This work will address the ailments that afflicted children in the late Castilian Middle Ages. Undoubtedly, the vision that the family environment had, and especially the mothers, of the children's body, of the processes that occurred in it, differs remarkably from what we can have today. In a theocentric society, like that of the Castilian Middle Ages, most of the times divine intervention was appealed to to overcome these misfortunes. This also shows that one of the greatest ills that affected children's lives were diseases.

This article analyzes the material and symbolic devices that defined the educational program during anti-personalism (1937-1943) in the province of Santa Fe. Understanding anti-personalism in terms of political culture as an orderly construction that -lacking legitimacy- he resorted to revising and reinterpreting the patrician, conservative and catholic past of the second half of the 19th century. In a context of crisis of liberal representation (dominated by fraud), the past was the object of the construction of alternative legitimacy that was combined with a program of state centralization, an unprecedented public works plan, and an agenda of commemorations. The Ministry of Public Instruction and Development (led by the idealist pedagogue Juan Mantovani), the Directorate of Public Works (DOPP) and the Board of Historical Studies (JEH) constituted state agencies and devices that are part of the present investigation.

After the consolidation of the Pasteurian Revolution in France and Europe, in Spain an intense political policy of surveillance and prevention of tuberculosis is developed. The need for labor in full industrial advance forces the ruling classes to exercise control over the body and health of citizens. The BCG (Bacillus Calmette-Guérin) vaccine, discovered by the French Albert Calmette and Camille Guérin of the Pasteur Institute, in 1921, constitutes a decisive biopolitical tool in the fight against infection. Only after the proclamation of the Second Republic there is a paradigm shift, more oriented towards education and prevention.

This article addresses the commemoration of Estanislao López’s birth bicentennial, that took place in the first years of democratic reconstruction in Argentina. Santa Fe was then one of the twelve provinces governed by Peronism. The governor privileged the claim for federal co-participation when difining the relationship with the national government. In 1986, López’s birth bicentennial offered the opportunity to update certain aspects of the past in a staging marked by the conjuncture of its enunciation. In order to carry out the analysis, the network of relationships between the present and the remembered past, the intervention of different agents and their productions, as well as the physical sites where the commemorative actions took place will be considered.

During the late twentieth century, entrepreneurship, a term with origin in economic science, has been installed and consolidated as a relevant subject in public discourse on a global scale. Crossing geographic and language borders, the ideas of entrepreneurship spread and adapted in dissimilar local contexts. In this article we are interested in capturing the way in which this process took place in Argentina. In order to achieve this objective, we will describe the task of translating the ideas of entrepreneurship carried out by two specialized magazines on economics and business, Mercado y Apertura, between 1980 and 2000.

In this paper we touch on various uses of the past and practices of political legitimation during the last military dictatorship in the province of Formosa. At first, we analyze the grounds of Decree 3138 / 77 that changed the names of eighty – six towns inside the provincial territory. Next, we characterize and call into question the images and meanings of the past that took place during the commemoration of the centenary of the founding of the city of Formosa. Finally, we deal with the views on the province, held by various local intellectuals in the Frontera magazine, published between 1982 and 1983.

The Peruvian subversive movement Shining Path (PCP-SL, by its Spanish acronym) was one of the movements that theorized most about women and family. For the organization, both women and family had a practical nature, hence the need to incorporate them into the total institution that the PCP-SL embodied. In the organizations that currently profess to be followers of the Gonzalo thought, we can see a similar dedication to replacing the family institution with the party institution, but neither then nor now could their purpose be fully accomplished. From the comparative analysis between the discourse about women and family in the PCP-SL, and the discourse of the organizations that survived it and are aligned with the 4th Stage («of political fight without arms»), we will try to demonstrate the existence of a continuity in terms of discourse and memory in the building of the family construct. In order to do so, we will analyze direct testimonies by members of organizations that currently support the Gonzalo thought, and the party literature on women and family.
