The work aims to study the High-Growth Companies (HGF) of the ICT sector in Quito-Ecuador and contribute to improve the understanding of the behavior of HGFs in the LATAM region by presenting empirical evidence. A tripod approach is used focusing on the Resource-based view with the test of 7 hypotheses over a case study. In addition, a contextualized survey for the case was carried out to cover both the Institution and the Industrial based view. A multivariate analysis was performed to explore what factors allow us to understand the high-growth behavior. The results show that 4 of the 7 hypotheses were accepted. The correlations between profitability, leverage, liquidity, innovation, and sales growth are relatively "low" but "statistically significant." An explanation is given according to the theoretical framework built. Otherwise, factors such as: solvency, infrastructure (machinery and equipment), exports “did not present statistically significant correlation”.

This article aims to present a bibliometric study of research involving the concept of fintechs from the past 30 years (1991-2020). For this study, the bibliographical data was extracted from Scopus. Among the main results that were found, three stand out. Firstly, this article describes a general panorama of research involving fintechs from the last 30 years in the subareas ‘Business, Management and Accounting’ and ‘Economics, Econometrics and Finance’. Secondly, we detected three generations of research related to this field of study. They are the discovery (1991-2006), the development (2007-2016), and the expansion (2017-2020). Also, we highlighted connections between the three generations, as well as the evolutionary process of the subjects that were addressed in these different generations. The third result was the identification  of  six themes that represent research trends for the future, which are: ‘banking & financial services’, ‘electronic services & ‘e-finance’, ‘consumer behaviour’, ‘mobile services’, ‘risk’ and ‘cryptocurrency’.

In the pursuit of higher performance, firms often complement their exploitation- and exploration-based innovations with activities of co-exploitation and co-exploration with other organizations. Previous studies have examined organizational and interorganizational implications of ambidexterity in a separate way. However, we combine internal and external contributions of exploitation and exploration by analyzing the moderating role of interorganizational ambidexterity in the relationship between organizational ambidexterity and firm performance. Data are collected from a sample of 245 manufacturing companies that developed exploitation- and exploration-based innovations. A regression model is estimated to test the hypothesis. The results suggest that firms reach superior performance by developing a balance between high levels of organizational and interorganizational ambidexterity simultaneously.

Science parks have become useful instruments in transferring knowledge from universities to the industry. On the other hand, some studies have affirmed that technology transfer activities and results can be encouraged by geographical proximity between companies and university premises and people. If this is true, it would be useful to set up science park satellite sites near selected geographical areas. A few science parks have actually have done this. However, research in this field is scarce and anecdotic. We qualitatively explored this field, using the case of the University of Valencia’s Science Park. Our work provides and tests a methodology to help with the decision to set up a science park satellite site, consisting of three questions: why, what and how. Our work also highlights some key issues related to the viability of this kind of decision.

This paper aims to evaluate the relationship between external sources of knowledge and innovation ambidexterity and then analyze how innovation ambidexterity improves product innovation. This study presents evidence based on a sample of 355 low-medium-tech (LMT) firms that participated in the National Survey of Innovation in the Manufacturing Industry and Knowledge-Intensive Service Firms in Peru. A structural equation model approach was applied. The results indicate that there is a positive relationship between external sources of knowledge and exploration and exploitation improves product innovation. These results provide deeper knowledge about how LMT firms in an emerging economy can apply open innovation practices to develop innovation ambidexterity, thus improving their product innovation capability

This study aims to characterize the evolution of scientific knowledge about IoT and Smart Homes through the mapping of scientific studies routes, as well as to identify the most emerging knowledge in this area. It uses data from papers from Web of Science published between 2010 and 2021. Network analysis and Source Path Link Count were used to build the citation network and map the main route of knowledge. The results contribute to the current literature in understanding the evolution of this topic and can guide researchers in the direction of future work related to IoT and Smart Homes.

This article proposes a process for digital innovation platforms in the energy sector called DINNPU The work methodology involves the documentary review of research in the field of innovation, transformation, and digital platforms capable of generating value and innovation to its ecosystem; in this way, a conceptual and theoretical basis was generated that allowed the formalization of the disciplines for the design of digital innovation platforms. Thus, the process proposed here, can be used in the development approach for these innovation platforms and can be instantiated for a specific domain in which case, the assets produced can be reused to generate a product from a family of domains. The main disciplines of this process are analysis, design and implementation of digital platforms. For the case study, an interview was conducted with a group of specialists in the ICT area of an energy company (Utilities), in order to understand the digitization process or current maturity of this company. Then it was validated whether the proposed model or design is applicable or should wait until the company achieves the necessary digital maturity. The contribution of this work is to propose a process for domain engineering, which allows to contribute with knowledge and experience, for digital innovation platforms in the energy industry, in an area quite incipient in the Chilean environment.

Title: Trends of value co-creation and organizational performance: a bibliometric analysis Innovative companies are characterized by involving different actors to obtain new products and services or improve existing ones and thus affect their performance. The co-creation of value, as an antecedent of organizational performance, plays an important role within organizations, for which the objective of this study is to know the trends of the co-creation of value together with organizational performance. The lack of studies that combine them was evidenced through the bibliometric method. From 81 articles, the more relevant contents were analyzed, journals where they were published, contributing authors on the subject and the related keywords. Gaps in the literature related to intellectual capital, governance, and organizational ambidexterity were identified.

Using data from the 2015 Ecuadorian Innovation Survey and through the inverse probability weighting methodology, we analyze the impact of innovation support programs on the perception of companies on the obstacles that emerge when registering intellectual property. The results indicate that participating in programs reduces the perception of all obstacles, although only for those companies that use formal appropriation mechanisms to protect their innovations. Additionally, it is observed that programs reduce the perception of obstacles associated with the registration of patents, utility models and industrial designs more than those associated with the registration of trademarks. Based on these results, the suitability of support programs to facilitate the intellectual property registration process is discussed.

This study is rooted in trust theory to comprehensively understand the determinants of card payment usage in the context of Mexico. Thus, we employed a quantitative approach to investigate how attitude, security, trust, distrust, and intention aid the advancement of card payment usage in Mexico. Our findings show the direct and indirect determinants of card payment use and establish the interaction effects of trust and card payment advancement through gender. Consequently, this study moves the emerging mobile card payments literature forward by providing significant managerial, theoretical, and empirical contributions and assuaging feelings of distrust towards card payment services.
