Resumen
Se trata de un intento por historiar aspectos de la sensibilidad familiar y social de Gavirias y Avendaños frente a valores intangibles, ocultos tras la conciencia visible como son: la religiosidad, la afectividad y el honor. Asimismo nos proponemos desentrañar sus actitudes, comportamientos ante la vida o muerte, creencias religiosas, concepción del mundo y parámetros de conducta frente a su entorno social y familiar; en fin, reconstruir el imaginario de dos estirpes representativas de la élite colonial merideña.

Resumen
La vieja polémica entre Estado y Mercado está más que nunca en vigencia. Lo que parece ser sin dudas un doble discurso de la economía neoliberal del mundo desarrollado, keynesiana e interventora hacia dentro, y neoliberal y globalizante hacia afuera, obliga a una revisión de la literatura sobre el papel del Estado en el crecimiento y desarrollo económico, para así sumar elementos que permitan elaborar respuestas más cónsones con nuestra realidad. El autor se pasea desde los fundamentos clásicos hasta la nueva teoría del crecimiento para observar la evolución de la teoría y los diferentes aportes realizados a la polémica.

Resumen
Developed during the 20th Century and registered in the Venezuelan tradition of Marxist historiography, the work of Federico Brito Figueroa (1921-2000) represents some aspects of the contributions as well as the deficiencies present in a tradition that so far has only been partially studied by the history of Venezuelan historiography. Thus, this article intends to carry out a critical approach to the fundamentals and the philosophy of history manifested in the work of the historian, anthropologist and ethnologist from the state of Aragua. During the research, we revised and analyzed the main historical works produced by Brito from 1941 to 2000. We made use of Germán Carrera Damas´ famous scheme from the 1960´s to guide the research on the most known Venezuelan historians. This paper pretends to show how Brito Figueroa´s conception of history oscillated among his profession as a historian and his fervent affiliation and support for Marxism.

Resumen
Throughout the 18th century, the city of Santísima Trinidad y Puerto de Santa María del Buen Aire experienced a progressive situation of development and changes in different standards that seem to have affected the socio-ethnic and cultural composition of the residents of this major city. In this context, by applying the perspective of historic demography, this study addresses the analysis of the social and ethnic reality of children born and baptized in the city of Buenos Aires in the second half of the 18th century using the baptismal acts of two of the city’s parishes, Nuestra Señora de la Merced and the Immaculada Concepción, as the principal source. These pages aspire to form a meticulous, although small contribution to the study of the Buenos Aires family of the late colonial period, which when contrasted and amplified with other sources, may shed more light on the theme.

In Europe during the eighteenth century, especially in Hispan American at the end of this period and in the early nineteenth century, philosophers, academic staff and physicians made great efforts to create and disseminate a series of hygienists’ speeches in order to guide the population towards reconfiguration of the social order and avoid so-called social ills. These manuals were led particularly to women and their maternity, through which redefined a new model of femininity aimed to good mothers, educator mothers, those that were able to reproduce not only physically but also morally appropriate individuals to the new liberal social order.
