Diabetes mellitus negatively affects the quality of life of patients who suffer it. In this regard, a non-experimental cross-sectional study was carried out in order to determine the relationship between quality of life according to the dimensions of the Euro-Qol (EQ-5D) questionnaire and the HbA1c 42 values in patients diagnosed with type 2diabetes Mellitus in El Retamal neighborhood, city of Riobamba from January to February 2019. Data about health-related quality of life were collected using the EQ-5D questionnaire, while glycosylated hemoglobin values were obtained from the medical records. A statistically significant relationship was established between all the dimensions of the EQ-5D questionnaire and the glycosylated hemoglobin values with a value of p<0.001 through a univariate linear regression. It was concluded that self-perception of health-related quality of life and glycosylated hemoglobin values are closely related.

Objective: to determine the sociodemographic characteristics and the adaptive modes affected in diabetic patients treated in health centers of the Chambo-Riobamba District during the period April-August 2017. Method: a study with a mixed, descriptive-cross-sectional approach was carried out in a population made up of 157 patients with NCD, they were attended in the centers of the Chambo-Riobamba District, Ecuador. 40 patients over 19 years of age were selected considering aspects such as mental health suitable to fill out the instruments, diagnosed with type II diabetes mellitus, regular residence in the aforementioned sectors and who agree to participate. Results: it was observed that 67.5% are female, over 65 years of age, 75% have basic education and 52.5% are housewives. They had 90% in the medium level and little adaptation to the limitations due to the disease and 82.5% rarely or never did physical activity. 77.5% manifested emotional changes and in relation to family support and 80% did not receive it. Conclusions: the distinctive sociodemographic characteristics in the study population were the predominance of the female gender, older adults, housewives, basic education. Taking into account the adaptive modes in the physiological, patients showed little adaptation to the disease. Most of them sometimes or never did physical activity. In the psychosocial mode, the self-concept was altered; as well as in the interdependence, most individuals sometimes or never received family support, related to a deficit in the search for support systems and the therapeutic regimen.

Resumen
Diseases of musculokeletal system produce disabilities in horses. Morfological study of the bone reflects the importance of providing biomechanical knowledge. The aims of this work were to determine the structural properties of the proximal phalanx of the finger of manus, and its relationship with the resistance to flexion at three points in different age groups in horses. The proximal phalanges of 10 creole mongrel horses were studied in two age groups, weight and length of the bone were taken, a transverse osteotomy was performed in the middle part of the diaphysis, and it was measured cortical thickness and areas. The right proximal phalanx was subjected to a three point flexion test. The variables under study were subjected to descriptive and inferential statistical analyses. Differences are observed between areas, the total area is greater than the cortical area and the cortical area is greater than the medullary cavity (p <0,05). The total area depends on the weight of the bone (R²= 0,70, p =0,0026), 70% of the total área is explained by weight. The strength of the bone depends on the total área (R2= 0,77, p =0,0008), weight (R2= 0,73, p=0,0015) and age of animals, the olders horses showed greater resistance (p <0,05).

Resumen
Diseases are a limiting problem in the wheat crop. Selecting varieties with genetic resistance is essential to apply proper management. Due to lack of updated information for the south-central region of the province of Córdoba, theobjective of the work was to evaluate their behavior against diseases present in that area. For this, in the 2017 grown season, a comparative performance test was carried out in a commercial production field located 8 km from the town of Espinillos, Río Cuarto department, Córdoba province. The trial was conducted according to a completely randomized block design, evaluating 27 commercially available wheat varieties. Each variety was planted in a plot of 7 rows of 5.5 m long at 20 cm distance. Incidence and severity were determined for leaf rust (Puccinia triticina), striated rust (Puccinia striiformis) and tan spot (Drechslera tritici-repentis). There were five evaluations separated by fifteen days. The area under the disease progress curve (AUDPC) was also quantified. Data were analyzed by ANOVA and comparison of means according to the DGC test (5%). Finally, a multivariate study was carried out from the principal component analysis (PCA). The results showed high incidence, severity and AUDPC for striated rust. Materials with good performance (DGC test p<0.05) were identified for each disease. The PCA allowed us to observe in a simple way the behavior of theevaluated varieties integrating all the data obtained. The AUDPC was the most useful parameter to differentiate health profiles.

Resumen
Campero Casilda is a three-way cross evaluated for meat production and proposed as a dual-purpose bird for productive systems alternative to industrial poultry farming. The aim of this work was to describe its laying dynamics in comparison with that of two genotypes of layers for semi-intensive systems (Negra INTA and Rhode Island Red) and with that of the broiler breeder populations Ross 308® and Cobb 500®. Campero Casilda became earlier into lay and showed an overall performance 15% and 12% lower than Negra INTA and Rhode. This difference was explained by their condition of semi-heavy birds thatexpress to a lesser degree the growth-reproduction incompatibility reported in poultry production. The difference in the overall performance of the free-range birds was explained by a lower speed of approach to the peak of laying and a greater slope of decrease in the laying rate during persistence. Campero Casilda was less precocious, presented a lower laying rate at the peak and a decrease in overall performance between 3 and 7% compared to commercial heavy breeders. The lower performance was explained by its slower approach speed to a lower posture peak. In the persistence stage, on the other hand, even startingfrom a lower initial value, it showed a lower slope of decline in the rate of oviposition. Campero Casilda presents an egg production curve compatible with the proposal of using as layers the females from this cross originally conceived touse both sexes for meat production.

Resumen
Persea americana Mill, or simply avocado is one of the fruits withthe highest content of biactive compounds, where its seed, considered a wasteproduct, has a high antioxidant potential that can generate health benefits. Theobjective of the study was to determine the concentration of total phenoliccompounds, flavonoids and to evaluate the antioxidant activity of an methanolicextract of avocado seeds. An extract was prepared using 70% methanol andone claimed that it served exclusively to buy the content of total phenols andflavonoids. The Folin-Ciocalteu method, the colorimolic method proposed byMarinova, and the oxidative stress test in Saccharomyces cerevisiae (biologicalmodel) were used. The analysis showed a concentration of total phenols of 53.12± 1.35 and flavonoids 38.22 ± 0.69 with statistical difference with the extractused as control. In relation to the antioxidant activity, inhibition of the oxidativestress induced in S. cerevisiae was observed by the extract. From being a wastematerial, these results indicate that the avocado seed can be an alternative forthe consumption of bioactive compounds, which coincides with those reportedworldwide.
