Devonian vertebrates in South America are notably scarce compared with other continents, becoming this circumstance particularly evident in Peru, where no Palaeozoic vertebrates have been formally reported so far. In this paper, we report, figure and describe the first Devonian vertebrates remains from Peru recovered in the Puno region, south-eastern of the country. The remains belong to the very unusual group of Emsian to Eifelian stem-chondrichthyan Pucapampella and Zamponiopteron that characterise the vertebrate fauna of the so-called marine “Malvinokaffric Realm”. The remains studied are represented by three jaw fragments assigned to Pucapampella, and three fin plates of Zamponiopteron. These records increase the palaeogeographic distribution of this assemblage in the Palaeozoic of Gondwana, but more relevant, our findings highlight the potential of the Peruvian outcrops to contribute to the knowledge on the diversity and distribution of the early vertebrate faunas in the South American continent.

A new dipnoan lower jaw from the Wood Bay Formation (Pragian) of Svalbard (Norway), preserves a partial dentary and partial toothplates referred to the new species Janvierpaucidentes tuulingi gen. et sp. nov. The more complete toothplate is elongate with three short rows of teeth but is damaged medially. A large number of dipnoans are known from the early Devonian, showing a range of dentitions. Other tooth-plated dipnoans from this time period include Diabolepis speratus, Speonesydrion iani, Tarachomylax oepiki, Tarachomylax multicostatus, Ichnomylax kurnae and Ichnomylax karatajae, and two unnamed toothplates from Vietnam. In Melanognathus canadensis, rows of teeth are located along the prearticular, which is otherwise covered in a shagreen of denticles; this denticle-dominated dentition also characterized Uranolophus wyomingensis. The dentition of Janvierpaucidentes tuulingi differs from these toothplate morphologies and is highly unusual in having the more rostral and caudal tooth rows nearly paralleling the jaw margin, with a maximum angle between the tooth rows approaching 180 degrees. In this character, Janvierpaucidentes tuulingi is more comparable to taxa such as Xylognathus macrustenus from the Carboniferous, increasing the already high disparity of lungfish dental morphology in the Devonian.

Coal mining at the Puertollano Carboniferous basin has led to the discovery and study of numerous fossiliferous layers, rich in chondrichthyan, actinopterigyan and tetrapod remains. The end of the mining operations and closure of the mines could also represent complete cease of paleontological prospections and field work at the Puertollano basin. Fortunately, three quarries, called María Isabel, La Extranjera and La Tejera, have been declared a Natural Monument. Consequently, they are protected by law and reserved for geological and palaeontological scientific research. In this paper, we describe the geology of the Natural Monument and its vertebrate fossil record. The outcrops of the three quarries show the most superficial part of the stratigraphic series so that they inform about the latest stages of the sedimentological and palaeogeographical evolution of the Puertollano basin. The actual coal basin appears to represent a remnant of a much larger basin which opened eastward to the Paleo-Tethys. The diverse chondrichthyan assemblage (acanthodians, xenacanths and euselachians) and euryhaline actinopterygians, and the presence of tidal rhythmites, indicate an estuarine-deltaic environment. Future sedimentological and paleontological studies at the Natural Monument will inform about the degree of marine influence in the basin and the changes of the vertebrate communities.

Bryozoan fauna from the Lower Devonian (Pragian – Emsian) deposits of the Ossa-Morena Zone (SW Spain) comprises twenty-eight species: one cyclostome, two cystoporates, sixteen trepostomes, five cryptostomes, and four fenestrates. Three new genera with one new species, respectively, are described: cyclostome Diploclemella serenensis n. gen. n. sp., trepostome Cordobella tenuis n. gen. n. sp., and cryptostome (rhabdomesine) Serenella dubia n. gen. n. sp. Three trepostome species are new: Leptotrypa parva n. sp., L. modesta n. sp., and Boardmanella spinigera n. sp. Ten species are described in open nomenclature. The studied bryozoan fauna shows high morphological and taxonomical diversity, comprising mostly species of moderate size. The assemblage is clearly dominated by branched ramose and encrusting growth forms. The studied bryozoan fauna shows some distinct palaeobiogeographic relations to the bryozoans from the Lower Devonian of NW Spain, Morocco, and Czech Republic.

To identify relevant reviews on the gaps in Inclusive Education (IE) of college students with sensory impairment, a comprehensive and systematic search was conducted in September 2022, using the following electronic databases: Education Resource Information Center (ERIC), Springer, and Web of Science (WoS). The descriptors used were: "inclusive education", "gaps", "sensory disability" and "special educational needs" combined with "Higher Education" using the Boolean AND operator. The search was restricted to peer-reviewed journals and academic journals, to ensure a minimum quality standard of the included article. The eligibility criteria allowed refining the search, yielding 343 articles of which 154 remained after eliminating duplicates and discriminating by title and abstract reading. Finally, 9 primary studies were included to analyze in the present investigation. As main gaps in the inclusion of university students with sensory disabilities, it was identified that the problem of how to prepare educators to work more effectively in inclusive environments has not yet been resolved; assistive technologies and equipment are expensive and difficult to acquire; there is no natural disposition to celebrate diversity and promote cohesion within the university itself.

The present investigation was carried out in the Montalvo parish of the Ambato canton, Tungurahua province and had as objective to evaluate combinations of Agrozoil with varieties of Delphinium spp and determine its effect on the percentage of establishment and production index. Five varieties of Delphinium (Astolat, Blue bird, Galahat, Guinevere and Summer Skies) were combined with three doses of Agrozoil (3 ml.L-1, 5 ml.L-1 and 7 ml.L-1) including each varieties without agrozoil as controls. The highest percentage of establishment and production index was reached when 7 ml.L-1 of Agrozoil was applied to the Guinevere and Blue bird varieties. However, in the Galahat variety, the time to harvest was reduced by 20 days when using 5 and 7 ml.L-1 of Agrozoil, which may be of interest to improve productive indices of Delphinium spp. In accordance with the results stated above, it was determined that in some varieties of Delphinium combined with some doses of Agrozoil, a positive effect was obtained on the percentage of establishment and production index, which lays the foundations to introduce this ozonated product within the strategies of integrated management in this flower crop.

The objective of the research was the implementation of the Universal Design for Learning (DUA) method in order to strengthen the teaching-learning processes in the university classroom through the planning of motivating activities and promoting important educational principles such as equity, integration and interculturality. The implementation of this method in the teaching curriculum will allow better results in student achievement, in addition to the articulation with the educational purposes that are determined within the Plan Nacional de Desarrollo. The research is mixed with a descriptive design using the survey technique and data analysis through descriptive statistics to determine the level of knowledge and need to implement the method in the classroom and was applied to university level students of the Unidad de Admisión y Nivelación de la Universidad Estatal del Sur de Manabí.   The results determine that there is little knowledge of the DUA method as a learning method, so that implementing this method as an innovative tool in the classroom would be a timely help that echoes the basic skills that are necessary for the integral development of the college students.

The present work makes it known that the metabolic syndrome is a clinical condition that includes a group of cardiometabolic disorders such as arterial hypertension, central obesity, insulin resistance and atherogenic dyslipidemia. Uric acid is the final breakdown product of purines, nitrogenous bases that form nucleic acids.  This work demonstrates how the prevalence of metabolic syndrome has increased worldwide in recent years, generating public health concerns causing risk of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. The objective of the research was to analyze uric acid and its relationship with metabolic syndrome in obese patients. A study was carried out with an explanatory documentary design using the MEDLINE database, PubMed extension, Biomed Central, Scielo, NIH, Medline, Medigraphic, ScienceDirect. The MeSH terms "uric acid", "hyperuricemia", "metabolic syndrome", "metabolic syndrome and uric acid" were used, and several web platforms were also explored to search for relevant information, finding both original and review articles. It is concluded, that uric acid production is formed in the liver, intestine and other tissues, where elevated uric acid levels are caused by an unbalanced diet containing excess red meat, fish, seafood and fructose.

The formation of entrepreneurial skills is imminent, that is, attitudes, skills, and knowledge that a person builds during life and that allows him to function successfully. In the present study, the development of entrepreneurial skills is approached from a theoretical point of view as an alternative for the training of the entrepreneur. A detailed reading and analysis of the content, contributions and theoretical positioning reflected in the scientific literature were carried out. In the synthesis of the results, those that allowed establishing a new theoretical perspective on entrepreneurial skills in the entrepreneurial training process were consolidated. At the end, different assessments are provided on the subject. The term competence is possibly one of the most debated and preferred in educational settings. Conceptual diversity leads to the consideration that it is not a univocal concept, but it should be clear that it is: knowing how to be, knowing how to know, and knowing how to do. Great efforts are detected in being able to build a map of competencies for the entrepreneur. In the training of the entrepreneur, it is vital that the student is predisposed to assume the training process as an entrepreneur, that he turns it into a personal challenge, that he becomes empowered and that he sees it as an opportunity to transform himself, since being an entrepreneur has become an indicator that increases the inclusive potential of the person in the labor market. It is necessary to review the strategies and methods used in the training process, where in addition to curricular activities, extracurricular activities focused on local development are carried out.
