A disposable plastic plate can take between 100 and 1000 years to disintegrate, a plastic bag 150 years and PET bottles take up to 1000 years to degrade. Despite this, the use of plastic products is increasing every day. For this reason, the objective is to develop a material that can work to manufacture biodegradable items (plates, glasses, cutlery, bags, among others), which can disintegrate in less time, and thus offer a feasible solution to this problem. For the preparation of this project, the properties of coconut fiber and plantain banana peel were investigated to make the prototype of biodegradable material from each of them, together with other components. In addition, tests were carried out with each material, controlling the temperature and portions of the raw material in each test until the optimal quantities to be used were found. Finally, the decay time of the material was measured by leaving it outdoors, that is, under the sun and rain. The final result is a biodegradable material using two different raw materials, but when comparing its degradation time, it is very similar being in a range of 35 to 40 days, which is much less than the stipulated time (3 months). With this it is proven that coconut fiber and banana peels are an excellent alternative to replace soon the highly polluting plastic.

Walkability has a direct relationship to the built environment. It benefits or damages the urban factory’s vitality, where achieving pedestrian flow means success by reducing cars usage and follows the path to a sustainable city. This research makes a quantitative and qualitative analysis of pedestrian flow in transition spaces using the areas surrounding Via Argentina Metro Station in Panama City, where the Piex building is found; by implementing a direct methodology, composed by two measurement types: objective measurement (recording) during two different times of the day (12:00 to 1:00p. m. and 5:00p. m. to 6:00p. m. ) and subjective measurement (survey). The pedestrian path mapping in the study area shows significantly different patterns between each of the two schedules studied. In the hours of 12:00 p. m. to 1:00 p. m., many pedestrians use the sidewalks next to the buildings while in the afternoon hours from 5:00 p. m. to 6:00 p. m., they use the sidewalk parallel to the España Avenue. Taking into account that according to the results of the survey conducted from 12:00 p. m. to 1:00 p. m., pedestrians prefer to walk through the roofed area produced by the buildings and make a utilitarian walk since they are motivated to move for studies and work

In order for companies to achieve success in the management of the internal supply chain, it is essential that their employees have the skills and competencies required for this. In this direction, we seek to identify the most important skills and competencies for the SCM in West Panama. In this way, a study has been found that emphasizes the 48 skills and competencies required for the success of companies in the supply chain by Gómez-Cedeño (2017). Based on this study, we proceeded to conduct a survey of Logistics students and Industrial Engineering. Through the analysis of the IPM Matrix, the most important skills for companies were obtained, but with low student performance: Finance and Budget Management and Information Technology Skill. In this way, we recommend strengthening these skills through new subjects, innovative teaching methodologies, work practices and workshops in companies to improve the performance of future professionals.
