Objective. To determine the antimycotic and antibacterial effect of Psidium guajavaL., at 50% and 90% on Candida albicans and Streptococcus mutans. Methods. In vitro experimental study where 32 units of analysis were included (Petri dishes with strains of Candida albicans or Streptococcus mutans of which 16 samples corresponded to the four study groups of the Candida albicansstrain and 16 samples for the four groups of the strains of Streptococcus mutans, the positive control group (2% Chlorhexidine or Nystatin 100,000 IU) and the negative control group (distilled water). Antifungal and antibacterial effect was determined by quantifying the diameter of inhibition halo. For analysis of the data, Tukey test was used in ANOVA. Results.Psidium guajavaL. 90% had a greater diameter of formation of the halo of mean inhibition 14.40 ± 2.06 mm compared to Streptococcus mutans and a mean of 13.50 ± 1.50 mm compared to Candida albicans. Regarding Psidium guajava L. 50%, the mean diameter of inhibition halo was 11.30 ± 1.76 mm and compared to Candida albincas, mean was 8.40 ± 2.22 mm. Finding statistically significant differences (p <0.05) of the antifungal and antibacterial effect of Psidium guajava L. on Candida albicans and Streptococcus mutans between the four groups studied (p = 0.00). Conclusions. The application of mouthwash based on ethanolic extract of Psidium guajava L., 90% has a greater antifungal and antibacterial effect in the treatment of candidiasis of the oral mucosa

Objective. To determine the most effective rehabilitation approach for returning to work according to the percentage of loss of earning capacity. Methods. It used a secondary information source (insurance company database named Positiva) and univariate, bivariate and Kaplan-Meier analyzes were applied to the 75 records that met the inclusion criteria. Results. They showed that there are no statistically significant differences between the time elapsed between "the occurrence of the event and the start of rehabilitation"; nor in between "the beginning of rehabilitation and the end of rehabilitation"; nor between “the end of rehabilitation and the discharge for return to work” in the physical, occupational and comprehensive approaches. Conclusion. This research suggests eliminating administrative delays and to legislate that the work of rehabilitators be carried out jointly with those in charge of intervening or adapting a job position.

Objective. To analyze the social determinants that condition early sexual activity of adolescents. Methods. Quantitative, descriptive, explanatory and cross-sectional study. The sample comprised 254 students between 14 and 18 years of age. A questionnaire was applied to them. It evaluated the personal, family and contextual dimensions and the initiation of sexual activity. For the analysis of the relationship between variables, chi-square statistical test and multiple linear regression model were used. Results. Personal conditioning factors, age of sexual initiation, lack of contraceptive use, and little knowledge of the signs and symptoms of sexually transmitted infections were identified. Among determinants related to their families, level of education of their parents, support from their mothers, and verbal and physical violence appear to have a significant association. Along with the lack of habit of going to health services, television programs and friends appear as the ones that most promote the initiation of early sexual activity. Conclusions. Personal, family and contextual are determinants that significantly influence initiation of adolescent sexual activity, affecting their sexual and reproductive health.

We present a case of a patient with a diagnosis of acute lymphoblastic leukemia and trisomy 21, who was hospitalized for initiation of management with first-line chemotherapy in whom there were various complications during his treatment that required both antibiotic and opioid analgesic management. Subsequently develops four allergic-type reactions, three of them were associated with opioids and the last of them classified as severe angioedema related to the administration of tramadol. The presentation of the clinical case is made, due to the low incidence of occurrence of severe allergic reactions to opioids, particularly to tramadol in the context of a highly complex patient receiving multiple medications.

Objective. To evaluate the clinicopathological characteristics of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, not otherwise specified (LCBGD, NOS), in a cohort of peruvian patients. Methods. Seventy-two cases with a diagnosis of LCBGD, NOS, were studied at the INEN. Clinicopathological characteristics, overall survival (OS) and other clinical parameters were evaluated according to origin cell, Epstein-Barr virus infection (EBER), and the immunohistochemical expression (IHC) of MYC and BCL2. Results. There were 54% women and 46% men, with an average age of 65 years. 76% were ganglionic, the majority cervical location and 24% extranodal, the stomach being the most affected. The most frequent stages were II (35%) and III (29%), the majority with medium-high and high IPI. Histologically, almost all cases had centroblastic and immunoblastic morphology. There was a similar proportion of cases with germinal center (GCB) and non-germinal center (non-GCB) subtypes. GCB and EBER+ had better OS than non-GCB and EBER-, respectively. Likewise, cases with negative IHC for MYC and BCL2 had better OS and a higher percentage in early stages. These findings were not statistically significant. Conclusion. Our cases show characteristics similar to those described in the literature, although with a higher percentage associated with EBV and non-GCB cases. The small number of cases evaluated with IHC to determine subtypes and biomarkers may have limited the statistical analysis in this cohort of cases.

Objective. To evaluate the effect of Heliocarpus americanus (Palo de Goma) as an adhesive for prosthetics. Methods. Experimental, prospective, cross-sectional study. Sample size was calculated by the proportions comparison formula for independent groups, 32 subjects being included in two groups of: 16 patients for the experimental group (EG) "palo de goma" (Heliocarpus americanus), and 16 patients for the control group (CG) "Corega adhesive cream". To evaluate the effect of the adhesive, the taxonomic classification of the bark, phytochemical analysis, and infrared spectrophotometry were first carried out at Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, as well as the elaboration of the adhesive gel. Eight hours after the application of the adhesive gel, the stability and retention were measured using the Woelfel method, as well as the degree of acceptability according to the Hedonic scale. Finally, the Wilcoxon rank sum test was applied. Results. The statistical analysis did not show a significant difference (p> 0.05) between the Heliocarpus americanus gel and the Corega® GlaxoSmith adhesive cream. The degree of acceptability in the experimental group shows a high percentage in “neither like nor dislike” (37.5 %). Conclusion. The experimental gel does not show significant differences in the stability and retention of total prosthesis. Therefore, the adhesive gel can be used effectively as an adhesive of the total prosthesis.

Objective. To determine the relationship between physical abuse and emotional intelligence in children from an educational institution in Huancavelica. Methods. Observational, correlational, cross-sectional research; a sample of 48 children, between 10 and 13 years old, was taken; the psychometric technique, the semi-structured interview and the Likert scale were used. Results. The type of physical abuse is evidenced by the use of ear-pulling, hitting with a belt, hitting with the hand or slapping, kicking, hitting with a chicote, stick or rope, pinching and pushing. The mother appeared as the main aggressor, followed by parents and siblings. The abuse was severe by 24%, moderate by 21% and mild by 13%. Girls were the least abused compared to boys. There were no differences by level of abuse, regarding stress management, from adequate to atypical capacity; with regard to the state of mind, the victims of abuse showed a low to poor capacity, being first the moderate one, followed by the severe one and, finally, the mild one. Conclusion. There is a low or non-significant negative relationship (rs = -0.156, p > 0.05) between physical abuse and emotional intelligence, as an adequate to high emotional intelligence is found, regardless of the level of physical abuse.
