Over the years, researchers of numerous fields have suggested different criteria and conventions for the transcription of oral samples. Current practice by workers who carry out transcriptions in the Spanish legal system is not standardized and does not follow any general criteria. Indeed, the standards followed by professionals in this context are characterized by their heterogeneity. This contribution highlights the benefits of adhering to a particular set of criteria and conventions agreed upon by 115 transcribers to make the transcription process more efficient, improve its comprehension and add to the value of transcriptions as key documents within the legal system that may have a direct impact on the right of the parties involved.

The following analysis consider one of the most recognized movies in the history of Cinema, “A Clockwork Orange”, identifying and examining the elements of the narration, which characterize it as a satire. However, this assertion lead to ask, which type of satire represent the Film. To structure these characterizations will be allude the Satire Theory of Friedrich Schiller, which works to delimitate not only the satirical elements of the story, but the mode the movie takes to become a critic to the society. This will show how the Movie operate as a moralizing reflection, whose originality lies in the employment of the Satire to carry out this reflection.

The present article looks at the lexical elements from Russia in the speech of the Volga Germans in Argentina. For this data recollected during the field study conducted in the context of the PhD of the author (cf. Ladilova, 2013) is analyzed. After a brief theoretical introduction into language contact studies, the article will give an overview of the sociohistorical context of the group in question. Then the Slavisms found in the study will be analyzed in regards to their semantics and their phonetical and morphological adaptation to the German variety spoken by the Volga Germans in Argentina. All in all this study contributes with over 100 new lexical units from Russian to the current state of research on the influence of Russian on the Volga German variety in Argentina.

The writing for pedagogical reflection is a professional teaching competence that must be developed during the initial training so that, later, it can be applied in different educational contexts, thus enriching the teaching and learning process both of the teacher himself and of the students with the that this interacts. The field of practical training is a curricular space where this competence assumes greater preponderance, as the future teacher must transfer various theoretical knowledge towards the classroom exercise. Under this context, it is possible to recognize the production and circulation of certain specific written genres that account for this competence. The main objective of this research is to characterize, from a socio-theoretical perspective, the genres of pedagogical reflection that students of two pedagogical careers of a Chilean university write during their practical training. From a qualitative methodological approach and with a design of Multiple Case Studies, two data collection instruments were applied: semi-structured interviews and focus group to professors and students of the Special Education and Nursery Education career. The main results include the recognition of writing as a resource that reflects the pedagogical reflection of the teachers in training; the use of certain pedagogical genres in each career and also the existence of a progression in the use of these according to the complexity and progress in the training path of the Plan of Studies.

Our research aims to identify the functional-appraisal patterns within a corpus of referee reports, a key genre in the production of scientific knowledge. For this, we first identified the most frequent functional elements or communicative purposes (Sabaj, Toro & Fuentes, 2011; Fuentes, 2018) and then described them according to some categories of the Appraisal model (Martin & White, 2005). Our intended sample was composed of 42 referee reports from Onomázein, the journal of linguistics and translation of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Some of the results show that the most frequent communicative purposes are “Describe a problem”, “Highlight a positive aspect”, “Request an action” and “Suggest an action”. The high frequency of “Describe a problem” and “Highlight a positive aspect” were expected in this type of evaluative genre. Both purposes tend to focus on content issues and present a strong monoglossic stance which is intensified with Graduation meanings. The monoglossic pattern may be due to the position of power in which the referee is when evaluating an article. The high frequency of the communicative purposes “Request action” and “Suggest action” accounts for the negotiating function of this genre. Finally, when requesting and suggesting an action, attitude meanings refer to elements of form instead of content.

In this study, we analyse the main sentential and supra-sentential functions of infinitives that are taught by the textbooks of a series called Tendances méthode de français. This paper has selected one of the textbooks that is widely used at French language institutes. We aim to identify the linguistic and discourse contents that the series of books study about the infinitive phrases, clauses and constructions and those contents that the series leaves aside. In the analysis, we observe that textbooks teach the functions of infinitive phrases at the level of the sentence. Nevertheless, textbooks do not consider the functions of infinitive clauses and constructions at a supra-sentential level. The results of this article contribute to the studies focused on the language teaching-learning process, in particular those centred on the French language teaching. Moreover, the importance of this study lies in the analysis of pedagogical materials that are currently used in non-French speaking countries.

In this work, descriptive qualitative, we study the neologisms (Cabré, 2006; Zacarías, 2017) of the Venezuelan political sphere. The objectives of this paper are i) to describe the neologisms of the Venezuelan political and economic sphere, and ii) to describe the most frequent lexical-genetic processes found in the corpus of analysis. The corpus of this study is composed of journalistic texts, extracted from the electronic portals of the Venezuelan newspapers: El Nacional and Últimas Noticias. The cases were recorded in lexicographic sheets and were subjected to the contrast analysis with a corpus of exclusion composed by i) lexicographic works, ii) glossaries of previous research on the topic and iii) the data base of neologisms of the Instituto Cervantes. The results indicate that the neologisms identified in the corpus are mostly formal and a case of semantic neologism.

This article studies the issues of the Revista de Psicoanálisis published between 1946 and 1955 in Argentina. In particular, it analyzes the articles written by the Argentine psychoanalysts that appear there and the notes and information that are included in the last pages of the magazine. It proposes, on the one hand, to trace what psychoanalysis wass in those years, thinking this knowledge as a discursive object, and, on the other, to inquire about the way in which the psychoanalytic discursive community of the APA is constructed. This journey has shown, on the one hand, that psychoanalysis was understood, at that time, as a scientific theory and a practice contiguous to medical practice, limited to the individual treatment. On the other, it has identified that the magazine, in addition to being a privileged means of communication for the institution, contributes to the consolidation of the psychoanalytic discursive community.

The objective of this research is to establish a typology of errors linked to the use of articles in SSL, and to associate the greater or lesser recurrence of errors at different levels of target language: A2 and B2. The contribution of this work is to help the more systematic and consistent treatment of articles among non-native speakers of Spanish. This investigation contemplated the analysis of 67 free Spanish-language essays in two language levels, from which a taxonomy of errors was created. Subsequently, a module for teaching the articles to each level group was carried out to see the effect that the instruction had on the handling of these elements, an effect that was measured in relation to a pretest and a posttest. The results show that after the teaching module increases the overuse and the wrong selection, over the concordance errors that appeared before the teaching module. The explanation for this may be the use of hyper generalization strategies and a greater feeling of trust among the learners. The error counts also show a positive correlation between a higher level of language, and a better use of articles in Spanish. Finally, it can be said that after the teaching module a better use of the neutral is observed, although the difficulties with the defined articles persist.

This study explores the discourse reconstruction of an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) professor’s identity based on the appraisal system offered by Systemic Functional Linguistics. Identity is understood both as an individual and social phenomenon. Therefore, the aim of this study is to track the development of an EFL learner from being a non-native speaker to a professor who becomes part of a community of practice. A questionnaire was applied to elicit her professional history, which was examined through an appraisal analytical matrix. Thus, +appreciation and +affect linguistic resources (positive reactions) towards EFL and pedagogy and –judgement (negative reactions) towards her community of practice were identified. It is concluded that the construction of the identity of an EFL professor is a dynamic process closely related to the object of study more than to the belonging to a group. This highlights the need to review the behaviors of the EFL community to admit new members.
