This article offers a proposal for analysis of Una holandesa en América (1888), by Soledad Acosta de Samper. To determine how the conditions of education were imposed on women in New Granada, we use the concept of intersectionality (Lugones, 2014). It is concluded that Lucía, a character who represents the author’s thought in the face of the social situation of the 19th century New Granada woman, is still far from proposing female emancipation by educating her sisters from their privileged position.

The novel El día señalado by Manuel Mejía Vallejo (1964) is structured around four previously published short stories: Aquí yace alguien [Here Lies Someone], Las manos en el rostro [Hands on the Face], Miedo [Fear] and La venganza [Revenge]. This paper analyzes the relationship between the short stories and the novel, based on the modifications that allow them to be integrated into the larger work. To this end, a novel articulation between the sociology of literature (Sartre, 1950; Bourdieu, 1990) and pragmatics (Anscombre y Ducrot, 1983; Sperber y Wilson, 2004) is proposed, identifying the argumentative strategies and relevant mechanisms in the context of the author's social commitment and habitus. Among the findings, it is shown that, from the pragmatic point of view, mechanisms of enrichment and informative structure predominate; while, from the sociology of literature point of view, the lines of meaning related to the social structure sphere and bipartisan violence appear as predominant.

This article focuses on reconstructing the production, edition and publication contexts of the journal Panida (February 15-June 20, 1915), created by the homonymous group from Antioquia. It seeks to identify the journals’s field where its members established synchronic and diachronic relations of alliance and legitimization, evidencing the continuity of local intellectual projects seen in publications such as El Repertorio (1896), El Montañés (1897-1899), Lectura y Arte (1903-1906), among others. On a Latin American scale, the efforts connect with the universalism of José Enrique Rodó and the symbol of the integration of the Whole (Pan) that Darío updated from Victor Hugo.

This article analyzes the literary and historical legacies of two female characters from San Basilio de Palenque: Wiwa and Orika, two Africans, mother and daughter, originally from Guinea Bissau who were enslaved in Cartagena de Indias at the end of the 16th century. From a sociological and literary approach, centered on cultural studies and the theoretical contributions of decolonial feminism and black feminism, the study analyzes the fragmented representations of Wiwa and Orika in Colombian literature and history. Specifically, it explores their depiction in the short story Orika de los palenques by Germán Espinosa, and more generally in the collective memory observed in Cartagena and San Basilio during fieldwork with the social leader Solvay Cecilia Cáceres Cabarco. This approach allows to redefine the profiles of these two Afro-Colombian heroines who, while not forgotten, are subject to stereotyped representations that are questionable nowadays.

This article delves into the history of literary prizes in Colombia. Based on an inventory of over 300 literary contests created in the twentieth century, it proposes a periodization that traces the origins, peak, and decline of the phenomenon in the country. The paper underlines the difficulty of consolidating of a national prize culture and argues that the absence of the central state and publishing houses in the creation of contests was compensated by national and multinational corporate sponsors, as well as by cultural and university institutions of departmental origin. It is shown that the role of these new cultural sponsorships was decisive in the formation of a golden age of prizes between 1956 and 1979, which stimulated the work of writers and stirred up the literary field, yet ultimately proved unsustainable due to its inherent nature.
