The aim of this article is to determine the representation of persons with disabilities (PCD) in the print media advertisements of Costa Rica during the period 2014-2016. In the first place, we analyze the advertisements on disability that have appeared in the three most widely circulated newspapers in Costa Rica, following the Fairclough’s (2003) budgets about the representation of social actors, inclusion and exclusion strategies, legitimization and explanation that are made of the PCD in the ads. We determine the actions performed by the PDC in the analyzed texts, the relationships with other people that appear in the announcements. Finally, from a multimodal perspective of Kress and Van Leeuwen (2001), through the visual analysis and its relation with the linguistic one, we analyzed the congruent or incongruent images that are promoted in the advertising discourse. It is concluded that there is an invisibility of this population; since the number of ads on disability is less than 0.0015% and that the speech reproduces stigmas and stereotypes from a social- assistance perspective of the PCD, even though it is the State the main advertiser of the ads.

The main purpose of this article is to present a theoretical-methodological model of discourse studies from a social and ideological perspective and to specify the role of interpersonal resources of language to account for the explanation of social phenomena. In particular, it describes and explains the analytical potential offered by the appraisal system (Martin & White, 2005; Oteíza & Pinuer, 2012; Oteíza, 2017a) for doing discourse studies. In order to give a comprehensive account of this system, each of the proposed sub-systems and categories is illustrated with examples from an oral and written corpus on the discursive practices of pedagogical transmission of the historical memories of a recent past of human rights violations committed during the civil-military dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet in Chile (1973-1990).

More than a discourse about the truth, in the origin of language has been present a tell that produces sense for man to inhabit the world from chaos, from the darkness, from the reality. This article explores essential aspects about the birth of language and aesthetic production that configures certain forms to say they are more appropriate than others to express a say originating. To do this, a rereading of the Poem of Parmenides and the Myth of Babel (supported Heidegger and Zubiri) to be sources that enable access to this say and interrogating by him from the present.

This work pretends to unveil the relationship between the psychosocial features grouped under the argument frame concept (Hample, 2005) and the degree of discursive density (Noemi, 2013; Hammer y Noemi, 2015) that is reached by a sample of 243 older adults in the production of argumentative discourses. In order to specify the main psychosocial features of the sample’s subjects, the Hample test (Pizarro y Rodríguez, 2013) was employed. In order to evaluate argumentative density, all of the participants were asked for an essay about a controversial situation derived from the Dilemma of the D.I.T. Questionnaire (Rest, 2013). The information crossover between both instruments allowed the establishment of a significant relationship between the way in which the older adults frame reality and the discursive products through which it is communicated.

The article presents an approach to the problem of evil in the poetry of Georg Trakl. This is done from a reading of the Grodek poem. In the first place, the general problematic of Trakl’s poetry is contextualized, above all the tension between guilt and love. In a second moment, this problem is analyzed in Grodek read in historical and philosophical perspective, that is, the concretion of the evil understood as the destruction of humanity in the experience of the death of God. In a third moment, the paradigmatic and paradoxical figure of said consummation appears; the unborn, an image repeated in the work of Trakl and with which, revealingly, culminates Grodek, his last poem.
