The purpose of this paper is to offer a synthesis on a specific type of archaeological record: lithic workshops. It considers that it has a structural correlation with the land and seeks to represent it with relief and slope maps, giving the latter a causal attractor value for the eco-economic exploitation of the environment by the pre-Hispanic population. The studied workshops are located in the south of the Comechingones Mountains, in a sector of eroded mountain ranges with a maximum altitude of 1100 m.s.n.m. It is a very numerous type of archaeological record in this part of the mountain range; is considered the same representative of a mode of production and a long techno-economic tradition by the indigenous populations that colonized this landscape in prehispanic times.

Abstract: The use of starch and pollen grains in archaeological contexts is an useful and innovative research tool; that allows complete interpretations and direct evidence of the interaction, domestication, use and consumption of the plants related to human groups that inhabited a determined place. The first step to make their identification in archaeological environmental is the reference collection of local plant material allowing the identification of found materials. Convolvulaceae and Fabaceae species were recorded in pre-Hispanic populations with ritual and food purpose. In this research, native species of these families present in Entre Rios province were study in their starch grains and palynological features. The starch and pollen elements were extracted by conventional methods, and their analysis provide important information to characterize them, which would allow to be used in future archaeological studies. The first archaeological investigations carried out in the Serra da Capivara National Park, southeastern Piauí-Brazil, began in the 70’s conducted by the archaeologist Niède Guidon, with the aim of contextualizing the sites with rock paintings, resulting in a hypothetical prior arrangement for a recognition of cultural identities and chronologies. The classificatory definition of Tradition starts from the typological similarities that are found between the graphisms. In this research, rock art is considered as a means of communication, in which it follows a pre-established code. The aggressive and violent behavior can be seen in the archaeological record in destroyed villages, human skeletons with marks of fractures and in the gestuality represented in rock drawings. This research aims at identifying graphic patterns present in war scenes, and has as a specific objective the identification of recognizable elements, such as anthropomorphs, objects of use, and cultural attributes. In the primitive groups, aggressive and violent behavior had diverse motivations, cultural rituals, conflicts between groups, or acquisition of essential resources for the survival of the group.

In this paper we discuss the conformation of agricultural productive landscapes in a part of the Northern sector of the Humahuaca Quebrada. This is an area where agricultural production is hampered by to the rigorous environmental conditions that characterize it. By employing spatial analysis techniques, we characterize the general spatial structure and organization of current day settlement and agricultural production, focusing on the dense and disperse occupation patterns that can be discerned in the area. Then, we discuss the available archaeological evidences for past productive landscapes, with special attention paid to the Antumpa archaeological site. Even when the information of past productive landscapes is still fragmentary, we compare the available data with the spatial patterns of the modern settlement structure, identifying instances of long term continuity in the use of productive spaces. We point out possible evidences of significant changes as well, as represented by the emplacement of archaeological agricultural facilities on higher elevations. This could reflect both the intention to expand the area´s productive potential in certain times in the past, as well as different environmental conditions that made cultivation in those places possible.

In this paper we reflect on meanings and practices set into motion around the archaeological materials that integrate the collections of the Interpretation Indigenous Center “El Antigal” (San Pedro city, Buenos Aires Province), which is managed by the Lma Iacia Qom people. Founded in 2009, this space fosters a series of activities to preserve and express the indigenous culture, articulating the investigation and rescue of its history with claims of self-recognition and strengthening of their identity.

It proposes an approach to the study of material evidences of occupation of space by the end of the 19th century, in two sites located in the southern sector of the Área Ecotonal Húmedo Seca Pampeana (AEHSP). The first, San Carlos, is located in the grounds of the ranch Santa Ana in the party of Coronel Suárez, in the southwest of the province of Buenos Aires. The other site is the home of the first mayor of the town of Puan, Rómulo Franco, located on the island of Puan in the municipality of the same name, next to the head of the Buenos Aires district. Both sites present residential structures remaining, where we evaluated the different construction phases of the structures that are currently observed, which can help determine the functionality of the site. The theoretical positions of the archaeology of architecture were considered for the analysis which involves studying the relationship of human beings with constructions that uses or elaborates. Attempts to identify “how the medium is changed?” and “how the constructed spaces are designed with the aim of favouring certain perceptions?” If it is determined how the spaces are designed and organized to facilitate some perception with respect to its environment and the construction itself, you can access the rationality of the group who created it and used.
