The technique of lost wax cast by induction centrifugation (CPCI) and selective laser fusion (SLM) in design and computer- aided manufacturing (CAD / CAM) with clinical scanning, are techniques for manufacturing cobalt-chromium copings (Co-Cr), have different production processes. Objective: To evaluate, in vitro, the marginal and internal adaptation of Co- Cr metal copings made on a chamfer termination line with the CPCI and SLM technique in CAD / CAM with clinical scanning. Material and Methods: A master model of Co-Cr premolar shape was made in CAD / CAM with chamfer termination line. With a clinical scanner, the master model was scanned and 13 Co-Cr copings manufactured in SLM were obtained. Impressions were taken to obtain models in type IV plaster where 13 Co-Cr copings with CPCI technique were manufactured. The marginal and internal adaptation was evaluated using the silicone replica technique, the samples were divided into segments: vestibulo-palatal and mesio-distal and were evaluated by stereo microscope. Results: The marginal and internal discrepancies were lower for the CPCI group compared to the SLM technique in CAD / CAM with clinical scanning. In addition, the results obtained for the marginal adaptation were less than 120 μm and the internal adaptation less than 350 μm for both techniques. Conclusions: The marginal and internal adaptation in the CPCI technique compared to SLM in CAD/CAM with clinical scan were better with statistically significant difference (p <0.05). In addition, the results obtained were within the clinically acceptable paramenters.

There are few studies comparing the fit of cobalt-chromium copings (Co-Cr) manufactured by induction centrifugal casting technique and selective laser melting (SLM) in CAD/CAM. Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate in vitro the marginal and internal fit of Co-Cr alloy unit copings on a chamfer termination line manufactured by induction centrifugal casting technique (CPCI) and selective laser melting (SLM) in CAD/CAM. Material and methods: Thirteen Co-Cr unit copings were made for each technique. Marginal and internal fit were evaluated with the replica technique. Each sample was cross sectioned in the vestibular-palatine and mesio-distal direction, then observed in a stereomicroscope at a 40X magnification and measured at the cervical, axial and occlusal areas. Results: The marginal discrepancy of Co-Cr copings manufactured by the SLM technique was 38.1 μm and for the CPCI technique it was 42.22 μm without significant differences (p > 0.05). The axial discrepancy for the copings manufactured by CPCI technique was 42.02 μm and for the SLM technique of 60.16 μm with significant difference (P < 0.05). The occlusal discrepancy for the copings made by the CPCI technique was 101.94 μm and for the SLM technique was 232.13 μm with significant difference (P <0.05). Conclusions: The marginal adaptation was similar for CPCI and SLM techniques but without statistically significant differences. The internal adaptation was better for the CPCI technique than for the SLM technique with statistically significant differences.

The stylohyoid complex is a bony and ligamentous structure, formed by several anatomical entities such as the styloid process, the stylohyoid ligament and the horn of the hyoid. The styloid process originates in the tympanic portion of the temporal bone and measures an average of 25 mm; sometimes it may be increased in length, a situation that may or may not have pain itself. Objective: To determine the prevalence of mineralization of the stylohyoid complex of patients at the country of Ecuador using digital panoramic radiographs. Material and methods: Analysis of 2025 digital panoramic radiographs of patients of both sexes, between 12 and 92 years of age, from the period 2015-2016. It was considered as mineralized stylohyoid complex, when it exceeded 25mm. Results: Of the 2025 panoramic radiographs, it was concluded that 1206 (59.6%) radiographs showed some type of mineralization of the stylohyoid complex. Of these 1288 (63.6%) belong to the female sex and 737 (36.4%) to the male sex. The most frequent presentation was bilateral. In addition, it was found that in older adults the prevalence reached 76%. Conclusions: In the present study it is shown that there is a high prevalence of mineralization of the stylohyoid complex in the population studied.

Actinomycosis is a rare chronic suppurative infection that affects upper airways and the gastrointestinal tract. The aim of this work was to review important information regarding the etiopathogenesis, clinical features and treatment of cervicofacial actinomycosis. According to the anatomic site affected, it is classified into three clinical forms: cervicofacial (50%), thoracic (30%) and abdominal (20%). We present here a literature review focusing on important aspects of cervicofacial actinomycosis. Despite the name comprising the term mycosis, the disease is caused by Gram-positive bacteria of the genus Actinomyces, mainly Actinomyces israelii, which are commensals of the oral microbiota. Nevertheless, when the integrity of the oral mucosa is compromised, they can become pathogenic. Actinomycosis evolves slowly and it often mimics other clinical conditions such as malignancies. Treatment consists in antibiotic therapy and can last up to 12 months in severe cases. Health care professionals’ knowledge about the disease is crucial in a way to promote its prevention, early diagnosis and proper treatment.

Objective: To determine the satisfaction of patients who received a dental service in a hospital in Lima. Mate- rial and methods: The study was observational, cross-sectional and descriptive. The sample consisted of 702 patients. The modified SERVQUAL instrument was used to determine patient satisfaction. Patients older than or equal to 18 years of age with the right to be treated who attended the dental area were included. Results: The frequency of dissatisfied patients was 88.6%, being 622 of 702 (p = 0.000). Dissatisfaction was greater in pa- tients aged between 35-49 years with 34.5% and in patients who went to diagnosis with 30.9%; being statistically significant in these cases. Conclusions: Most patients who received care in the dental service were dissatisfied with the care.

The presence of multiple supernumerary teeth in the oral cavity is an infrequent alteration of dental development in patients who do not have an associated syndrome, that can induce various alterations such as malocclusions, delay in dental eruption, reabsorption of adjacent teeth, cyst formation, root dilacerations and giroversions. The objective of this clinical case is to report the presence of multiple supernumerary teeth, which caused the ectopic eruption and gyroversion of adjacent teeth, causing a crossbite in the oral cavity of a non-syndromic pediatric patient of the Centro Dental Docente Cayetano Heredia in 2019. The treatment performed was the simple extraction of the erupted supernumerary teeth and the complex extraction with flap of the retained ones.
