Curricular transformation is today an international demand and a requirement met in most countries worldwide. Peru and Cuba are reliable proof of arduous curricular transformations essentially in university education. Given the promulgation of a new university law and the change of statute of the National University of San Agustín (UNSA), in Arequipa; The need for a curricular reform was raised and, consequently, the challenge of integrating the teaching community into this process to guarantee its success. Reasons that led to the realization of the present investigation that seeks to describe the results obtained by the institution in the integration and participation of teachers in the process of curricular reform. All this in response to social demand and based on the modest contribution to the enrichment of curriculum theory, based on the socialization and exchange of developed practices and experiences.

The teaching of English for Professional Purposes (EPP) is of great importance as it allows students to communicate by using the scientific discourse. However, sophomore industrial engineering students from José Antonio Echeverría Technological University of Havana (CUJAE) face difficulties regarding their communication in EPP due to the lack of vocabulary related to their field and their limited oral and written performance about topics concerning their specialty. This paper aims at presenting communicative activities supported on the use of Content-Based Approach which were put into practice during the teaching-learning process of English for Professional Purposes. This subject is taught in the fourth semester of Industrial Engineering major at CUJAE. These communicative activities favored the students’ analysis-synthesis processes, the use of reading techniques and communicative functions which characterizes the scientific discourse, as well as the students´ motivation, interaction and coevaluation. In sum, the communicative activities designed allowed the students not only develop their linguistic skills but also broaden their knowledge about English and the content related to their professional field. This shows that the link between English and the contents of the academic subjects studied contribute to the training of better professionals.

Malocclusions occupy the third position in relation to priorities in the scale of oral health problems in Brazil, being quite frequent in children with primary or mixed dentition, and despite having a multifactorial etiology, there is a high relationship with deleterious oral habits, generating a great impact on quality of life of individuals. Was analyzed through clinical examination the main dental malocclusions that affect schoolchildren aged 8 to 13 years, from a public school in Maceió - Brazil, who had deleterious oral habits. This is a quantitative analytical cross-sectional study, which assessed the occlusion of 100 children (n = 100) by intra-oral clinical examination. A semi-structured questionnaire was used to learn about existing deleterious oral habits, interferences in mandibular movements, type of bite and intermaxillary relationship (Angle classification). This study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee - REC-UNIT \ AL, under opinion number: 08205718.0.0000.5641, in 2019. The data were analyzed by absolute and relative frequency. Of the 100 children analyzed, there was a predominance of males (53%) over females (47%), the age group that stood out was 08 years (44%), and self-declared browns (56%). The prevalence of malocclusions was found in a total of 55% of individuals, in which a higher relative frequency of patients with open bite (24%), deep bite (20%) and cross bite (11%) was found, respectively. The deleterious oral habits were present in 93% of the individuals, with emphasis on the prolonged use of the pacifier (68%), followed by onychophagy (10%), digital sucking (9%), and prolonged use of the baby bottle (6%). The intermaxillary relationship had a higher prevalence of class I (45%), class II (9%), class III (5%), respectively. The prevalence of malocclusions in children who have deleterious oral habits, especially the prolonged use of pacifiers, was high for this sample. These habits interfere with the child's healthy development, triggering low quality of life. It is necessary to improve public policies in force in Brazil, such as the Programa Saúde na Escola, in order to work on themes aimed at preventing malocclusions, as well as expanding the access of the family nucleus to oral health services.

ABSTRACT: Cheese whey is a co-product produced in large quantities by the dairy industry that has a high potential for use as a raw material because it is highly nutritious. On the other hand, the use of green banana biomass flour has been widely used as a natural thickener by the food industry as it is a healthier and cheaper option. Within this context, this work studied a better formulation for the production of a fermented milk drink, tamarind flavor, based on cheese whey and green banana biomass. For this, a central rotational composite design (DCCR) 22 was carried out, with three repetitions at the central point, where 11 formulations were prepared, varying the concentration of cheese whey (30-50%) and green banana biomass flour (0.29 – 1.7%). In the 11 formulations, physical-chemical, microbiological characterization and acceptance test were carried out for 60 consumers. Regarding the physical-chemical aspects, dairy drinks with up to 40% of serum were within the standards of the legislation and with formulations of low lipid content (≤2%) and high protein value (≥ 1%). Regarding microbiological analysis, all formulations were within the standards. The use of cheese whey up to 50% and biomass flour up to 1% were advantageous in the production of a sensorially accepted milk drink. In the end, the formulation of a new product with good acceptance and low cost presents itself with potential for commercialization and diversification in the production of dairy products for agribusinesses in Brazil. ABSTRACT: The intestinal tract of an individual is formed by innumerable microorganisms that, together, form the intestinal microbiota, and that act assisting in several metabolic and immunological functions. Thus, its formation begins long before birth and continues to be fixed throughout life, especially during childhood, a period when intestinal functions are still immature. This study aimed to analyze the factors associated with the establishment of the intestinal microbiota of neonates. A descriptive study, an integrative literature review, with a search for articles, was conducted in January 2020, in the LILACS, MEDLINE and SciELO electronic library databases, using the terms "Growth & Development", "Gastrointestinal Microbiome" and Newborn. Of the ninety-five articles recovered, seventeen studies with publication between 2014 and 2019 were included. These studies revealed that factors, such as type of delivery, infant diet, supplementation with probiotics and prebiotics, use of antibiotics and gestational age, are associated with process of establishing the neonatal intestinal microbiota. When analyzing these factors, it appears that adequate neonatal intestinal colonization is associated with exclusive breastfeeding, normal delivery, supplementation with prebiotics and probiotics, while surgical delivery, use of formulas, antibiotics and longer hospital stay, contribute to a microbiota rich in potentially pathogenic microorganisms. Umbu is native to the Brazilian semiarid region. It participates as a food base and for the rural populations of the Northeast region, its Umbu exploitation is done in an extractive manner, constituting an important source of complementary income and of family labor for the communities of the Brazilian Semiarid. Based on the problems arising from rapid ripening and high losses, the objective was to evaluate the postharvest quality of umbuzeiro fruits stored under modified atmosphere and natural environment at different temperatures. A completely randomized design was used, with 6 treatments (use or not of the PVC film and four different temperatures), with 5 repetitions and 4 analysis periods. The statistical analysis of the results was performed using the SISVAR program. It was concluded that PVC packaging proved to be efficient in maintaining the quality of umbu fruits, preserving the mass of stored fruits for a longer time, this effect is intensified when the fruits are stored at temperatures of -5ºC and 12ºC.
