Resumen
To improve analysis of the current Eastern Pacific Green (EPG) turtle population status, a spatial assessment is needed on their presence and frequency in their frequented habitats. This study aims to develop a framework from which a baseline study could be undertaken focused on EPG turtles surrounding the waters of Parque Nacional Zona Marina from the Archipiélago Espíritu Santo. Two years of data and a research survey focused on Local Ecological Knowledge (LEK) from ecotourism guides operating out of La Paz, BCS, México were used. Due to the University of California’s Institutional Review Board’s (IRB) protocol and small sample size of survey participants, survey data may not be used to extrapolate to the population of ecotourism operators in La Paz. Although past studies have integrated LEK from fishers, this is the first study to introduce LEK from the ecotourism sector to inform EPG turtle conservation efforts in México. The results from this project will contribute to a better understanding and further insight of how this species utilizes this area.

Resumen
This study apports new information on the diversity of amphibians and reptiles in a freshwater wetland of Tabasco. From January to December 2014, monthly samplings were conducted in the Chaschoc lagoon wetlands to establish a checklist of amphibians and reptiles for this site and to detect potential threats to their conservation. Diurnal and nocturnal surveys were conducted in terrestrial habitats, while surveys were conducted in water bodies for turtles and crocodiles. Fifty-five species were detected (12 amphibians, and 43 reptiles), representing 32.4% of the species recorded for Tabasco. Species accumulation models resulted in percentages of inventory completeness above 92 %. Most of the species do not appear in IUCN Red List of threatened species, appendices of CITES, or the list of threatened species of the Official Mexican Norm NOM-59-SEMARNAT-2010. Main threats detected for the herpetofauna were cattle ranching, illegal hunting and collecting, destruction, fragmentation and pollution of the habitat, and intentional fires. We also detected three non-native invasive species of reptiles.

Resumen
In this work, the first case of melanism in Crotalus intermedius gloydi was recorded in the Sierra de Miahuatlán, Oaxaca. This species is endemic to Mexico and is distributed in the center and south of the country; therefore, having this genetic condition suggests positive advantages that can be obtained by some groups of ectothermic vertebrates such as reptiles.

Resumen
In Latin America, a large part of its population is made up of indigenous peoples and ethnic groups, which is why several countries in the region have called themselves plurinational and pluricultural, this form of government seeks the active participation of its citizens for the election of their representatives, their political and social organization, for which it must guarantee adequate mechanisms of democracy to ensure the inclusion of its participants. Community democracy is presented as the exercise of self-government that expresses the form of political participation of the communities, the same that has the purpose of recognition and valuation of cultural traditions, the struggle for dignity, respect and equality. The objective of the manuscript is to determine if the public policies established by the Ecuadorian State allow the preservation and strengthening of community democracy in Ecuador; to achieve this purpose, a comparative legal analysis of community democracy and the public policies that have been implemented to strengthen it is carried out. The results indicate that public policies implemented in a correct manner would allow preserving and strengthening community democracy in Ecuador, as long as the mechanisms are applied in an organized manner and effectively disseminated to all citizens. Furthermore, this type of democracy can also be implemented in community, neighborhood, local, urban and rural spaces in order to comply with the principle of inclusion and equitable participation.
