ABSTRACT: Substrates are an alternative source of nutrients for plants that have demonstrated adequate characteristics for the germination and development of vegetable seedlings. The objective of the work was to evaluate the germination potential of arugula (Eruca sativa L.) seeds in different types of substrates. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse with shade (50% brightness) in the experimental area of Campus I of the State University of Alagoas - UNEAL, the experimental design was in randomized blocks with 5 treatments (T1 = fine sand, T2 = humus earthworm, T3 = goat manure + earthworm humus, T4 = goat manure + humus, T5 = control soil), and 30 experimental units each. Broad leaf arugula seeds were used, where they were sown in polystyrene trays, the data on the amount of germinated seeds were recorded daily and subjected to the means comparison test using the Tukey test at the level of 5% probability with the help of the SISVAR statistical program. The% PG germination percentage and the IVG - Germination Speed Index were higher in the sand, earthworm humus and soil treatments (control), with no significant difference between them, whereas the humus + goat manure and humus + bovine manure treatments had the lowest averages in both variables. It is inferred that the use of humus earthworm, sand and soil (control) substrates significantly promoted arugula seed germination, while humus + goat manure and humus + bovine manure substrates reduced germination. Sheep breeding in the Alagoas backwoods is quite frequent and mainly family, which favors the consumption of meat products and consequently a direct relationship between the consumer and the seller. The objective of this study was to evaluate the sheep meat consumer profile in the middle of the Alagoas countryside. The survey was conducted through interviews with 200 people approached in the municipalities of Maravilha and Santana do Ipanema, from May to June. Through the application of structured questionnaires in order to capture the socioeconomic profile and consumption of sheep meat. The questionnaire has a total of 20 questions. Data were analyzed and expressed as percentages. After tabulating the data, it was observed that 30%, 29 and 40% of respondents from Santana do Ipanema and Maravilha respectively corresponded to the age group of 21 to 25 years, while gender 56% and 70% were male for the municipalities. Santana do Ipanema and Maravilha respectively. The price most frequently disbursed by respondents in 1kg of sheep meat in the municipality of Santana do Ipanema was R$ 20.00 (24%) and R$ 18.00 (20%) and Wonder the most frequently price was $ 17 .00 (22%). The main place of purchase of sheep meat is in refrigerated (36%) and free markets (32%) in Santana do Ipanema, however in Maravilha the main supplier of sheep meat is the producers with 29% of frequency of acquisition of respondents and 27% buy the product in free markets. It was evidenced that the main supplier of sheep meat is the family farmer, it was also observed that the sheep meat has longer period of consumption in festive periods.

ABSTRACT: This article aims to present the organization of the activities developed in the Institutional Scholarship and Initiation Program (PIBID) of the State University of Alagoas (UNEAL) from 2018 to 2019, at Monsenhor Macedo State School. in the 3rd grade class in Cartography. There is always an interest in provoking critical thinking in students about teaching provided and applied in the classroom, especially regarding the use of maps in geography classes. This is why the importance of this language is emphasized, so that the subject understands with more meaning the construction, organization and reconstruction of the geographical space. In this sense, the main objective of the project was to make the student understand the factors of the cartographic base working with the information of the contents presented and discussed in the Geography in the classroom. From the imagination, reading and construction of maps it is possible to associate the real world with its representation in Cartography produced in the didactic material and even subtract from it other forms of interpretation. Thus, the work started from the deficiency presented by most students coming from the early grades of elementary school to high school, without understanding the true meaning of geographic information in relation to the teaching-learning of cartography in the classroom. It stands out in the observations collected in this work, as references to the part of the workshops, authors such as ALMEIDA (2011) and SIMIELLI (1991), besides the professor Dr. Ailton Feitosa, in playful activities that are not inserted in the school routine, bringing to the center. from their knowledge what the monotony of the textbook usually conceals. ABSTRACT:  Maize and sorghum constitute two of the main crops used by Brazilian agribusiness. These are plants belonging to the Poaceae family, with applications in animal and human food, syrup production and other usual uses. Despite having many similarities, they also have distinctions. These distinctions, can determine which of the grasses can be more advantageous to cultivate. In this context, the main objective of this literature review is to expose individual and shared characteristics between maize and sorghum, aiming to demonstrate to the urban and rural population, the knowledge about the two crops and their possibilities. The theoretical framework was based on the databases of Google Scholar, Scielo, Embrapa Milho e Sorgo, and Capes, where from the content, topics were formulated on silage and animal feed, production and economic importance, maize and sorghum by-products, human nutrition, and cultivation of corn and sorghum, in which the appropriate climate, soil, irrigation and fertilization were addressed. Through this bibliographic review, the potential to be explored with such cultures became clear, emphasizing the importance of aggregating dispersed information in order to know the characteristics that surround these cultures, since it was observed that the way in which the grains are cultivated and the place, can determine the level of productivity and assist in the selection of which grass to cultivate, considering the interest of the producer to have an improvement of the crops and a lower risk of frustration after planting.

ABSTRACT: The indiscriminate use of agrotoxic is a serious environmental and public health problem. The objective of this study was to characterize the practices of agrotoxic use in horticulture, as well as the profile of horticulturists in the municipality of Arapiraca-AL. Semi-structured interviews were realized between March and May 2019 on 25 properties located in four rural district. Data frequency analysis was been performed in Microsoft Excel for Windows®. Results observed were: 40% of horticulturists were between 20 and 29 years old; 48% had incomplete elementary school; 50.62% of the most cultivated vegetables were lettuce (Lactuta sativa L.), coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) and sweet pepper (Capsicum annum L.); the main agrotoxic used were Roundup®, Amistar Top® and Premio®; 56% of respondents used agrotoxics weekly; 88% of horticulturists used individual protective equipment during the application of agrotoxic; 12% of horticulturists show some symptoms after applying for agrotoxic, etc. Although most horticulturists are aware of some risks from agrotoxic use and use the IPE, it is worrying that these workers use agrotoxic not recommended for the types of crops. Finally, the results can help the competent public agencies in the elaboration of effective methods to improve horticultural productivity in the Arapiraca region. In recent years the water availability has been strongly affected by generating negative impacts on plants. Mechanisms that allow the plants to resist prolonged periods of drought have been a strategy for maintenance of agricultural production. With this, the aim of this work was to evaluate the use of salicylic acid as a strategy to mitigate the effects of water deficit on plants of Basil (Ocimum basilicum L.). The treatments consisted of: T1-irrigated Plants without the application; T2-Plants irrigated with the application; T3-non-irrigated Plants without the application; and T4-plants irrigated with the application. In relation to the Visual symptoms, salicylic acid dampen the wilting of plants not irrigated, not interfering too at the time of Basil plants. Regarding stomatal conductance, there was an increase of over 100% for non-irrigated plants with (T4) when compared to non-irrigated plants without the (T3). For the leaf temperature, the water deficit influenced the increase in temperature. In relation to the relative content of water there has been an increase of 44.5% with application of the plants not irrigated (T4) compared with non-irrigated plants without the (T3). In relation to the relative content of water there has been an increase of 44.5% with application of the plants not irrigated (T4) compared with non-irrigated plants without the (T3).  We concluded that the salicylic acid contributed positively as buffer the effects of water stress on Basil plants, promoting an increase in stomatal conductance and relative water content.
