Tereza Guimarães Lima, Maria
Sociedade Psicanalítica de Porto Alegre
The author describes aspects inherent to the moment in life of the elderly. Effects in relation to psychic, physical and organic processes impacting them are discussed. Clinical comments are presented on the inner world of some long-lived elderly people upon revealing their anguish at approaching finitude. The article addresses how anguish and depression are present in this stage of life, seeking in poetry verses that engage with her arguments.

After characterizing the infantile in the terms proposed by D. Winnicott and F. Guignard, the author examines some aspects of aging and analytical listening as the analyst ages, finally describing based on clinical case fragments how the search for the infantile can occur in old age. Considering that the infantile is the most genuine within us and that it is never fully exposed, it would constitute a permanent invitation for us to engage more deeply, throughout the entire life cycle, in the infinite experience and adventure that is to be alive.

We document an unusual behavior in a population of the Mesquite Spiny Lizard Sceloporus grammicus in the municipality of Rincon de Romos, Aguascalientes, Mexico. On approximately 30 occasions we were able to observe and photo-document some individuals of this lizard jumping onto the backs and extremities of cattle when they lay down near the trees. Evidently, this behavior is aimed at predating on the Stable Flies Stomoxys calcitrans, which have been documented to alight on cattle to feed on their blood. The interesting thing is that Mesquite Spiny Lizards could inadvertently function as a biological control that would help cattle get rid of some bites and potential diseases. However, cattle frequently attempted to pull the lizards by making movements with their back muscles or trying to scare them away by making agitated movements with their tails.

We rediscovered and confirmed, after a span of 79 years, the presence of the Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Crotalus atrox in the Mexican state of Oaxaca. The record is based on six specimens found in an anthropized environment within the Base Aérea Militar II located in Ciudad Ixtepec, in the municipality of Asunción Ixtaltepec within the Isthmus of Tehuantepec region.

The Speckled racer (Drymobius margaritiferus) is a medium-sized member of Colubridae family that inhabits from the southern United States to Colombia. It feeds mainly on amphibians and has been recorded as prey for diurnal birds of prey. The Great kiskadee (Pitangus sulphuratus) is a member to the Tyrannidae family that occurs from the southern United States to central Argentina and has been recorded as a predator of amphibians and small reptiles. In this paper we report the first record of predation of D. margaritiferus by P. sulphuratus, adding the bird as a predator of this species of snake.

We formally recorded the presence of the pygmy rattlesnake Sistrurus miliarius for Mexico. The record was made based on the discovery of a specimen photographed alive in August 2014 in an agricultural field surrounded by native vegetation in the Ejido El Tecolote, municipality of Heróica Matamoros, Tamaulipas. S. miliarius represents the second species of the genus Sistrurus for Mexico. In addition, we report the finding of an unpublished formal collection deposited in the Cornell University Vertebrate Collection in the United States of America. Both records extend the distribution of the species to approximately 270 and 226 kilometers respectively southwest of the nearest locality in Refugio County, Texas, U.S.A

The state of Sinaloa in Mexico is a region with little field work in the study of herpetofauna. Here we present four new municipal records of Coniophanes lateritius, Mastigodryas cliftoni, Salvadora deserticola and Tantilla yaquia for the municipality of Cosalá. In addition, we provide a list of rare species with no records for more than 50 years in Sinaloa. Of the 122 species of reptiles registered in Sinaloa, 19 (15%) require verification of their presence in the state to clarify their conservation status. To be successful in searching for these species, field effort alone is not enough, therefore, we suggest that field work should be appropriately directed in consideration of the species' geographic range or historical search of localities, preferences of habitat, reproductive phenological dynamics or unexplored sites with similar habitats that can potentially support populations of the species.

Incilius marmoreus is a species of toad endemic to Mexico for which information about its natural predators is limited. In this paper I present three cases of predation during night outings in the Coastal region of Oaxaca. The predation events were observed while the individuals were foraging in Huatulco National Park and the Candelabra trail at the beginning of the rainy season.
