Resumen
As part of the Teaching and Learning Process, independent study allows students to apply the knowledge acquired in face-to-face classes independently. However, in subjects such as Biochemistry of the Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, there are weaknesses in its development. This research proposes a system of activities for the orientation of the independent study of the subject of Biochemistry. A case study is presented for its application where the applicability of the proposal is evidenced.
Keywords: Teaching and Learning Process, independent study, teaching of Biochemistry.

Resumen
Learning mathematics requires reasoning, development of logical, algorithmic and ordered thinking. Some scholars of these hard sciences identify it as the science that needs patterns. When working with sequences and series, patterns are recognized, that is why it is so important to do it from a constructivist position, involving the learner in the construction and reconstruction of their own learning, providing the importance that the connections between acquired knowledge and new knowledge require for learning, demonstrating the practical utility and social significance of the content. In the study of series, in practice there are problems whose models are functions that are not continuous or are of a nature that do not allow the use of power series. That is why this research focuses on studying another type of series that allows representing a broader class of functions: the Fourier series, from the application of methods such as induction-deduction and analysis-synthesis, the main definitions, theorems and their proofs from a different perspective than the traditional ones, methods that caused a significantly higher assimilation to previous stages.

Resumen
The main producer of solid waste (organic and inorganic) is man. In this context, a vision of social and institutional responsibility in the management of these wastes is necessary, because the subject is of global interest (Vergara Villamizar & Castillo Payares, 2020). Institutions are called upon to promote awareness and management of such waste. The research work was carried out at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry of the Technical University of Manabí and established the objective of developing a proposal for solid waste management based on ISO 14001:2015, in order to classify and collect data on the management of organic (food waste) and inorganic (plastics, paper, glass, metals) solid waste generated by the area of study. The ISO standard used presented four stages following the standard guidelines: planning, operation, evaluation and performance, this is necessary for its intention to promote continuous improvement in the environmental quality of their treatment and increase the performance of the environmental management system within the Faculty. Data collection techniques were used as instruments, such as: field observation, surveys and interviews that were carried out with those who are part of the faculty. Finally, it was proved that the problem was caused by the lack of awareness and little ecological culture on the part of an important fraction of students, teachers and administrative staff. Once the waste generated and its causes were identified, it was concluded that the implementation of the proposal is of vital importance for the mathematics faculty, since it is currently immersed in an ecological problem, which directly affects the environment and the daily work of the university community.

Resumen
Some results are presented from the research project "Development of technologies for the elaboration of food using edible mushrooms on a laboratory scale", which proposes the use of local agro-industrial waste as substrate. The objective is the evaluation of rice husk and brewers' bran as pure substrates for the cultivation of Pleurotus ostreatus, using coffee pulp as a reference. CCEBI 3024 Pleurotus ostreatus var. Florida was used. The parameters studied were: biological efficiency, yield, diameter of the fruit bodies and precocity. The study revealed that the brewers' bran was not a favorable medium for the fructification of the mushroom under production conditions. The substrate of reference, coffee pulp, surpassed the rice husk in efficiency, precocity and yield; however, this last one has potential to be used in the cultivation of edible mushrooms in the town of Camagüey for its great availability, low price and proximity of the rice mills, contributing to minimize its impact in the environment.
Keywords: Pleurotus ostreatus; substrate, rice husk, beer bran, coffee pulp.

Resumen
The objective of this article is to analyze five quality management models for their performance against the generation of enterprises of Higher Education Institutions in the province of Manabí. The methodology applied is descriptive, it consisted of a bibliographic review of five models of quality management and promotion of entrepreneurship that include organizational change within their study plans in various areas. The results allow us to conclude that the quality management models are a guide to establish a coherent and structured orientation of the diagnosis, continuous improvement and the actions to follow towards the search for excellence, in the case of Ecuador and specifically in Manabí. The adaptable models are the ISO 9000 model and the Ibero-American model that encompass principles and dimensions of continuous improvement, teamwork, participation, commitment, and development as a key to business growth.

Resumen
The rapprochement between Europe and Latin America, from the intervention carried out in America in 1492, generated multiple relationships, which implied the mixture of sociocultural characteristics, as well as the origin of miscegenation, traits that still endure today. These political, social, economic, science, technology, and art relationships, among others, drove the configuration of new ways of life in Latin America. Faced with this metamorphosis, as a consequence of Europeanization, Latin America responds to the material and spiritual conquest of the West with its own wide culture, contributing to the world with more than enough testimonies (Miranda and Tello, 2011). Regarding the field of art, artistic influence, with works on music by European authors, is fruitfully assimilated by Latin America, generating a rich native musical production with its own nuances, works that are elaborated, sometimes, under adverse conditions, in front of to the favorable conditions of Europe. In this scenario, the present work approaches creativity and art as mechanisms that make it possible to inspire and create works of equal beauty and rigor than the European ones, where the genre of the waltz is taken as a common thread to demonstrate that Latin America reaches a similar level in talent to that of productions made in the old continent.

Resumen
The objective of this research was to characterize the waste generated in the Manabí Provincial Electoral Delegation (DPEM) and to quantify of Urban Solid Waste (MSW). Characterization tables were used for the classification of MSW products. A questionnaire was applied to 30 officials from the different areas of the institution. The characterization period was one month. The total figure of MSW generated during this time was 59,762 kg per month between recyclable waste and waste. The products consisted mainly of Paper in 19.40 kg and Cardboard of 6.90 kg, plastic bottles 3.42 kg, glass bottles 3.70 kg, metal in 1.84 kg, plastics in 1.90 kg and other waste in 22,602 kg. Solid waste is not properly classified, so it is concluded that it is necessary to implement a solid waste management program in the institution.

Resumen
The quality of services is a requirement in force worldwide; In the area of ??education, it constitutes a fundamental indicator since educational institutions are subject to providing a service of excellence, therefore, they need to establish management models that allow them to achieve these levels. The objective of this article is to analyze different quality management models that can be implemented in the management of educational organizations for the continuous improvement and satisfaction of its stakeholders. The methodology used in this study corresponds to the descriptive method that allowed the analysis of five quality management models that guide and direct educational establishments on user satisfaction and expectations processes. The results of this study allowed to establish that the ISO 21001: 2018 model has an approach that seeks to satisfy the client and makes it possible to obtain levels of effectiveness and efficiency on the educational dimensions. The analysis of the different quality management models provides guidelines for modifying the paradigms of seeing and understanding what happens in daily life; reflect on the need to carry out an institutional evaluation of processes in a heterogeneous way, from recurrent appraisal practices, to forms of directive management in order to achieve the satisfaction of internal and external clients.

Resumen
The objective of this article is to evaluate the level of maturity of the business continuity management system of a public sector university. A valuation instrument was applied, reviewed by experts, in order to assess compliance by clauses and dimensions: context of the organization (4), leadership (3), planning (3), support (5), operation (5), evaluation of performance (3) and improvement (2). The questions were assessed using a Likert scale of five levels (Nonexistent (0), Initial (1), Repeatable (2), Managed (3), Optimized (4).) The analysis of the results was made by clause and in a manner The results show that the maturity level of business continuity management of the university is 0. On the other hand, this study shows the need to establish an instrument to validate business continuity in higher education institutions , which decreases the bias of the instruments that are used in other organizations with different business areas, which will facilitate the implementation of a SGCN in this type of educational organizations.
