The study on the management capacity of ambidextrous alliances, characterized by the development of interactions with other organizations, has increased in recent years and has become crucial in terms of administration because it allows creating, acquiring and sharing information, resources and knowledge for exploitation (tradition) and exploration (innovation) processes in the leadership process. This article reports on a systematic and narrative review of the literature that seeks to identify the independent, mediating, moderating and dependent variables, as well as the quantitative and qualitative methodologies present in research on ambidextrous alliances. As a result, a greater number of studies with mediating variables were found compared to the number of studies with moderating variables in terms of alliances and / or ambidexterity; It is evident that Europe is the continent where the most research is carried out, while the United States as a country registers the largest number of articles published in this regard. It is concluded that the most widely used mixed method for proposing a model with mediating variables on ambidextrous organizations is achieved through case studies. The types of variables and methodologies used in studies on ambidextrous alliance management capacity for decision making in future research are identified.

This research aimed to adapt and validate Goldsmith and Hofacker's scale of Consumer Innovativeness. We employed a cross-cultural adaptation and assessing the instrument's psychometric properties from the original scale, including content validity, face validity, semantic validity, and statistical analysis with exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. The sample consisted of 318 participants. We present a six-items validated scale for application with undergraduate students in several scenarios of innovativeness of consumption, adapted and validated theoretically and empirically. The results showed satisfactory evidence of the scale's validity and reliability. The validation with undergraduate students can be considered a limitation of the study, while the broad scope of application of scale can foster posterior research on consumer innovativeness. The results presented are the first validated version of Goldsmith and Hofacker for undergraduate students in Portuguese as far as we are concerned.

A permanent challenge for business organizations is to transform, adapt to the environment and innovate, so knowing the factors that influence the ability to innovate is relevant information. In this sense, the objective of this article is to determine and conceptualize the decisive factors that interact in a systemic way in the management of innovation in the manufacturing industry. The research has a qualitative approach, with a descriptive and transversal scope. In the first place, a review of the literature was carried out that allowed delimiting the management of innovation in the company in three main categories. Second, the categories were characterized, and subcategories and properties were identified, taking the manufacturing companies of Pichincha, Ecuador as the subject of study. This characterization was carried out through a qualitative study that takes the Grounded Theory as a reference, using research techniques: questionnaires, interviews, and documentary research. The results reveal that the relevant factors for the management of innovation in the company can be grouped into three main categories: knowledge management (KM), innovation capabilities (IC) and financial performance (FP). The subcategories that explain KM are policies and strategies, organizational structure, technology, people, incentive systems, organizational culture, and communication. The subcategories that explain IC are research and development capacity, management capacity, resource availability, human talent management, staff skills and technological capacity. The subcategories that explain the FP are sales and costs. This research contributes to the field of innovation management with new information and theory for action and emphasizes the systemic vision of innovation management and the key factors for the development of innovations in the Ecuadorian industrial sector, with the purpose of strengthening the theoretical and empirical advances of innovation management in the company.

Public funding for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) innovation projects in collaboration with Scientific and Technological Institutions is still incipient in less developed Global South regions. Within the context mentioned above, our objective is to show a network analysis of Industry-University-Research Institute (IUR) interactions promoted by a government program, identifying its structure and dynamics and the influences played by these organisational actors. The results point out that the program presents effectiveness in establishing the IUR interaction network. Moreover, the network presents a scale-free structure, strong clustering and short distances between the actors. Universities lead as the most central actors, followed by research institutes. Despite the growth of the network with the significant entry of new SMEs, there is no evidence that this evolution contributes to improving its network metrics. The conclusions suggest that the network structure and dynamics may imply greater redundancy in the innovation process while allowing greater speed in the flow of knowledge and wider dissemination of knowledge among actors. The hubs (four central universities) in the network suggests an influence as generators and disseminators of knowledge and facilitators of interaction, but they can also limit the dynamics of the search for innovation in the network.

This article aims to analyze the influence of top management team (TMT) characteristics and employees’ human capital on the adoption of open innovation practices in low-tech SMEs. The empirical study is based on the use of structural equations from the data derived from a questionnaire applied to 95 companies in the agro-industrial sector located in the northeastern region of Colombia. The results indicate that both the TMT’s diversity and coordination have a significant and positive influence on the adoption of open innovation practices. On the other hand, regarding human capital, the results indicate that the experience of the employees is a more decisive feature when implementing open innovation strategies than their level of education and training. This paper contributes to the literature by providing part of the missing microfoundations of open innovation and more strongly connecting open innovation, human capital, and TMT configuration.

In recent decades, as a result of change in consumption patterns and search for new spaces for the creation and appropriation of innovation rents, there has been a shift in the economic nature of primary goods: a tendency to decommodification. This work presents an analytical scheme aimed at understanding the internal dynamics of this process. Its fundamental dimensions are the critical asset, the attribute of differentiation and the appropriation of rent. This analytical basis allows, on the one hand, to develop a classification of the different ways of decommodification of primary goods and, on the other, to differentiate between (de) primarization and (de) commodification of production processes, a distinction that broadens the horizon of possibilities to think about the dynamics of structural change in the countries of our region.

The aim of this paper is to examine how innovation policy (IP) can foster open innovation (OI) and trigger change in the business model (BM) of the organization. Then, through a case study, it is intended to illustrate the close relationship among IP, OI and BM at the Brazilian university. The research is an exploratory and qualitative that adopts the reflective methodology and case study. The main research findings are:  (a) based on literature review, source of resource, collaboration, intellectual property, technology transfer and new organizational forms are five kinds of close relationships among IP, OI and BM; (b) the case study illustrate that the five kinds of close relationships among IP, OI and BM have their origins in IP, foster OI and trigger changes in the BM of the university. The findings are innovative and have practical implication for scholars and practitioners.

The use of electronic resources to conduct payments in increasing. This scenario indicates the relevance of new studies to understand the determinants and the potential effects of Digital Financial Services (DFS) adoption. In this paper, we test the effect of DFS adoption on the satisfaction with business performance, considering a sample comprised of responses from entrepreneurs that are also mothers (mompreneurs). The database includes 177 questionnaires that presented complete responses for the items analyzed in this paper; these questionnaires were collected during the period from April, 2020 to June, 2020 (which involves the COVID-19 related crisis). Using confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation model, the main results suggest that attitude towards Information and Communication Technologies has a positive effect on DFS adoption. Moreover, the use of DFS presented a positive effect on the satisfaction with business performance, which means that the use of technologies to make electronic payments, to manage business bank account, and to provide electronic payment alternative for customers can improve the business performance satisfaction of women entrepreneurs.

People's interest in health issues has stimulated the development of healthcare-oriented technology products. For the process of developing and using e-health technologies, it is necessary to know the challenges and facilitators for their implementation and wide acceptance. this research aims to identify, among the e-health technologies that are already available in the literature, what are the barriers for implementation/adoption of these technologies, as well as the main benefits arising from their use. In order to identify research opportunities on the subject of e-health, the method of systematic literature review was performed using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) methodological approach. 130 records are considered for the review. The results obtained about barriers and benefits were structured from the sociotechnical (social - people/society; technical - machines/technology) systems approach. As a result, we expect to identify perspectives for the direction of new products development and opportunities for future research.

Since 2011, when it appeared as a concept, Industry 4.0 has been expanding worldwide, impacting many organizations’ productivity, performance, and supply chain management, especially in some developed economies. Prior research in Industry 4.0 has focused mainly on the conceptualization, modeling, and technological and operative improvements in the supply chain. Based on a systematic literature review and considering the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic as a major milestone in the global industry, this study proposes a new framework, divided into three phases, for the analysis of the evolution of Industry 4.0, considering the importance of including the human factor as much as technology selection and change management. To achieve long-term business success, the implementation of Industry 4.0 must consider the human aspect, such as middle management leadership, the challenges of empowering the operator 4.0, and the well-being of workers. Moreover, Industry 4.0 could foster a more sustainable, inclusive, and diverse business.
