Issue Information on albuquerque: journal of history.

Cultural financing through incentive laws, especially Rouanet Law, arouses perceptions that are often contrary to general population who, in its turn, often rebel agains the criteria used by companies to choose the productions contemplated with their sponsorship.  This culminates with the opinion that public resources should not be prioritized to promote artistic shows such as plays, musical shows, film production, etc.

Book review of Rock cá, rock lá: a produção roqueira no Brasil e em Portugal na imprensa – 1970/1985.

Review of El pueblo against democracy, by Yascha Mounk. 

The article seeks to understand, in the light of intellectuals Júlio de Mesquita Filho, Darcy Ribeiro and Paulo Duarte, how their interlocutions about Brazilian culture built a given university culture in Brazil. From his writings and testimonies, he observes the desire of the three to act in the poles of national construction. We also focus on the devices used by the characters in question to make their insertion in the intended intellectual sayability regime effective, infused in the statements and meanings of the university.

This article discusses the relationship between labor, immigrants and politics present in the LÉtabli by Robert Linhart, in 1978. In the same time, try to articulate the experiences lived in May 1968 as a student and political leader and integrated like workman. The main fact of which is highlighted is the experience of interaction between workman of different nationalities on the Citroën assembly line in 1969. On the other side Linhart's narrative about his connections with the working class found in the everyday. I try to approach these points linked to different cultural identities in the face of the experience of industrial labor.  

Based on reflections about Brazilian arts produced after the Military Dictatorship, this article presentes questions about the process of formation of Grupo Galpão, a theater colletive formed in Belo Horizonte in the early 1980s, responsible for recognized street plays and important encenations of classical texts of western dramaturgy. Therefore, we will focus on the environment of the 1980s, trying to understand the importance of street theater in that contexto, the aesthetic options made by the authors, finally, the thematic debates arising from the first plays of Golpão.

Based on a set of dialogues sustained with the essay Roland Barthes por Roland Barthes (2017), this paper addresses the carnal power that embodies biographical writing. It reflects on the connection between flesh and letter, pointing out the distance between them, especially when writing an historical biography of a trajectory that lived outside the text. Thus, the discussion presented here aims at bringing to the fore, as far as biographical writing is concerned, the dimension of extension and timeline of carnal existence.

This article deals with the staging of the musical Man of La Mancha (Dale Wasserman, 1965) in Brazilian theater in the years 1972-1973, produced by Paulo Pontes and directed by Flávio Rangel. The objective is to understand the reading of Quixote as an ideal of justice and freedom in a context marked by authoritarianism, especially in relation to the figure of the artist / intellectual.
