The Anglosphere, Northern Europe and the Sinosphere are conglomerates of countries that include populations that manifest the highest degree of pro-market ideology. These nations tend to have institutions that are conducive to economic efficiency. Following F. Hayek’s intuition, this paper presents the hypothesis that the capitalist mentality of these countries originates in their historical agrarian structures, given that they all included many economic agents accustomed to actively interacting in the market without strong restrictions. This situation generated an understanding and acceptance of the operation and virtues of competitive economies. In the rest of the world, by contrast, a large part of the rural population was marked by feudal constraints or suffered from strong communal, tribal, and governmental interference; another part were proletarians or slaves in large plantations or haciendas. This condition provoked passivity in laborers, since they perceived their actions to be limited to a large extent by other agents or organizations. This passivity translated into a mentality that had a higher propensity for the acceptance of government intervention.

Resumen: Tras una breve reflexión introductoria, este texto presenta algunos de los trabajos derivados del Congreso Internacional sobre el 70 Aniversario de la Declaración Universal de Derechos Humanos, que tuvo lugar en Valencia en diciembre de 2018. Los trabajos se han clasificado en siete secciones: 1) Ponencias invitadas; 2) Violencia de género y derechos de las mujeres; 3) Empresas multinacionales y derechos humanos; 4) Memoria histórica y derechos humanos; 5) Nuevos escenarios y nuevas garantías para los derechos; 6) Contextos y vulnerabilidades; 7) Perspectivas. Abstract: After a brief introductory reflection, this text presents some of the works derived from the International Congress on the 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which took place in Valencia in December 2018. The works have been classified into seven sections: 1) Invited papers; 2) Gender violence and women's rights; 3) Multinational companies and human rights; 4) Historical memory and human rights; 5) New scenarios and new guarantees for rights; 6) Contexts and vulnerabilities; 7) Perspectives.

RESUMEN.  En este trabajo se realiza un análisis conceptual y justificatorio sobre el castigo jurídico como elemento crucial de la asignación de responsabilidad penal. Para ello, se propone que, si bien el concepto es descriptivo y neutral desde cierta perspectiva, cuando se trata de dar cuenta de cómo es usado dentro de la práctica jurídico-punitiva, el concepto es de carácter normativo. Se plantea que ese carácter normativo se articula en distintos contenidos que conforman diversas concepciones, las cuales constituyen los marcos valorativos para realizar el juicio de justificación sobre el castigo.

Resumen: Los matrimonios forzados son una forma de violencia de género y una vulneración de derechos humanos. Al analizar esta problemática tan compleja, desde los feminismos, pueden surgir algunos aspectos controvertidos a la vez que necesarios como son el concepto de autonomía, consentimiento, multiculturalidad e interseccionalidad.

Resumen: En este texto, desde una perspectiva personal, se destacan y comentan brevemente algunas de las aportaciones científicas del profesor Mario Ruiz,, catedrático acreditado en filosofía del derecho, en el marco de las jornadas que se celebraron en su recuerdo en las Universidades de Valencia y Rovira i Virgili (18 de octubre de 2018 y 14 de novienbre de 2018, respectivamente). Abstract: In this text, from a personal perspective, shares some of the scientific contributions of Professor Mario Ruiz that were highlighted and briefly commented within the framework of the conferences that were held in his memory at the Universities of Valencia and Rovira i Virgili (October 18, 2018 and November 14, 2018, respectively).
