statistical tests used were chi square, Mann Whitney U test, Kruskall Wallis test and Cohen's kappa coefficient. Results: according to panoramic radiography, 82.1% (n = 92) of third molars showed superposition, of which the highest percentage was for “interruption of white line” with 25.9% (n = 29). According to cone beam computed tomography, 65.2% (n = 73) of the molars showed “contact”. Radiographic sign "darkening of root + interruption of white line" had correspondence of 88.9% (n = 24) with tomographic presentation of “contact". Conclusions: there is low diagnostic concordance between panoramic radiography and cone beam computed tomography in analysis of the relationship of  mandibular third molar with inferior dental canal and there is also no statistically significant difference of this relationship with sex, neither with age nor with side.

Objective: The purpose of the research was to evaluate the in vitro diametral tensile strength of five dental cements: BisCem, Duolink, Ketac Cem, Meron, Allcem, four conventional adhesives and a chemically polymerized self-adhesive used as bridge cements and crowns in fixed dentures. Materials and methods: 100 specimens consisting of cements were prepared: BisCem, Duolink, Ketac Cem, Meron, Allcem, which were randomly divided into 5 groups of 20 specimens each group subject to photopolymerization and self-polymerization of 8mm in diameter and 5mm high, with an approximate distance of 2mm from the lamp for polymerization, a standardized high density polyethylene specimen was used, the type of sampling is not probabilistic. The specimens of each group were subjected to tensile testing using a universal testing machine (zwickiLine by Zwick / Roell), until the failure of the cement was achieved, subjected to a continuous force of 500 kg, with a fixed displacement speed of 1 cm / min Results: The average tensile strength of diametral tensile specimens of BisCem cement was 38.75 ± 11.56 MPa, Duolink cement was 64.30 MPa, Meron cement 57.14 MPa, Ketac Cem cement was 32.23 MPa, BisCem cement (38.753 MPa ) and Ketac Cem cement (39,233 MPa). Duolink dental cement is the one with the highest tensile strength of diametral specimens compared to Meron (57,137 MPa), which is similar. The tabulation and the analysis have been submitted to the Shapiro Wilk test, ANOVA analysis of variance and the Tuckey test. The values of each sample are normally distributed with significant differences between the studied groups. Conclusions: Duolink adhesive resin cement specimens showed a higher diametral tensile strength with better significant strength values unlike Ketac Cem, Allcem, Meron and BisCem cements.

Prognosis for patients with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) in oral cavity with bone invasion presence is concerning. Bone invasion patterns can be used to indicate aggressiveness and can be correlated with tumor clinical behavior. Objective: To evaluate bone invasion histopathological patterns in patients with oral cavity SCC and correlate them with the survival rate. Materials and methods: 62 patients with presence of SCC in the oral cavity as well as bone invasion were recruited for this study. Epidemiological and histopathological characteristics were tabulated and analyzed. Fischer's Square and Exact Tests were used to verify any statistical associations between the data. Results: More men were affected, especially in the fifth decade of life, and a strong association with smoking and chronic alcoholism was observed. Deaths were reported in 58% of patients, over a period of 5 years. The most prevalent histological pattern was the infiltrative, associated with lower survival rates. Conclusion: An analysis of the histopathological patterns of oral cavity SCC can be used as a prognostic factor thereby assisting with the decision of which oncological treatment approach to use.

Objective: To describe the valuation of podcasting as a tool in the learning process by dental students at a private university. Material and methods: The research was quantitative, descriptive, and non-experimental.  The sample consisted of 47 students from a dental school. For the experience, articles in PDF format from the theoretical classes were recorded using conventional headphones and the application Spreaker REC®, a free application that was installed in a smartphone Iphone 8. The article in PDF format was processed, recorded and edited in less than 15 minutes using said application. Subsequently, the link was sent to the WhatsApp® group so the students could access the audio. The podcast could be repeated as many times as the student desired. Three podcasts were made. The information was collected through surveys using a Licker-type survey. Results: The 70.22% of the respondents considered that the shared podcasts in the WhatsApp® group had a high and very high contribution to their clinical performance. It was found that the podcasts were of easy consultation (95,74%), facilitated learning (75,74%) and contributed to a shorter learning time (93,62%). Overall, 62,07% considered podcasting a good resource for the theoretical content. Conclusions: Students consider that podcasting is a tool that contributes to their learning, particularly as a very useful vehicle for learning theoretical content.

Gorlin-Goltz syndrome (GGS) is an autosomal dominant disorder characterized by skeletal abnormalities, multi- ple Keratocysts Odontogenic (KCOs) and basal cell carcinoma. Comparative studies of the associated KCOs and those not associated with the GGS have been performed, and the presence of a greater number of satellite cysts, solid proliferations of the epithelium, inflammations, calcifications, more intense mitotic activity of the epithelial cells, and greater recurrence of the KCOs associated with the GGS. The purpose of this case report is to provide an objective basis for the therapeutic management of KCOs in patients with GGS and a review of the scientific literature. We present the case of a 63-year-old patient, with a history of GGS, who underwent multiple surgical interventions, including exeresis of KCOs in both jaws, who came to the consultation, nine years after her last intervention, for an Odontostomatological check-up, finding KCO recurrent in upper right maxilla, performing enucleation, peripheral ostectomy and application of carnoy solution.

The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is considered a bicondylar diarthrosis joint. Imaging evaluation comprises a fundamental part of its evaluation, which must include both bone characteristics as well as soft tissues and the relationship between them. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) represents the gold standard for the study of soft tissues, however, until now its greatest application continues to be the visualization of the articular disc. This is why the present article aimed to point out the available information in the literature regarding the visualization of the joint capsule in MRI as an independent structure.
