Resumen
In three texts that range from 1849 to 1885, Sarmiento focuses on islands: Más-a-fuera in Viajes (1849), Martín García in Argirópolis (1850) and the Delta islands in El Carapachay (1855-1885). This paper deals with the way in which Sarmiento uses the topics associated with the island to develop his ideas on civilization and to design future projects for the nation. In each of them, the island is at the same time a real piece of land and an ideal location, both nature and culture, a duality that allows Sarmiento to read a given landscape as a factor of determination and to build on it towards the transformation of space, people, custom and society on the broader space of the nation.

Resumen
This article aims to recover and analyze a magazine that is poorly known in the network of anti-fascist publications in Buenos Aires: Rumbo. Despite its ephemeral existence – three issues were published between September and November 1935 – the study of this publication exemplifies a transitional moment of the left’s culture, between the “class against class” period and the Popular Fronts. At the same time, Rumbo constitutes an antecedent of the official organs of the Agrupación de Intelectuales, Artistas, Periodistas y Escritores (AIAPE). In this context, the pages of this magazine boosted different aesthetic-political debates with the purpose of organizing intellectuals in their fight against fascism.

Resumen
This article discusses the presence, uses and resignification of scientific discourse in an Argentine magazine linked to Latin American Modernism: La Quincena. Revista de Letras (1893-1902), directed by Guillermo Stock. In La Quincena it is not only possible to find numerous short stories, articles and essays related to the scientific imagery, but also different resonances of its discourse. In its wide mosaic of texts, it is verified that, in the years of the between-centuries, the power of scientific-positivist discourse not only had an impact on expert fields but had also influenced other areas of culture that were deeply attracted to its imaginative potential.

Resumen
During the second half of 1997, from July to December, the six issues of magazín literario, Argentine edition, are published month by month. The publication adhered to a formula that circulated in those years: buying brands and doing cultural franchising. This paper aims to explore the intervention mode of the magazine in the local environment and its indebtedness to the original French edition

Resumen
In the works that make up the poetry of Héctor Libertella (1945-2006), fiction is never isolated, but coexists with its other two complementary levels: criticism and theory. However, it is possible to recognize those texts that are more here or beyond the vertices of that semiotic triangle. In the case of A la santidad del jugador de los juegos de azar (2011), Libertella explores the possibilities that popular genres, small autobiographical fictions and literary essays can offer, making them sympathetic to multiple text typologies in the same book. In this volume, many of the themes, resources and recurring concerns of Libertella’s poetry coexist in stories that seek to feel the unattainable zero.

Resumen
The characters in Martín Rejtman’s (literary and cinematographic) narrative have been read from the basis of liminal figures between life and death and between what is natural and what is artificial (zombies, ghosts, cyborgs) in connection to the political-social situation in 1990s Argentina. However, it is possible to do a different reading of these figures which complements the previous one. From concepts such as pharmaco-pornographic regime (Preciado) or Integrated World Capitalism (Guattari), we can rethink how, in the stories in Literatura y otroscuentos (2005), the technological –pharmacological, medical, but also cultural− prostheses, on the one hand, imply strong subjectification mechanisms but, at the same time, foster possibilities for agencement, resistance to, and escape from, control devices.
