This essay has as some of its references the critical social theory and the human rights framework, with a particular interest in health and mental health. In this paper, I will expose the framework of human rights and the right to health from international organizations, recognizing that there are various critics and debates about its conception. In addition, I will analyze the role of the neoliberal global agenda in human rights, including health and mental health, and its impact on the pathology and dehumanization of mental health. Finally, as a professional of social work and social researcher, I intend to share some reflections on the ethical-political role of the Academy in the defense of this human right.

Have been recognized the need to make social work professionals aware of including the analysis of environmental issues in their practice. Formal education is one way to achieve this. This article presents the design of the Social Work and Environmental Issues undergraduate course as an alternative to cultivate this awareness. The deep ecology perspective, social-environmental issue, and the transformative learning approach are described as the conceptual framework of the course. The application of this framework will be discussed based on the content, teaching techniques and assessment designed for the undergraduate course.

The following work exposes reflections about everyday life, considering both its human-generic foundations and its historical and social expressions. As well, its objective and subjective determinations are addressed, for which, in the first place, the process of workforce commodification and its impacts on reproduction are analyzed. Finally, our presentation advances toward discussions regarding everyday thought, considering particularities of reifying thought as a result of capitalism, patriarchalism and racism logics.

When speaking of mental health, we cannot separate the human being from his or her community environment. It is important to recognize the history of the person receiving mental health services, in order to offer effective treatment. This article offers different definitions of the concept of mental health, as well as a description of the community mental health model and its historical development. In addition, we will contrast the medical or intervention model and the community approach to mental health.

In this article, the problem concerning disability and the labor dimension will be analyzed, starting from the premise of shortcomings in terms of labor inclusion. For this, the current legislation and the theory regarding this problem as old as current will be taken into account. Unfortunately, the laws and public policies deployed by the State do not seem to reach if it is this same State that does not comply with its own regulations. The State puts people with disabilities at such a crossroads that it not only seems to violate their rights but also the very importance of the personal, professional and work development of people with disabilities. This recognition is essential to understand that people with disabilities have the right to marry, to own property, to work and not for this reason to stop being disabled, and they can fend for themselves to the best of their ability.

This paper describes the rehabilitation proposal, methodology of evaluation of distress and likely remedial measures for 100 years old steel bridge on Ulhas river, near Mumbai. The bridge is constructed in year 1914 during British era apparently now heritage bridge as it was constructed with unique structural arrangement of jack arch decking and warren truss girder with verticals. After structural audit in 2000, it revealed the deterioration of steel parts and concrete initiated long back because of humid atmosphere and pollution in the area. Durgadee bridge showed various signs of bridge distress like major cracks in masonry abutments, heavy corrosion of Mild Steel (MS) structural members, non -functioning of expansion joints and bearings, failure of jack arch roof plates, de-bonding of concrete and exposed reinforcement etc. Paper discusses recommendations for rehabilitation and corrosion protection.

In this research, the synergetic effect of a super-absorbent polymer in combination with a calcium nitrite corrosion inhibitor were evaluated as a combined technology to improve concrete durability in High Performance Concrete. For this purpose, Portland cement mortars with a water/cement ratio of 0.4 and a substitution of 9.5% of cement by silica fume were produced. The effect of this technologies was evaluated by measuring the following parameters: autogenous and drying shrinkage, surface electrical resistivity and the non-steady-state chloride migration coefficient. The results indicate that the synergistic effect of SAP + CNI improves autogenous shrinkage and surface electrical resistivity.

The passivation process quality was studied considering polarization periodicity, passivation consolidation parameters, and data processing. Passivation process quality in steel reinforcement affects a structure’s planned future service life. Some research has addressed this phenomenon, but its study is complicated by the limits of analog-era data, dispersion in corrosion rate data, and their interpretation. Two series of small reinforced concrete specimens were built using two water/cement ratios and two curing/storage combinations and exposed to the marine environment. Polarization periodicity did not affect passivation/depassivation during passivation but on the data processing. The curing and storage process influenced the tendency towards depassivation. Post-curing storage type affected the cumulative corrosion rate from 1 to 5 μA*day/cm2; this is equivalent to the margin of uncertainty in interpretation.

En este trabajo se discute el rango horario para optimizar e interpretar los resultados de la termografía infrarroja cuando es utilizada en la detección de daños de pavimentos flexibles. Se realizó un seguimiento de 14 horas continuas (5:00 a.m. a 7:00 p.m.) para cuatro zonas de estudio en una avenida céntrica de la ciudad de Cochabamba, Bolivia. El seguimiento evidenció un rango horario óptimo para la toma de imágenes termográficas de 11:00 a.m. hasta las 4:00 p.m.; también se constató la visualización del deterioro mediante la colorimetría diferenciada en los termogramas a diferentes horas. Este ensayo permite localizar las áreas en las que se puede efectuar una inspección detallada. Como limitante se tiene su sensibilidad a cambios en las condiciones ambientales.

Este artigo apresenta um estudo de caso sobre os desafios, as engenhosidades e as boas práticas de construção envolvidas na execução de reforços estruturais de blocos de fundação de concreto armado sobre estacas metálicas. Os reforços estruturais em questão foram realizados em um empreendimento com 3 torres residenciais de aproximadamente 30 pavimentos tipo cada, localizado próximo da orla marítima.  Como resultado, observou-se que um estudo prévio de dosagem para definição do tipo e características do concreto a ser utilizado, execução de evento protótipo de concretagem, particularidades do canteiro de obras, definição prévia dos procedimentos executivos empregados, bem como o acompanhamento e o controle sistemático dos eventos de concretagem e das demais etapas construtivas foram fatores determinantes para promover a segurança e a qualidade dos serviços de reforço em conformidade com as premissas de projeto. .
