The “mocarros” is a normal world for the inhabitants of the Coaque river valley in the north province of Manabi. Local oral tradition is full of stories of finding archeological artifacts like vessels and figures. Those figurines called “muñecas”, were traditionally the most wanted, looted and sold artifacts. Since a long time ago, many of the members of the population dedicated their lifes to trading these objects in the national and international market. This practice officially ended with the decreet Nº. 2600 of the National Institute of Cultural Patrimony in 1978 (Consejo Supremo de Gobierno, 1978) that forbids the excavation without government issued permit. In fact, when severe problems affect the local economy, looting for selling continues. Since 2015, the project of community archeology in the valley of the coaque river has allowed interactions between the academy, represented by the professors and students of archeology of the San Francisco de Quito University, local leaders and local community at large. This paper pretends, to show how important the study the past of this coastal valley is and at the same time shows how a process of dialogue and participation with the community creates interactions that builds sense of identity and results on protecting their patrimony.

Children have an innate need to explore and make questions about what makes them curious. Also, they feel the desire to manipulate objects that allow them to experiment and try to understand a certain phenomenon. Learning science from an early age allows broadening knowledge and understanding of basic topics in biology, physics, mathematics or chemistry. Also, it helps to develop findings and explanations in an effective and systematic way, moving from experiential knowledge towards the scientist. It is necessary to satisfy this need to establish the foundation for future learning. Methodological proposals such as Science to the Rescue, allow teachers to manage this potential and direct it towards meaningful learning by younger students.

Los micromachismos son una manifestación de la violencia de género sin evidencia suficiente en contextos universitarios del Ecuador. Este estudio exploratorio de carácter descriptivo y corte transversal indaga acerca de los micromachismos en jóvenes universitarios de la sierra según el género y compara los hallazgos para dos campus ubicados en las ciudades de Quito y Ambato. Se analizaron cuatro tipos de micromachismos: utilitario, coercitivo, encubierto y de crisis a través de un instrumento de 16 ítems formulado a partir de la revisión teórica y de la escala de micromachismos de Ferrer Pérez et al., (2008). La muestra la conforman 53 estudiantes de las dos ciudades mencionadas. Se realizaron tablas de contingencia con contraste Chi cuadrado y contraste V de Kramer. En los resultados no se encontraron diferencias estadísticamente significativas por género y se registraron altas prevalencias de aceptación de los cuatro tipos de micromachismos tanto en hombres como en mujeres. Toda la muestra aceptó al menos un tipo de micromachismo, siendo el de tipo coercitivo aceptado por unanimidad. Las mujeres de Ambato y los hombres de Quito fueron quienes reportaron mayores niveles de aceptación lo que sugiere la perpetuación de la dominación masculina incorporada al imaginario social en las nuevas generaciones de universitarios del Ecuador. Se plantean posibles líneas de intervención para promover la igualdad de género desde la academia.

El presente artículo, de revisión bibliográfica, tiene como objetivo general examinar los motivos por los cuales los trabajadores de las empresas e industrias en el Ecuador tienden a limitar su derecho a la huelga, que es utilizado como un mecanismo para reclamar cuando se considera que los derechos han sido afectados. Con este propósito se analizó la normativa legal ecuatoriana, su evolución histórica y lo expresado por diferentes autores acerca del tema para luego de compararlos y elaborar nuevas conclusiones que hagan un aporte significativo y actualizado sobre si existe un conflicto entre derechos e intereses. Para el desarrollo del estudio se utilizó la investigación bibliográfico-documental con un enfoque cualitativo, asimismo fueron aplicados los métodos inductivo y deductivo con los que se pudieron inferir las conclusiones que se presentan, dentro de las más importantes que se señalan son que el derecho a huelga, es un beneficio de los trabajadores; se trata de un derecho internacional aceptado en Ecuador como constitucional y humano, al igual que la libertad de sindicalizarse y asociarse. Al contrastar legalmente el derecho a huelga con los derechos a la vida, a la educación, a la salud y a la seguridad y con el delito de impedimento o limitación del derecho a huelga, resulta evidente que los mismos se encuentran confrontados.

Los autores de este libro hacen reflexiones y comentarios importantes en cuanto al control que tienen los medios de comunicación referente a la inclusión de pueblos indígenas. Hablar acerca del racismo y la valoración que da la sociedad hacia los pueblos indígenas, puesto que las personas colocan al indígena y todo lo referente a su cultura y tradición de una forma inferior en una escala valorativa socialmente hegemónica.

El libro “6:58 PM Relatos periodísticos sobre el terremoto” expone diversas vivencias de quince profesionales de la Comunicación que acudieron a la llamada “zona cero”, en Manabí. Allí, el 16 de abril de 2016, un sismo de 7.8 grados de magnitud sacudió a varias provincias del litoral ecuatoriano; en esta obra se puede evidenciar el dolor que vivieron los afectados por esta catástrofe.

In summary, this project will be focused through the objective: To study labor relations, the level of leadership in the performance of the personnel of public companies in Manta. This is based on the satisfaction of the staff and the work performance that they reflect, which can generate conflictive work environments that incur poor performance of functions, in order to mitigate the deficiencies that may exist internally in public companies, to which A study was applied through a mixed methodology with a descriptive approach, taking as population the main public companies of the city of Manta, taking as a sample the personnel and heads of human talent who provided the primary information to address the problem, applying instruments such as the survey and interview that were duly analyzed and processed through the program, SPSS, also served as input for other investigations. From the leadership perspective, it is reflected in the daily practice of functions performed by immediate bosses, who can sometimes have problems when giving orders, showing little importance in the functions that the staff must develop, since the skills are little applied or competencies to maintain a better development of labor relations, there is a lack of training that contributes to improving the functions according to leadership. The purpose of this study is to know the importance of human development from adolescents and its impact on the contribution to local development of the Febres Cordero commune, which is identified from the variables: education, health and human security, how these elements contribute to the development and development of the human being, components that positively support their training, deploying their potential, which will serve to seek strategies and solutions that allow a more equitable society and sustainable. The methodology used is a qualitative, non-experimental and cross-sectional study approach, the instrument used was the interview that was conducted with adolescents, allowing important results to be established within the family and community, which allow suggesting changes within homes, promote values, create spaces for dialogue and changes in cultural patterns, because children in most cases want to follow the example of their parents, and that the authorities promote training spaces for parents and strengthen the development and preparation of their children. In this investigative work, the analysis of compliance with tax obligations is carried out, in the commercial activities carried out by the MYPES of the city of Manta. This will show the factors that affect the tax behavior of microentrepreneurs. Over time, microenterprises begin their activities empirically, without legal bases and procedures, which can significantly influence compliance with their obligations and lead to sanctions and other negative aspects for the optimal development of these businesses. The methodology applied is descriptive, qualitative and non-experimental, the study is contrasted with the results of the applied survey, which allowed the identification of the most influential factors in non-compliance with tax obligations. The results demonstrate the little tax culture on the part of micro-entrepreneurs, ignorance being the factor that most affects the non-compliance with their tax duties.
