Temporal gastrostomy as a method of degravitating the stomach is dealt with, its advantages over prolonged nasogastric catheterization being pointed out. The inlications for the procedure in certain .cases of vagotomy, performed at Prof. Piquinela's clinic (University Hospital, Montevideo) , are discussed. A detailed descri ptions of the technique, post-operativemanagement and possible complications, is carried out.

Five cases of peritonitis of pyelorenal origin are reported upon. Four of them were of the spontaneous type undergoing unspecific pyelonephritis and pyonephrosis,consistent a;ssociated with pyelocalicial dilation and, in two instances, with lithiasis. A discussion is carried out of the etiologic and pathologic fe,atures, as well as ofthose related with the clinical and operative diagnosis and with emergency therapy. Stress is laid on the fact that positive diagnosis is essential in the adequate planningof surgical treatment.

With regard to personal observation, a review is made of the jejunum-ileum tumors treated at the Hospital de Clínicas up to the present time. Are analyzedits clinical, radiological and pathological aspects, the therapeutic guidelines used and the results obtained are considered.
