Conducting a research about the perception of insecurity in the Colonia Guerrero, means remember of a fragment of Mexico City´s history, at the same time, means rethinking the stigma that is held about Colonia Guerrero. This stigma rises when it is related to a colony where different types of crime occur. However, it is considered that such actions are not only carried out in this colony, but it belongs to a wider context of violence record in Mexico. The decision to address these historical issues from criminological and urban aspects, it is considered with the aim of generating a discussion about the factors that are interrelated in this perception. In order to achieve this discussion, it is important to introduce some historical data of Colonia Guerrero, according to the types of insecurity established by the guidelines of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

This article is a first approximation to the relationship between anthropology and the city; its objective is to recover some key moments in the history of the discipline, as well as the definitions of the city that have prevailed, the theoretical coordinates and the methods that have guided it in recent years to delineate a disciplinary specificity that is under construction against the challenges of urban life. Rather than drawing a chronology of the path traveled, we propose to reflect on the theoretical and methodological possibilities presented in diverse and complex phenomena in urban areas. Its analysis demands the implementation of strategies and the help of other disciplines that trigger new questions and require rethinking the classic objects and methods of anthropology without jeopardizing its condition and specificity.

This research identifies the growth processes generated by the increase of the population in rural-urban localities, which have influenced the transformation of current land at different stages of time in the municipalities that integrate the Pachuca Metropolitan Area (ZMP). In addition, it evaluates the growth of the localities by the volume of population, through a spatial analysis, where the projections of the total population by locality are used in the period from 2010 to 2030; as well as the processes that have caused the susceptibility of the natural soil to be transformed into urban, promoting the extension of the urban spot. The results are obtained by applying the method of interpolation by isolines in the GIS (Geographic Information Systems), in which the spatial distribution of the population is established according to the typology of the localities.

This paper presents an approximation to a definition of urban sociology considering its origins, its look towards the city as an object of study, how the city is defined and studied by sociology and from which themes. It is about seeing the importance of this discipline to study the city. Urban or urban sociology offers a complementary perspective to other disciplines that are also interested in the urban phenomenon; it goes far beyond the physical-spatial aspect, because the definition of a city for urban sociologists is precisely at the intersection between the social and the spatial. Supported by the contributions of specialists in the area, this could be a working agenda within the discipline, its privileged research topics, its approach to study it. The field is immense and somehow complex, since it consists of great variety of perspectives throughout eras, continents and within the same discipline.

The article discusses the notions of territory and place from an occupation of land in a neighborhood of the city of Mar del Plata, in 2018. From an ethnographic perspective, we investigate around the disputes and tensions originated in the process of territorial appropriation. We focus on analyzing the webs of social and political relations that are knotted and unraveled around the conflict, generated by the different intervening social actors and the actions tending to reinforce or delegitimize the fact. On the one hand, we argue that the notion of territory crossed by power and conflict relations does not allow us to observe the multiple possible identities within the group of families that occupied the land. In this sense, we believe it is appropriate to return to the "senses of place" that imprint a particular dynamic on the disputed territory: the conflict did not imply the formation of identities but, rather, the putting into play of meanings of the place related to the previous experience of the actors. On the other side, from the complaint, we observed that different instances are activated to legitimize the occupation. Here, a category emerges that tends to homogenize families: that of "unemployed mothers with many dependent children" framed in a "struggle for access to land". We believe that these categories make the phenomenon invisible, driven by the alternative possibility of access to land.

El acelerado crecimiento de la población e infraestructura en los centros urbanos y la falta de instrumentos de planificación, que conllevan a modelos de urbanización sustentables, ha propiciado profundas desavenencias entre los actores sociales y la generación de problemas sociales y ambientales. Este número aborda diversos escollos persistentes en ciudades a partir de los procesos de migración rural-urbana, derivados de las desigualdades sociales, las limitadas oportunidades de acceso al suelo y el incremento de asentamientos informales, los cambios de uso de suelo y la pérdida de vegetación para el desarrollo habitacional, comercial, industrial o de servicios, así como la generación, la composición y la inadecuada disposición final de residuos sólidos municipales. Además, incluye una contribución sobre las áreas naturales protegidas y la falta de Programas de Manejo que determinan el deficientecumplimento de su propósito de conservación ambiental, así como la reseña del libro “Propuesta de un plan de movilidad urbana para la Zona Metropolitana de Cancún (ZMC), México”.

This paper explores the inescapable link between philosophy and city. Limiting ourselves to elaborate an approximation which we will call the inaugural moment from where this relationship can be elucidated. To stablish basic coordinates to develop this endeavor, we pose two elementary questions: First: What role does the city play in the philosophical discourse? Second: How does the city become an object of inquiry for philosophy? Perhaps, when discussing both issues we can problematize this link.

     

Hace ya dos décadas que el mundo se volvió predominantemente urbano; en México, más del 70 por cierto de la población vive en ciudades y adentrada en lo que ha sido llamada “la era urbana”; nos encontramos frente a lo que parece un buen punto de inflexión en la generación de nuevas ideas y pensamientos en relación con “la teoría urbana” y con ello la cavilación acerca de quien piensa y hace las ciudades. La intención de esta edición especial es resaltar que se necesita ampliar la injerencia y reconocer aportes a los estudios de la ciudad más allá de las disciplinas tradicionalmente asociadas a eso, como la planeación y la arquitectura (y el urbanismo), lo cual nos permite ensanchar nuestra visión y ofrecer explicaciones más matizadas a una variedad de problemas tanto teóricos como empíricos de nuestra realidad urbana compartida.

En esta contribución a la Teoría de la Planeación Urbana en México, el doctor Juan José Gutiérrez Chaparro se refiere a la importancia de reafirmar el papel de la planeación urbana como un medio de conducción del cambio en la nueva realidad mexicana haciendo énfasis en la necesidad de trabajar en el desarrollo de políticas públicas, así como en reformas al marco legal e institucional en materia de asentamientos humanos. Lo anterior con el fin de enfrentar entre otros fenómenos recientes los que se enlistan a continuación: la dispersión de las ciudades; los retos asociados en materia de movilidad; la segregación espacial; la dotación de infraestructura; y la gobernabilidad.
